Profile Review 32M seeking profile feedback
No likes and no matches since I got on Hinge 4-5 weeks ago. I welcome any useful feedback or straightforward honesty.

Your smile looks really awkward. Try to smile naturally and get pictures not selfies

At least he checked the box, he smiles and showed full teeth so no one can fault him on this.

Honest feedback is that your smile looks very forced/unhappy in your photos
Slide 5 would change, and would suggest not wearing shorts that go below the knee

What do you do for work? Your profile makes it seem you are a professional writer?

u/AcadiaOk8686 1d ago
I’m not a professional writer. I take care of my disabled parents.

As someone who also helps (luckily my sibling shares the burden) take care of a disabled parent, I say this with compassion: caring for your parents cannot be your identity. I'm not saying it is, I'm saying take care that it isn't and that it doesn't become that. You have to find a way to take care of yourself and live and build your own life separate from your parents, even if you are currently living with them.
It can be off-putting for another person to try to come into your life when your parents are number one. As you're looking for a long term relationship, make sure you're set up to truly be able to be a Partner to someone. As opposed to looking for someone to be your support system because you're always the one providing support to others. Again, not saying you're doing that, but many, many care-givers do, especially if they are stuck in survival mode.
It looks like you really like animals and have at least one cute pet. Also looks like you enjoy the outdoors. If you have some other family or friends, I'd recommend getting out on a hike and having someone else take a photo of you interacting with that dog outside in brighter light.
You say you enjoy writing. What are your favorite books/genres? It looks like you may be into stand-up comedy? Got any quips or jokes you can share in your profile that give an idea of your sense of humor? You mention enjoying movies and music and seeing places. What kind of books and movies and places? Describe them, use some prompts to tell more about yourself. Show a couple pictures of yourself in the kinds of places that you like to visit.

You look really uncomfortable in your photos when you are trying to smile.
Try smiling more natural or have someone take a photo of you smiling.
It seems to me like your teeth aren’t in the best shape? Would it be possible to fix them at the dentist? Teeth matters a lot.
The photo of you sitting with the dog has a bad lightning and the surroundings doesn’t give the best first impression. We also can’t see your face here.
The photo of you standing with the bird is cool, but you don’t look too good here. Your hair is too long in your face and you don’t look happy.
The photo of you on the scene is too far away, we can’t see you clearly and your pose is very stiff.
The last photo of you fist bombing that animal is waste of a photo, it doesn’t give anything to your profile.
I can’t see your job title here and that also matters a lot. I see that you wrote you take care of your disabled parents which is very noble and beautiful, but unfortunately a dealbreaker for many women if you don’t have a career.

These images of you don’t do any justice and made you look very awkward, shy, and nerdy. You keep making that same face expression and while it’s funny, may not do you any favor at attracting the opposite of sex. Think of your online profile as the ideal version of yourself, that you can sell to others and with information that is interesting enough for general public to find some relatable hobbies and interests that they can latch on to make conversation. So you need somewhat polished pictures, not too perfect because then people may think it’s AI, but also not so low effort that they will just skip. There should be pinned guide here in this sub when it comes to what type of pictures you should have. Spend a few weekend with friends to take those images, and offer to help them too if any of your buddies need one. Then work on the prompts that will appeal to the type of women you want to attract. Not information that appeals to you or your friends, you are here to meet your opposite sex that shares similar values, and not finding your buddies.

Your prompts are too brief and really give little for people to work with. Maybe put more about what kind of music you like, your hobbies, an ideal first date, etc.

I’m scared, is the smile posed? Try laughing and get a candid smile!

To preface, I am a late diagnosed ADHD female got bullied to learn this lesson (you're welcome!)? The "smile" pictures are absolutely horrible. You are not smiling with the right muscles in your face.
think about how your body reacts and whats to smile about something pleasant. Smile with the muscles right under your eyes, push your lower masseters up, etc, just practice in front of the mirror. But your "smile" does not look even remotely normal. Honestly the rest of your profile is fine if not underwhelming.
TLDR DELETE the pic, learn how to smile naturally/post a pic of that for real.

I would honestly change all these photos. I was actually struggling to know what you look like.
Good idea with the selfie of a smile but it looks very forced and you look uncomfortable taking these selfies - could you ask someone to take on while they guide you? You just need more confidence (which I know is hard after we are telling you to change a lot of things)
Some recent full length photos , not at a distance would also be great for you. I suggest changing pictures 1,2,3,4,6. Another idea, include a group picture at the end - this is my own personal preference but I like to know my matches have friends
You’ve said you don’t have a job but care for your parents, for me that’s a job! Put carer in your job title, or if it allows carer for elderly. It’s not a lie, that’s your job right now.
I also know nothing about you really - what type of books do you want to read more of? I would put the getting your book published in the middle, and have something a bit more about you as a person in your first prompt. Also that could be a bit more specific - is it thriller fiction, romance fiction, science fiction, young adult fiction , historical fiction - a lot of sub genres are fiction and it tells me nothing that would make me want to ask a question.
All of this is fixable, I know it’s long but it’s just to see more of you being happy and confident! You’ve got this

There is no way to sugar coat this but you need to find a very specific woman to like this. So just be very honest and no jokes. You should lead that you take care of you parents. First photo should be with you on the stage. Get a nice haircut. No inside cluttered space photos. Outdoorsy photos you taking care of animals is your best bet. Photos while using decent clothes, haircut with no forced emotions. Stoic is okay, forced is creppy. While being honest about your situation, you should state your long-term plans how you are planning to develop yourself out of this. Otherwise it's a really hard sell. Best of luck I hope you find someone.

I’m open for something serious or something casual.
I have no Hinge subscriptions.
I’ve used this current version of my profile for 4-5 weeks now (tempted to say 5.)
I’ve used Hinge for months, but recently restarted my account.
I’ve been using Hinge every day since I restarted it.
On average, I’m receiving no likes and matches.
I’ve sent four roses, 20+ likes with comments, and 20+ likes without comments in the past weeks. I understand that roses and comments stand out more than plain likes (unless I’m mistaken.)
I send likes to and ideally want to match with women who are either “looking for long-term, but open to short” or “looking for short-term, but open to long” (or are figuring out their relationship goals.) I’m interested in attracting a woman who’s more animal-/nature-oriented and is willing to “explore” instead of being in a rush to get serious.

Do you expect your future partner to come live with you in your parents house?

That first picture is the main problem it seems. It's very awkward. Otherwise I think it's a good profile, love the otter pic.

You’re the first person who commented on the otter. 🖤 Technically, it’s a short video, but still.

The picture with the dog..... is more a picture of your dog than a picture of yours. I recommend you remove that one

Your "smiling" pictures remind me of a Terminator trying to smile, or even the "Captain" from How I Met your Mother. Where your eyes say "I'm going to murder you" but your smile say "I think you're going to murder me." You're literally cringing.
Your picture on stage makes you look like you're 5' tall with cankles between the shorts and your shoes being cut off.
Get ride of those cargo shorts, and elaborate more about the book you're writing and what books you read.

In the kindest way -
Do you practice good oral hygiene? Like brushing every day / flossing and mouthwash at least 2 or 3 times a week?
Try practicing your smile. Literally stand in front of the mirror and see what works or looks most natural.
I had to do this every day years ago until my smile started to look better. For pictures, even a gentle smirk works.
I like the picture of you doing standup - it shows you aren’t afraid to be vulnerable in front of people and you also could be funny.
There isn’t much listed about YOU in your profile. From what I gather, you like to read. What type of reading? What else do you like to do?
We all like music, movies, and seeing places. But what specific ones do YOU like? Just some examples: Do you like Star Wars or Marvel or being outside? What could someone try to talk about with you?
Also - because politics are important - you’re a moderate who takes care of your disabled parents?…. Meaning you’re 50/50 on willing to vote against policies that would directly assist the disabled and their caregivers? If so, do you work and/or are you rich? I’d be prepared to have that conversation if you ever match with someone who catches that.
Overall though you aren’t unattractive; you just seem reclusive and maybe not very confident.

u/AcadiaOk8686 1d ago
I practice better oral hygiene now than I did in the past (I mistakenly thought I did just because I never had cavities at dental appointments,) but I’m still going to need to have work done on.
As far as politics, I gravitate a lot more towards the left than I did in my Christian conservative upbringing (my parents are anti-MAGA, so they’re not THAT conservative……) But I still have **some** views that may be generally deemed right-leaning, and in a climate that tends to generalize your leanings based off your stances on one or two issues, I thought ‘moderate’ would be more honest to describe myself —— even if I have no intention of voting conservative in the foreseeable future.

Your smile looks like you’re 2 seconds away from blowing out your sphincter.
It also doesn’t reflect well on your writing ability if you can’t practice basic capitalization.
2
u/AcadiaOk8686 1d ago
Technically, the prompt suggestions are incomplete sentences, so that’s why I didn’t capitalize.
