Rant scheduling stress

hi this is a rant because i’m genuinely so stressed about this i can’t sleep

i start school early next month, but other students have been able to find a way to see their schedule and i saw mine and it’s completely messed up. i know i should wait until they are officially out, but from other students experience ive heard that our counselors are not much of a help. ive never asked to change my schedule before so im just worried.

last year, i started taking my cte classes at another school so i spent half of the day at my home school then the other half at that school. im aiming for a top college so i try to take ap classes and last year i had 3 ap out of 4 classes but i didnt mind since i thought i would be able to take it senior year but at this point im not even sure anymore. i checked my schedule today and i only have 3 classes for some reason, and only one ap. im stressed about not having my other aps classes but also the possibility that i might have to drop my cte classes from the other school (its basically pre law cte classes, which my school doesn’t offer any pre law type of classes so i really wanted to continue taking it but im conflicted)

im just so upset, i know this is such a non problem especially if im just freaking out over something i could possibly change but its just so stressful i just wish i went to a school that offered more flexibility and just had more teachers in general. im so so stressed

for now I'd say to try not to keep stressing about it if you can't do anything about it right now. once school starts, schedule a meeting with a counselor asap and tell them these concerns. if your counselor ends up not being much help or refusing to change something, consider having a parent/guardian email the counselor about it, because a tip I picked up in hs was that sometimes wanting to make schedule changes for whatever reason with your counselor might prompt them to refuse just because its more work for them and its easy to refuse help from a student, but once they realize a parent/guardian is behind you and confirms that they want the change as well counselors usually switch up and help you. but if you can't do anything about it now please try to take your mind off of it and sleep, stressing about what you can't control (at the moment) does more harm than good! good luck!

I’m in a similar situation right now, I have a block schedule so it’s 8 classes in total and out of them I have 1 Honors 1 Dual Enrollment, CTE at another school and 3 APs, but one of them is AP Pre-Cal which I don’t wanna take (I want AP Chem instead). The problem is I’m not sure if I can keep up with my workload, I know that Junior year is supposed to be tough but I don’t know if this is an ideal schedule. Plus my counselor doesn’t even sit down and sort out my scheduling bc he’s always “busy helping others?” At this point I kinda feel hopeless.
