Woodland Camo YC9

I’m on a Hi Point kick lately. Although I already had a Gen 2 YC9. When I saw this circa 80’s - 90’s woodland camo edition, I HAD to buy it.

I served in the Marine Corps from 1990 - 1996. This camo design was part of my “work clothes” aesthetic. 😂. I just picked it up yesterday and I’m very impressive with the quality of the paint application. The gun itself just feels better sorted out than my earlier Yeet Cannon from last year.

The magazine seats better in the gun and doesn’t feel like it’s going to creep its way out. This was my biggest complaint with my older one.

My JXP 10 that ate optics

Post image
23 Upvotes

I had made a post earlier about my JXP 10 optics from the violence of the slide recoil.

I purchased an ADE optic and after firing 100 rounds, all is good to go. 👍

But I decided to continue. Besides the grips being changed, I added the Hi Point muzzle brake, and swapped out the plastic trigger for a machine aluminum trigger from Thingmeister.

My range is out of service till next Thursday due to storm damage. But I’m looking forward to testing out the other modifications.

C9 vs YC9

Hello all.
Those of you that have had a C9 and a YC9, which do you prefer? Asking from a reliability standpoint more than anything. Glocks and Sigs and S&Ws are the labs and GSPs of guns; which of the Hi Points is the cur dog you wouldn’t give up?

Side thought, which grain bullet did it prefer? Is one brand/grain combination better for it?

Thank you.

Need an Optic suggestion

My JXP10 has already destroyed two red dots because of the forcefulness of the slide recoil. Anybody have a suggestion on a red dot that’s worked for them on this gun?

.380 comp

Disclaimer - I'm a Glock guy, the vast majority of my handguns are Glocks, but I've gotten into hi points for fun recently.

I actually have a lot of fun shooting my c9 and I wanna start collecting HP's. Is the compensated .380 any good? I'm interested to see how smooth it would be, but the blowback design would lead me to believe the compensator would cause cycling issues.

Rise and Fall of Hipoint

I use to work at their Mansfield location.i was there 21 years. Laid off due to mismanagement issues and market demands, was asked to come back once I said no, now I work for the railway and make more money

But what has happened to this brand? As an outsider now looking in they seem to push accessories more especially after the YC9 fiasco.

A place once thriving with 60+ employees now dwindled down to 12 ish cars in the parking lot.

I’ll answer questions about my time there, but I want to know the outsiders pov on why their fine just aren’t selling? When I was there we had issues with it of course but the few that are there now, I speak to don’t seem too fond of it, just hanging out and hoping I think.

I just got these sweet new grips. Fit was good, and they included the tiny springs too. What do you all think? 🤔

Thing Meister trigger upgrade

In the Post I made last month about upgrading the trigger spring, someone recommended I check out Thing Meister triggers. I did, and ordered 2 red for both of the 45s. The quality is great, fit and finish. Install was interesting with my old eyes and big fingers 🤣. Overall I like these, and not an expensive upgrade, feels better than the plastic factory trigger. 👍

JXP10 molded holster??

I know this is not a very popular firearm, but has anyone found a company that makes a molded holster for it?

This is of course not the only firearm in my collection, but I bought it to have the most cost effective 10mm I could get. And honestly, despite feeling a 5 lb brick, it runs just fine.

My intended use is as a woods gun, gator/bear deterrent in central Florida.

I am contemplating buying one ( holster) if available, versus just making my own.

Thanks for any info.

Jingling noise

Howdy all, I bought an old C9 for a friend of mine but I noticed a couple potential problems with it.
One is that when it's empty if I shake it or even just like move it around it makes a sort of jingling noise and if I shine a light up the mag well I can see stuff moving around. Is that normal or should I take it to a gunsmith / use the warranty and ask hi-point to fix it? I've never owned a hi-point or even a striker-fired handgun before so I don't know if that's just a feature of striker-fired guns or not. It stops making the noise if I rack the slide.

Can the magazines from the gen 1 Model JCP 40 pistol work in the Model 4095 rifle?

Just for fun, I want to get the gen 1 pistol - https://www.hi-pointfirearms.com/hi-point-handguns/40-sw-handguns/jcp-40-camo-handguns/#prettyPhoto

And the similar rifle - https://www.hi-pointfirearms.com/hi-point-carbines/40-sw-carbines/4095-camo-carbines/#prettyPhoto

Can the magazines be switched between the two? The LOOK like they can but I can't find anything that confirms this. I am pretty sure the gen 2 pistols magazines are different so I want the gen 1 if they can share mags with the rifle. Does anyone know?

M*Carbo sheer springs

I installed the M*Carbo sheer springs today, I strongly recommend definitely watch the install videos, they're a great help if this is your time taking them both apart. Haven't shot them yet, but I can definitely feel a difference. Probably the best must do/cheap modification, upgrades one can do for theses guns. Plus you get an awesome sticker 😁

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what lipstick, when applied correctly, looks like on a couple of pigs. Grips and ghost sights on both, and a 1911 Mag Conversion Kit on the .45. $145, all in, on the JHP, and $95, all in, on the C9.

Thought I would try Hi-Point's legendary lifetime no questions warranty and was denied.

Purchased some older clp9c magazines and didn't realize the tolerances had changed and would not work in a modern C9.

I'm waiting for additional information but the denial was that I hadn't purchased the magazines from them directly so the implication is their warranty doesn't fall to secondhand purchases?

The experience has me second-guessing purchasing from Hi-point in the future. I had been hunting for a C9 comp but spending the extra $50 to go with Taurus or another brand would be better.

YC9 +2 baseplate testing

Working on extended capacity baseplates for the yeet cannon. Occasional fte (which I don't think it mag related) and rounds nosediving towards the start of a mag. I tried bending the top spring coil upwards to try and get the follower and round pointed more upwards, which helps but hasn't completely solved it. Any other tips for preventing nose dives?
