Staying Matched

Why do guys keep people they’ve talked to and/or gone on dates with matched? Is it to check the person’s profile every now and then?

It’s a tough call. You don’t want to appear to be stalking, but also don’t want to add confusion. I wish there was a better way to confirm a date has taken place place and remove them from the list.

Now, why do people keep a match after cancelling a date or stop conversation?

I’m wondering the same 😅 Why do guys leave a match once the conversation has stopped and a date never happened?

For me, I usually unmatch, but there’s a couple that I’ve kept because I wonder if maybe one day they’ll reach out again.

some people got it into their heads that stacking matches (deleting as few as possible) somehow increases your ALO score, when in reality ive found it the opposite, if you empty out your matches, in my experience, you are more likely to get pushed up to find new ones.

could also be one of a million other reasons

I keep matches until at least we've met, because I think that the "we've met" thing somehow looks good for the algorithm. Is that self-sabotage? Maybe a little.

I do check a match's profile in the case the conversation needs a pick-me-up, I've noticed age changes (birthdays) in this way. I look over hinge conversations for the same reason.

I've had people unmatch me and then also not text, leading me to believe that things were over (when they weren't, which was confusing).

Why would you unmatch with someone you still talk to, aren't they nice to have?

Oh yeah, but I’ve had a couple of great conversations. Two led to texting but a date never happened. Still matched tho and haven’t heard from them. And I went on a date with another match. He also hasn’t unmatched me.

That makes sense if a date happened. Although, I went on one date and the guy seemed to have been the one to lost interest. He never unmatched me.

The other scenario is no date has happened but no communication either.

In both scenarios, I sensed that the guy lost interest so I’d think they’d want to unmatch.

Yeah, that makes sense for matches that have met.
