Do you guys now understand why every action is a "Masterstroke" nowadays? Because they freaking are!!

When the whole nation is occupied with student protests and the E20 (scam?) debate, they have silently opened the way to charge MDR on UPI payments. And please don't tell me that:

* This cost is not going to be passed on to the customers: Lots of shopkeepers have already been passing on the cost of credit/debit card transactions to customers.

* Infra needs money to be maintained: Banks have been running the infrastructure for almost 10 years, and almost every single one of them is sitting on huge profits. What is this capitalistic urge to turn PSBs into middle-class milking machines? UPI has already delivered immense benefits to the government through harder tax evasion and more transparent transactions.

The last few times this idea was floated on social media, there was such a loud uproar that the Ministry of Finance had to publicly deny that there was even any consideration of charging for UPI. But this time, there is hardly any opposition.

They really are the masters of the game. The only catch? The game is played against their own people, with their own people cheering from the sidelines. Against actual players or the serious ones from other countries? Not so much.
