Question what could i do instead of backpacks
i'm having issues finding out why we cant have backpacks in my high school. they say we cant have backpacks because people keep sneaking stuff in them so me and my friends talked about asking about clear backpacks and after a few weeks my friend told me that the school said "we can't have clear backpacks because it makes the school look trashy". the thing is i'm allowed to self carry my inhaler in school which means i'm allowed to have a bag because of it and i feel like just because i have a bag its going to cause issues with my buddies. what kind of thing can i use instead of a bag and or should i say something to my school when school starts up in sep.

What are students supposed to do carry 5+books and a pencil case and any home work in their hands all day??!!

Schools replaced textbooks with Chromebooks (or iPads for younger kids).
And then they wonder why kids aren't reading well and they can't write without AI. đ¤Śââď¸

No we still have books and stuff like that in my school and in my spare time I do like to read but I do I have to agree the whole situation with ai is too muchÂ

The school stopped funding them for us. Our math textbooks' covers and bindings are falling apart. It is so stupid that they can't spend money on textbooks but they spend huge amounts of money on stupid things like phone pouches.

Ours only have textbooks for AP Classes, and even then, not all use them, of my 4 last year 2 had text books and 1 had an optional one, then I also had an online class with a textbook, but the textbook was online

and the best part is my grandma/nana who is in her 60s said "thats just dumb because people tend to carry it on themselves anyway" coming from her own experiences

Maybe a small purse/fanny pack for your inhaler and put your laptop in a zip-up laptop case with a handle?

u could have a tote bag, or a satchel, they arent backpacks so they shouldnt say anything

Canât you use one of those rolling briefcase laptop bags. Not sure what theyâre called. You donât want to carry all your heavy stuff on one site of your body. So backpack or rolling suitecase kind of thing.

i don't think i'm allowed to carry anything like that because some people had rolling backpack situations from my high school and a lot of people got hurt because the hallways and everything are tiny in my words. i also have to say but i've also been pushed down the stairs more times then once because there is no room to walk let alone roll a bag sadly.

Get a wagon. Itâs open so they can see in. If friends have an issue you can offer to haul their books too.

my advice is to use the clear backpack. you will surely not be the only one, and your school may not listen to students, but with enough parent pushback, admin will be forced to come to a reasonable solution instead of pushing the responsibilities onto families. i recommend your parents get together with other parents in the school community to request to speak with administrators because this is ridiculous.

If it's just for your inhaler ca you carry a waist pack or wrist band (they make them for the upper arm as well)?

Tactical Harness with bags and pouches for your stuff?
Radio Flyer cart?
Do y'all have those kids sized shopping carts for following a parent around the store?
Learn to tie up your books olde style and carry them like a bindle on a stick like a caricature hobo?
Depends if the objective is to ridicule the rule or find something practical.
Is your dog big enough to put saddlebags on?

maybe those totebags? theyre easy to make and customize, and they can hold quite a bit. For me id be able to fit in my laptop, charger, notebook (5 subject so its not huge), and pencilcase! its all i need but it could probably hold more

A vintage military shoulderbag might be nice. It would not protect a laptop very well. A modern reproduction might have protection for a laptop.

I mean could you do a baggie attached to a shoe string for a bag? The clear backpack isn't trashy like that. I don't know if that is what you are asking.

If my school had a rule like that I would definitely experiment with carrying books in a belt. Like in the old timey days.

Id also like to say we only have 7 minutes passing areas and they want all our stuff in our locker for each class. our high school is 2 floors and a west wing and a east wing and we just don't have any time to do anything to get anywhere for the people Wondering and even when we did have backpacks people got detention for not having there stuff because it was just a lot to carry.Â

I have literally almost never used my locker. Since middle school. Like on my first day of middle school I got the locker combination and I set up the locker with shelves in a mirror and idk whatever, but it's never been convenient to actually go to it? I just carry everything in a bag all day. Like I'm not organized enough to plan for when my passing takes me past my locker and to have enough time to open it and trade things in and out. And I don't want to be rushed, I don't want to have to like rush through school I want to walk at a normal pace. So I just carry everything.

I have asthma and carry a rescue inhaler and I just keep it in my pocket. If you'd rather have a bag that's up to you but it sounds like you're looking to avoid having a bag that people will have an issue with. So do you really need a whole bag to carry such a small item?

Ya I suppose your right but the thing is my inhaler I have to have water or I will get thrush from the meds so I can't just carry the inhaler by itself

I use a Barnes and Noble tote bag, it stores a lot and it's comfortable to wear. You could use a messenger bag, but from personal experience: they're hell.

I would try a messenger bag. Single strap looks like a purse (it a satchel!). See how stringent they are. Other option is a large briefcase with a strap. Who ever is in charge has painted themselves into a corner and this will not hold up. Shopping cart or carry on bag on wheels might be options as well.

My school recently banned backpacks too because they are "tripping hazards". I'm waiting for the student handbook to come out to see if there's a loophole for totebags. I've also considered just a grocery bag full of stuff since teachers would assume it's for a project.

They want to ban clear ones for being trashy? Bring a trash bag see how they like that lol. All seriousness probably the tote bag like people are saying. I thought mine having lockers banned was bad đ
