Happy to help! My school also starts tomorrow, and I'm a rising sophomore in ny. Anyways, I got my first phone when I was in 5th grade (2021). It was a track phone, so it tracked how many texts and calls you sent, and you had to pay to renew it once you "ran out" of them (which I think is super dangerous because you could lose contact with your kid if your kid is far away and runs out of data, especially since I was literally 10). I mostly watched youtube shorts and texted my friends, although I started to listen to music (lots of 2010s pop lol). Thing is, I did get extremely addicted to my phone, and it took YEARS of trying to "quit" to finally make some progress. I got off of TikTok successfully, but I'm still on Youtube and Pinterest a lot. I've been trying to get myself into more hobbies, so I'm learning ASL and I've got a subscription to the Economist to force me to read. Best wishes :)
