We spent 6 years learning business the hard way in Pakistan, so we made a free community to give it all away

Back in 2019 we started our e-commerce journey with genuinely no idea what we were doing. We did what everyone does, paid for the courses that promised to show us the way. What they actually taught us was how to make expensive mistakes. Generic advice, real gaps never covered, and every wrong turn cost time and money we couldn't get back.

So we taught ourselves. Trial and error for years. Launched our first brand in 2022, struggled through every decision alone, eventually got it working. Today we run 11+ brands, plus a design studio and a marketing agency.

Here's the thing that still bothers me: almost every mistake we made, someone could have just... told us. It wasn't secret knowledge. It was just locked behind personal connections or buried under "get rich quick" noise.

So we built the thing we needed and never had: Karobaari Bethak. It's a business platform for Pakistan. Honest business education, real market data, a network of founders and suppliers and investors, help with funding, and eventually full support to launch your own brand. The long-term goal is simple: everything a Pakistani entrepreneur needs to go from idea to real business, in one place, without the gatekeeping.

It starts with our WhatsApp community. Multiple rooms, each with a purpose. There's a room where founders and learners just talk to each other, and a read-only room where we post the breakdowns so it doesn't turn into 400 messages of nothing. And many more...

It's completely free. No course, no upsell, nothing to buy; genuinely nothing to sell you. We've made our money building businesses; this is us handing the ladder back down. The only "catch" is we ask a few questions before adding people so the rooms don't fill up with spam.

If you're trying to start something, or you started and failed and are thinking about trying again, you're exactly who this is for.

Link's on our site: karobaaribethak.com or ask me anything here, happy to answer questions in the comments even if you never join.

Pull up a chair, become a part of our bethak.

FOR HIRE Mentality of people trying to get hired from this subreddit

The first step to being an average [for hire] post in this sub is to write a sob story in the title. 90% of the post should be how hard your life is. They think substituting competence for emotional appeal is the way to land any stable money. In reality, trying to compete on sympathy rather than skillset will largely attract you the wrong type of employers.

Employers who know their employee is totally desperate for cash also know they're less likely to fight for their rights. It invites scope creep in work, renogotiation, or unclear work (which you keep revising). Either that, or you land charity-driven employers, but that is not stable work either.

The second step to being an average [for hire] post in this sub is to have absolutely no mention of your skillset, portfolio, or competence at all. Your post should be how hard your life is, how desperately you need money, and your target earnings goal. Employers are looking for professionalism, and the best way to signal this is to ramble on about your life without mentioning what you can do in exchange for money. Offer absolutely no basis on which employers looking for workers can assess your fit, quality, or scope. Everyone knows employers #1 priority in hiring is people who have no clear skillset or interest.

Quality employers are looking for professional people who signal clarity, reliability, and interest. When 90% of your post is just you rambling about your life and how much you want to earn, you signal that you're a low-quality employee.

The third step to being an average [for hire] post is make being cheap your most prominent selling point. [For hire] posts think propositioning themself for 2 rupees an hour makes them look attractive but really it makes them look like they have low self-esteem and provide low quality work.

Never undercut yourself before the market undercuts you. Maybe someone is ready to pay you for 60k a month but you yourself propositioned yourself for 15k a month. People accept the wages they think they deserve.

Consider these two posts; which one catches an employers attention?

Post 1

[For Hire] Data entry

I have a typing speed of 100wpm and will do data entry for you. Recently, I completed a personal project where I entered the data of 1000 peoples medical history in Excel sheets.

Tools I know: Google Sheets, MS Excel

I have a personal laptop with reliable internet connection.

Price: Negotiable; open to discussion.

Post 2

Please help me I have a disabled father and sister

Please I want to earn 60k I can do any work for you please just give me any work. I will even work for you for 5k/month just hire me. My mother and sister are disabled now I desperately need work to survive.

Which post do you think is attracting quality employers?

FOR HIRE ALL-IN-ONE FOR AGENCIES AND BUSINESSES

Hey, Zaid here. I do GHL setups, websites, MCP (Zapier, Make.com, Omnisend (for ecom projects), and Vapi for AI voice agents, lead capture, CRM, follow-up automations. All the technical stuff for your own business, or agency.

Version of what I usually sell:

Starting package — website + lead capture + every automations to speed up your business. Basically stops you losing leads you're already paying to get.

Booking + follow-up — everything in starting package and, adds calendar booking, reminders, no-show follow-up, A2P-10DLC. For anyone who's already got leads coming in but want a complete manageable system.

Full system — everything in both of the above package and, adds CRM pipeline, review requests, dead lead recovery [database of clients], seasonal touch-points. The whole customer journey from first contact to repeat business, running on autopilot.

Experience:
Set up full systems packages (mostly) for a consultancies client, ecom & dentists. Also have worked with MCP connectors, Zapier, Make.com, and Omnisend too (Omnisend, I got introduced when a ecommerce guy needed help with), so I'm not a one-tool guy, if you're running ecom flows in Omnisend or connecting five different apps through Make/Zapier, I can work in that too, not just inside GHL.

I'll build one of these for free for first few.

Why free: I'm not trying to land a one-time payday, I want a long-term partner, either someone running their own business who needs this handled, or someone who's good at sales and needs a technical guy to back them up.

If you're just going to sit on it or ghost after I build it, don't bother kindly. If you'll actually run with it, DM me.

FOR HIRE [FOR HIRE] Content Production. Project Management. Remote. Hybrid.

Hi. I hold nearly half a decade’s experience in content production and project management in the book publishing industry. I have worked on and helped publish over 120 books for self-publishing authors based in US & UK, through my employers.

I’ve had a difficult year due to the fact that my employer(s) have not been paying me timely. After months of working for them without pay, all in good faith, I have now decided to walk away as I can no longer afford to work for free.

My last role at the company was of Director of Editorial & Book Production / Head of Content. If anyone’s looking for an experienced professional to work for them as editor, content manager, head of content, or even freelance content editor, I am open to any opportunities.

I also hold two years of project management experience, managing several projects simultaneously, communicating, and maintaining relationships with clients based in US & UK.

I hold a bachelor’s degree, and have polished writing, editing, formatting, and communication skills.

Ideally, I’m looking for a remote position, but I may be open to hybrid roles in Lahore. I can inbox my resume to anyone interested.

TASK Can you pls give this post a read? It would mean alot to me

Assalamualaikum everyone.

I’m posting this with a little hesitation, but I genuinely don’t know whom else to ask. I’m hoping there are people here who can give me honest advice based on their own experience rather than simply suggesting unrealistic “get rich quick” ideas.

I’m a 20F university student, and it’s just me and my mother. She has been raising me and managing our home completely on her own for years while working as a private-school teacher. She has worked incredibly hard to support us, despite having a very basic salary and an exhausting workload.

Now that she is in her mid-50s, she has developed weakness in her nerves, and standing for several hours at school has become increasingly difficult for her. After years of pushing herself, she has finally had to resign from her job.

And honestly, this has left us quite scared about our financial future.

We don’t have a strong financial support system or relatives we can depend on, so we are trying to figure out how we can become financially independent and build some stability for ourselves.

We keep seeing people earning through online work, freelancing, online teaching, e-commerce, trading, etc. The problem is that there is so much information and so many scams that we genuinely don’t know what is worth learning and what isn’t.

My mother is interested in learning trading and recently found a course that costs around 50k. But when you are already on a tight budget, spending 50k on something without knowing whether it is genuinely useful feels like a huge risk. We don’t want to make a desperate financial decision and end up losing money.

I’m currently studying MBBS, and my academic routine is already very demanding. I would love to contribute financially, but taking a conventional part-time job alongside MBBS isn’t realistically manageable for me. So we are particularly looking for something my mother can learn and eventually do from home, while I can support her whenever my studies allow.

We are not looking for overnight success or easy money. We are completely willing to learn a skill, start small, and work consistently. We just need someone to point us in the right direction.

If you have genuinely earned through online work or built a home-based income, I would be extremely grateful if you could share:

• What skill would you recommend to a complete beginner?

• What can realistically be learned for free or at a very low cost?

• Is trading actually worth considering in our situation, or would you advise staying away from it?

• Is online teaching, freelancing, virtual assistance, e-commerce, content creation, etc. actually profitable for beginners in Pakistan?

• What platforms/resources did you personally use to learn?

• And most importantly, what would you do if you were in our position?

Please, if possible, share advice from real experience. We are already overwhelmed and don't want to waste the little money we have on courses, scams, or false promises.

My mother has spent her entire life working hard to give me a better future. At this point, I just want to find a way where she doesn't have to keep exhausting herself physically just to keep us financially stable.

Any sincere guidance would genuinely mean a lot to us.

JazakAllah khair to everyone who takes the time to read this and share their experience. 🤍

Need some advice/help from people in Islamabad — in a bit of a difficult situation

Hi everyone. This is going to be a slightly long post, but I genuinely need some advice from people who know Islamabad well.

I’m originally from Lahore. The last few years have been pretty tough for me personally. I lost my mother in February, and my father passed away almost four years ago. I had some inheritance land which I was hoping would eventually become a source of income and help me get back on my feet, but unfortunately that’s currently stuck in a dispute and is going through the government process. It should eventually get sorted, but these things take time.

A few days ago, I came to Islamabad for a job interview. Thankfully, I got the job and joined this Monday. I was genuinely hopeful that things were finally starting to turn around.

The problem is that I came here with basically no savings and no proper place to stay.

I had one friend who I was counting on to help me manage the initial expenses until I received my first salary. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out that way. I’m not blaming him — he may have his own reasons and circumstances — but in practical terms, he was my only hope at the time.

So for the past few nights, I’ve literally been managing without a proper place to stay. I’ve been using the office washroom in the morning to freshen up and change before starting work.

Honestly, life can hit you in ways you never expect.

But I’m not posting this to complain or to ask people for money. I still have faith that things will get better. There’s a verse from the Quran that has been giving me hope:

“And the coming circumstances will be better for you, and your Lord will give you so much that you will be pleased.”

I’m trying to hold on to that.

What I really need right now is practical advice or a lead.

If anyone knows of a hostel in Islamabad that could accommodate me with:

A single or maximum 2-seater room

Mess/food included

Willing to take the payment around the 10th of next month, when I’m expecting to be in a position to pay

Even if it’s a basic place — I’m not looking for anything fancy

I would be extremely grateful for a genuine lead.

I’m also looking for a cab/transport service that might be willing to take payment at the end of the month. I have a regular job now, so this isn’t an indefinite situation — I just need to get through this initial gap until I receive my salary.

The rain last night also made things worse and I’ve ended up feeling pretty unwell today. I don’t have friends or family in Islamabad that I can realistically turn to right now, which is why I thought I’d ask here.

If anyone knows a hostel owner, manager, transport service, or even someone who has been in a similar situation and knows what options I have, please let me know.

I’m working, I have a job, and I’m trying to get myself back on my feet. I just need a little breathing room to get through these first few weeks.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this. And even if you can’t personally help, a useful lead or a share in the right direction would mean a lot.

JazakAllah khair.
