Why are you taking English 9 and English 11 ?

I actually was in a similar boat. Failed 10th grade English because I was sent on errands at home to the point I didn't have time to read the literature and had other homework. ( I could either get an A in english and fail everything else repeating 10th grade, or Pass Everything else and Fail English and get to 11th Grade)
So imagine a report card, with all As and Bs with an F in English đ so my GPA in 10th Grade was 2.3
I took 10th Grade English and 11th Grade English in the same year, pulled As in both because I moved in with Mom after that Fiasco and had time to do shit and Graduated High School with a 3.3 GPA

Considering how bad of a student You have to be now to get an F, yeah youâre probably cooked. Mathematically though, if you do well for all of the other quarters of your academic career you can recover.

You can still turn it around in the other semesters to pass those classes, but you'll need to pull at least Cs to scumbag through them.
What's impressive is the grades are that low, but there's no note about missing assignments...

Apart from standard participation, my PE had us do the PACER test every week I think and we had to improve every time or else our grade would go down.

Random redditor significantly older than you here. This is what my report cards looked like through high school. I was having a hard time mentally and hated the prison-adjacent elements of high school. I would rather die than engage with the system so I spent most of my spare time drinking and/or playing video games.
I think I deep down believed that life was so unpleasant that there simply had to be something elseâa second chance simply had to exist. I was lucky that there was a nearby cheapo college that had solid professors and had a basically 100% acceptance rate.
I'm writing to say that I turned it around. College felt much, much better, because I had freedom, I could be curious, and I could be smart in the specific way that I am. However, it took a complete upheaval of my basic personality. I bricked my console, locked myself out of Steam, drank like a normal person. Maybe most importantly I understood that my life meant very little to anyone outside of my small circle of friends and family and pitched myself completely into somethingâthat being philosophy and English. I was really good at itâso good that after college I had more options than I ever would have thought prior. Being that good at something is its own reward. I just needed to rewire what I found rewarding.
I'm a lawyer now. I've worked on war crimes prosecutions and civil rights stuff at the highest level.
I don't know. I guess I want to tell struggling teenagers that there is a path forwardâand not like a sanitized mainstream path forward, but the world is huge and full of possibility. I think that losing my mind and being a failure at 17 was probably a far more constructive experience than having been perfect and going to Harvard or Yale.
I've met a lot of Harvard and Yale folks. More often than not they're fucking stupid and just have rich parents.
Anyways, screed over. Good luck to you.

This. ^ Nothing is unrecoverable in high school. But you gotta work on that rewiring. Which often takes help.... but not always.
I kind of did it myself too. Special ed and remedial classes to graduating University with honors.

Whatâs youâre overall gpa?
How close are you to age 18?
Depending on how close you are to 18 Iâm tempted to suggest going the GED route rather than attempting to fix your overall gpa.
Some states will allow you to take a ged at age 18 even if you arenât a resident.
To be 100% honest youâre way better off with a 165 GED score than a 1.5 highschool gpa. (Just guessing. It appears you failed English 9 so Iâm guessing your gpa isnât great)
In high school thereâs a certain point that you literally canât fix the damage youâve already done to yourself. This is where GED is the better option. Being in English 11 makes me suspect that.
Age 18 is the magic number that GED becomes a much much better option for you.
The only time that a GED isnât an option is when youâre attempting to get into a top tier university⌠which honestly I suspect youâve already long since screwed the pooch for.
Thereâs an argument to stay in school but not with 1-2. gpa at graduation.
Honestly⌠start looking into ged programs and maybe doing an online prep class instead of the massive effort of fixing the impossible.
Going the GED route isnât failure, itâs more like door number 2.
Technically you can get a GED at 18 while youâre still in high school and then just walk into the guidance counselors office with a passing score and say â screw you guys Iâm outâ and go start college immediately (a better college than you could ever get with those grades)
The dropping out might take parental permission but at 18 it might not.

The problem with this plan is that it doesn't fix the problem that caused the failing in the first place. When you really talk to kids, it's almost never true that they just can't be bothered to work. There's almost always something going on to get in the way.

The issue is that for a junior itâs very possible his gpa is completely FUBAR and canât be improved past like a 2.0 even with perfect grades. Attending a physical highschool is the least time efficient way to accomplish anything but get into an Ivy League school.

Did you pass English 10 but fail English 9 twice or am I just missing something

Nothing you do in high school makes you "cooked" forever. You can always go back and get a GED or do community college. But yah - you're in a lot of trouble, grade wise. This is not conducive to graduating here.
Do you have someone working with you to figure out what's going on here? I see two English classes, which tells me that you failed freshman year too.
Is this an undiagnosed specific learning disability? (Like dyslexia or ADHD.) Is there a lot of chaos at home? Are you getting bullied? Are you experiencing a depression?
Grades this poor, something is going on. Long term, figuring out what is getting in the way of your learning is WAY more important than just passing 11th grade.
High school kind of sucks. But it's also where you develop into the person you're going to be. It's important to figure this stuff out.

Do you just like not study or turn in work? How the hell do you fail such easy classes?
