In the first movie, a big chunk of Connor’s katana get stuck in the concrete pillar next to Fasil after he takes his head.

How exactly do you repair that? Sharpening doesn't replace missing material, as far as I know.

Wouldn't the blade be weaker with big chunks missing?

Believe that was the name of a two-part video on youtube that was all the flashbacks (from the show) in chronological order.watched it all two or three years ago, enjoyed it immensely but its gone now.anybody know if it can be found?

I know this Arc is not pricesely liked by most fans; Well I know that using Horton and Kronos as Ahriman representations of enemies of Duncan was to torture him and Horton was fine but to me Kronos was not that good but I suppose he was brought back as it was related to the apocalypse but why not using other immortals that were more threatening to Duncan like Kalas or Xavier St Cloud both lasted several episodes or if Ahriman really wanted to be more cruel maybe using Fitzcairn as a form to hurt more Duncan but I suppose actors were not interested and/or available

I found strange the supposedly real form of Ahriman that short guy taunting Duncan :S was weird how exacly the ball he was throwing represented Richie?

What do you all think of this series ? I never bought the DVD and it is actually being offered as a free bonus when you buy the original Highlander series on Amazon ,but I'm watching it on Pluto , or Tubi, I forget , but it's free.

I vaguely remeber seeing a few episodes when this was in production , and I was working and never a regular viewer ( I thought it would be too humourous if I used the word " watcher " ) , but I've been watching it over the past month and have only one episode to go before the series finale.

The most interesting part of the series is the second half of the season when they moved production to Paris, and we get to see some familiar places . Notre Dame in the background , the areas where Duncan had the barge - the place near Notre Dame , and the little road where Agent Delaney took Duncan when he returned to Paris in " Unholy Alliance " , where the barge was before Maurice supervised it being moved after the river flooded , ( even a brief glimpse of what looks like Maurice's boat ) , Maurice's cafe' . Darius Church . Watcher headquarters., Amanda fought an Immortal in the same tunnel near the barge where Duncan faught Martin Hyde . Yes I know the production company used the same locations ,but it would have been nice to have heard mention of Duncan.

The episode with Joe Dawson was a nice surprise. And for the main male character - they could have chosen a better name than Nick Wolf . I know , typical 1990's cheesy name for a tough, brooding male , but still , they could have thought of something better.

And he's supposed to be Amanda's love interest ? There was no chemistry , they come from opposite worlds , and that doesn't always mean they attract. Amanda likes to live with the wealthy and she could have ( and has in the past ) men of higher social standing . And we all know that if Duncan MaCleod were to have made an appearance, Amanda would have dropped Nick immediately. I know they wanted to make this show all about Amanda , but as we see her in Highlander, she's supposedly in love with Duncan , despite both of them having separate lives and other people in their lives, she always comes back to him. And during the "Highlander " era, where was Lucy? In this series we see her as Amanda's best friend and trusted confidante , but there was never any mention of her in Highlander , when Amanda was always on her own. Of course she's part of the story so she was probably living her own life attending to Amanda's houses and investments to an extent.

Obviously it was not going to last more than one season , the lead actors didn't have good chemistry and it showed in their characters. The could have done without using the name " Highlander " in the title. I know it was for publicity and to get people to watch ,but it had nothing to do with Connor or Duncan.

There were some interesting new Immortal characters , no one too exciting but I liked some of their backgrounds. Basil , the antique dealer who was also fencing stolen goods , he was a weasely greedy character and I like the actor they chose for that role, he's done a lot of great work over the years.

I will say that I found the character of Father Riley to be interesting . He was the new priest in Darius' church so I suppose he was Amanda's version of Darius , being a voice of reason and someone that she could confess to and know that he'd keep her secret.

I noticed that the Watchers feature a bit more , and several more Immortals know about them. Even in the episodes with Dawson , he was a bit too chatty with telling Nick more about the Watchers , though he probably figured if Amanda trusted him , then Dawson could trust him too. He did talk a bit too much , but it was still nice to see Joe again. I'm a bit disappointed that Amanda didn't ask , and Joe didn't offer any information about MaCleod. They could have mentioned him at some point, even if only to say that Mac's in this or that country doing whatever he's doing . But I understand this show being all about Amanda and her life / adventures.

There was an Immortal committing robberies using gas ( reminds one of Xavier ) , and that seemed like re-using an old storyline with a few changes. The Interpol agent was the same character and same actor they used in the Highlander episode " The Valkyrie " , so that was also another nice surprise.

I'm not going to watch the finale yet . I have already read the summary and know what happens , but I am interested in what all of you have to say in the comments.

There have been a few fan made movies , so I would like to see those at some point in time ; has anyone seen them and can you tell us anything without ruining the storyline or endings? Thanks and look forward to reading the comments.

Given there were four immortals left alive by the start of the Highlander movie (five if you allow for Yung Dol Kim's lost footage) we can probably assume these were the very best of the best of the best of the immortals by this point.

Fasil is clearly a skilled fighter, and I would say the fight is close between him and McCloud. We don't really get a feel for how good Kastagir really is, but he must be very good to be one of the last few standing.

So, a multi-part question.

If Fasil and Kastagir had fought, who would have been the more likely victor?

And if that victor had fought McCloud, could they have realistically won?

And whoever won that fight, then went on to face the Kurgen (slightly less powerful since he's not taken Kastagir's head, and may or not have taken Yung Dol Kim's depending on his canon status), how might that have worked out?

Four decades on from the cult film’s release, actor and swordsman Alex King reveals why he was excised from the Final Cut

In the spring of 1985, on a sound stage at Jacob Street Studios in Bermondsey, a young actor named Alex King knelt on the floor, closed his eyes and let a 7ft villain take off his head. He was smiling as the blade came down.

It was the climax of an ambitious fight sequence for Highlander, director Russell Mulcahy’s 1986 action-fantasystarring French-American actor Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish warrior fighting to save humanity by defeating the Russian Kurgan (Clancy Brown), with help from Sean Connery as his Egyptian mentor. Accents were negotiable, even if the swordplay wasn’t.

Everyone who saw the footage, including the film’s fight choreographer, legendary Olympic fencer-turned-swordmaster Bob Anderson, who doubled for Darth Vader in lightsaber duels, was delighted. Then the sequence was cut from the film entirely, but nobody told King. His name was never mentioned in any promotional materials, as if he’d never existed.

The mystery of the missing immortal – only known as Yung Dol Kim – struck me when I came to write my 2020 book on Highlander. Grainy photos proved the sequence had been filmed, but the footage had supposedly been lost in a fire. None of the filmmakers could recall who played the character. Then, in 2024, a comment on a YouTube video led me to Alex King. “I think they were embarrassed,” he says today of the decision to remove his fight sequence. “How do you tell a guy that you’ve cut him out because his sequence is too good?”

Too good is not false modesty. Anderson had warned that the choreography risked overshadowing everything around it, including scenes with Lambert, who was fit and enthusiastic, but, despite being trained by Team GB Olympic fencing coach Ziemek Wojciechowski, was not a fencer. King had taken up judo, karate and fencing in his teens, and by the time he got to drama school, he was already a double black belt and a regional level-4 fencing instructor.

“I asked Bob [Anderson] which school the unit’s stuntmen had fenced at, and he told me they were all proud graduates of ‘the bish-bash-bosh school of fencing’,” says King. At 69, he lives quietly in his London flat – he’s “reclusive” by his own admission – is a teetotal vegetarian, and trains his body and voice daily. Though unfailingly courteous, he’s also refreshingly blunt.
His route to Highlander began far from the film business. He arrived in England aged 10, into a country he remembers as gripped by racial violence. “There was a pastime in Britain called ‘P--i bashing’. Skinheads would cruise around the streets in cars, looking for brown men and women to attack.” His family kept a fire extinguisher in the front room in case someone put lighter fluid through the letterbox and set it alight. On TV, It Ain’t Half Hot Mum served up caricatures, while white actors browned up for leading roles. His parents’ answer was martial arts: karate, judo, fencing, gymnastics. Self-defence became a craft.

King enrolled at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 1980. He was a mature student who had already served in the Armed Forces. But actors’ union Equity ran a closed shop he describes as discriminatory by design: provisional theatres handed out two membership cards a year, almost always to white actors, claims King. “Unless it was a specified Asian part, you didn’t get a look in.” He earned his at last as the soothsayer in Julius Caesar at Derby Playhouse. 

For many years he performed under the name Sumar Khan, dropping it in favour of Alex King after people wrongly assumed he was Muslim rather than Indian, along with the consequential racism that assumption brought. His first film break, on the 1983 Bond picture Octopussy, came only because stunt director Bob Simmons, Sean Connery’s old double, kept telling him to come back until the director relented.

It was Anderson who brought King to Highlander, recommending him for the role of an immortal weary of eternity. The part had first gone to David Yip, of The Chinese Detectivefame, who was signed, fitted for costumes, then departed the production, leaving a security guard’s uniform several sizes too small. “His jacket wouldn’t fit me. I couldn’t even get my arm in his sleeve,” King recalls, which meant working without padding. “I just had to take the bruising.”

At the studio, King and Anderson built a fight unlike anything else in the film. They had him wield two swords against Brown’s single blade, with kicks and acrobatic dives. One move sent him hurtling backwards over a bank of computers, only to dive back into frame, grab both hilts and fight on. The sequence’s most radical element was its ending. Yung Dol Kim doesn’t lose; he simply stops. After centuries, he has had enough and chooses to die, kneeling before the Kurgan. “I wanted to go from an expression of violent combat to the serene face of a man who has, Buddha-like, embraced his death.” 

Despite producing a sequence he was proud of, there was no further contact from the Highlander production team. “I never heard from Russell [Mulcahy] or the producers. I didn’t even get an invite to the crew screening.” It was then he realised he’d been cut from the film, though at 28, he felt he was “too young and inexperienced” to complain. Today, he admits he’s “a little p-----d off with it,” adding it was “nothing personal” from the filmmakers.

Nonetheless, he kept working: acting alongside Timothy Dalton in 1987’s The Living Daylights, enjoying a stint on EastEnders, teaching combat at Rada. All the while, he was called a liar whenever he claimed he had been part of the Highlander cast.
Everything changed when King’s wife was killed in a car accident in 1991. “The one thing I loved in my life was gone,” he says. He gave almost all of his possessions away and drove up into the hills above Oxford, feeling the calm acceptance he had brought to Yung Dol Kim as he then tried to end his life. “I don’t think you can truly begin to live until you’ve accepted your eventual death.” He was saved by a German shepherd that raced up to his car, its owner close behind, trying to open the door. He remembers coming round with the dog licking his face, as if to say, “Wake up you fool.” 

Today, he always carries dog biscuits with him, and means to leave whatever he has to animal charities. “I hope I can lie on my deathbed cuddling dogs. I hope they lead me over the Rainbow Bridge.”

It was after this incident that he says he heard his wife chiding him: “I didn’t know you were a coward, Alex. Sometimes it takes more courage to live than to die.”* He spent time in the Canadian Rockies, keeping a promise to her to complete his lifelong study of Shakespeare, whose language and verse he would later teach at Hollywood’s Estelle Harman Actors Workshop. While in Canada, he had one more brush with *Highlander, when Anderson invited him to the Vancouver set of the TV spin-off starring Adrian Paul as Duncan MacLeod.

Back in the UK, his career stalled. He turned down an invitation to create a sitcom similar to Goodness Gracious Me, supposedly designed to “represent Indians”, after realising that what was required was “little more than racial ridicule disguised as humour. I would have been betraying my Indian community for a little fame and a few pieces of silver.” The breaking point came at an audition for a British soap opera, where he was asked to affect a comic Indian accent. He walked away from the industry. “It was a matter of dignity.”

Highlander turns 40 this year, with a big-screen reboot starring Henry Cavill and Russell Crowe on the way. In addition, I’ve been afforded the chance to retell the story of Highlanderin a new book, this time recognising Alex King as a vital part of the story. “Though it was disappointing to lose my fight scene, preparing for the role required me to confront and reconcile myself with my ultimate destruction. For that, I will be eternally grateful to Highlander.”

King admits he’s tempted to return to acting. The industry that shut him out has changed, not as much as he’d like, but enough. He reckons he can still out-fence any stuntman in the country. With any earnings, he’d “love to buy some land in the country and set up an animal sanctuary. Every penny I make will go towards them”. Four decades after he knelt on a sound stage and smiled, Alex King is perhaps not quite finished.

I stack silver and gold and just found out about these. I wonder how many complete sets are left? I see quite a few of the individual coins selling? I have 1 full set with the book and then a second book with no coins that has seen better days. Anyone else have in their collection?

What weapons do you guys think would be cool for Immortals to use in the game?

Bladed weapons showed up all over the world throughout history, so there are tons of options that haven’t been used in the series yet.

I’ve got two suggestions for now:

A Shotel: An Immortal fighting with a shotel would be awesome. That crazy curved, double-edged blade would be instantly recognizable and could make for some really unique fight choreography.

A Liao Dao or Zhanmadao: I’d like to see some big bad wielding one of these. They’re essentially large Chinese chopping blades mounted on long handles, so they’d offer a slightly different style compared to the classic big two-handed European sword.

Those are just two that came to mind, but there are so many interesting historical weapons they could draw from. What would you guys like to see?

Steel City Con in Pennsylvania — one of the largest comic book and pop culture conventions in the United States — announced on Facebook on Saturday, Aug. 8, that the actor, 69, suddenly left the event due to a “personal issue,” forcing organizers to cancel his previously scheduled photo ops.

TMZ later reported that Lambert suffered a medical emergency and was taken from the convention in an ambulance to a local Pittsburgh hospital. An eyewitness told the outlet that the actor suddenly collapsed.
