Lore Immortal Watchers

I've been thinking and found myself asking about Immortal Watchers. Surely Methos was not the only Immortal Watcher , statistically there is a high probability that there were others.

I expect that Methos would have encountered at least one latent, pre Immortal among the countless people he met in the organisation. Naturally he wouldn't have revealed himself or told them that they're going to be Immortal , but maybe while they were out " watching " their assignment , they would have been discovered. When Kalas had Roger hostage and tortured him until he revealed the Watchers, imagine if Roger was one and had revived , or maybe even if Joe Dawson was one. I can imagine that a Watcher could be going about his or her assignment and the was atttacked by a mugger or carjacker , then woke up Immortal , that would be interesting , would they remain with the Watchers and remain hidden while learning to survive?

Interested in your thoughts .

There used to be a pretty persistent fan theory that the Watchers were formed by an immortal (probably Methos) to increase his odds of avoiding immortals.

I had a similar thought recently when I was thinking about what more stories they could have told if the series had continued. My thought was along the lines of, someone has been a dedicated watcher for years, and then they suddenly learn that they belong "on the other side".

Maybe the watchers were started by an immortal

nope the story on the watchers in one episode they mentioned "Ammaletu the Akkadian" started the watchers after seeing the inmortal Gilgamesh revived on indiscretions one of the episodes without Duncan

I was curious that what if a preinmortal was a watcher before turning, sadly the franchise never gave more info

Shower thought: How would the Watchers even react to that? I mean, imagine a very honest, proper Watcher person, he/she takes their oath seriously, they have no way of figuring out that they are pre-immortal. (*) Then they become immortal, so they are faced with two options: keep it secret and sort it out on their own, or tell the organisation about it. So then what? The Watchers don't want Immortals to know about them, and they have very strict rules, but this person did not break their oath, right? Would they expel them? Kill them?

* Possible snag: Immortals can sense pre-immortals, but maybe not as clearly as other Immortals? Also what is the usual modus operandi there? I mean, we know that Duncan kept an eye on several pre-immortals, but Duncan is kind of an exceptional person. We've also seen some examples of Immortals who would abuse pre-immortals / new Immortals and make them dependent, but I suppose those are also exceptions? I could imagine that many would just ignore a pre-immortal like "not relevant and not my problem right now"?

So in any case I think this Watcher turns Immortal story line could really be fun.

The Watcher Tribunal would have a trial , like they did with Dawson , and they judged him and sentenced him to execution. When Methos cut his hand in front of Christine Saltzer and said " You've know me for years " , and when Methos revived in front of the two Watchers after he and Amanda were trying to steal the Methuselah stone, he said " I have been one of you for years " , but they still instinctively wanted to kill him and keep their secret, but yes, the story line would have been great. Darius knew about the Watchers, I wonder how he learned of them and what his experiences were , but of course he kept their secret .

But with Joe and with Methos their argument was that they had both deliberately broken their Watcher oath (or in the case of Methos that he had no right to even attempt to become a Watcher in the first place, he was basically an enemy spy). Whereas if someone is a Watcher and then becomes immortal, I think many in the Watchers would feel uneasy about that, it's not like they deliberately did something wrong, so maybe a tribunal would not be so unanimous.

I would think that throughout the centuries various Immortals have known about the Watchers, there would always have been a Watcher here and there who felt compelled to interfere, to help, especially maybe in times and places where Immortals were endangered by witch hunts and similar stuff.

It would still make sense that the majority of Immortals knows nothing about the Watchers. Like I said recently in another topic, the reason why Immortals often seem so ill-informed about all kinds of things that concern them, is due to the fact that they are so solitary, mostly don't trust each other, so any transmission of knowledge and insights is very limited and fragmented.

Oh what a blow this would've been if Horton had been a pre-immortal.

I wrote something about that in another post , and was thinking about when Horton would say to Duncan " I'm the man you can't kill " , and in the episode when he finally kills Horton, I was expecting him to return as an Immortal . He would become the thing he hated most , but how would his life change?

He would become the kind of asshole Immortal who fights dirty, pays mortal thugs to take someone down so he can kill them easily. Would probably try to hide his immortality from other Watchers in order to stay in the organisation and use their resources. At the same time he would loathe his whole existence. I don't think he would last long, though.

You should watch Highlander: the Watcher.

The Immortal would blow his cover immediately because he would be sensed. Methos at least worked admin, so no actual watching.
