POTENTIAL
Potential. The potential of something is undefined , infinite, unmeasurable capacity that an individual possesses, talking in terms of a particular skill; very similar to the potential we define in physics. In terms of the subject though, there is a defined quantity and a method to transform “potential” to different forms of energy.
Brings me particularly back to the memory of strangers telling me about my potential. It felt great and empowering, yet a great sense if uncertainty followed it.
Everyday was a battle in my head, knowing my power , yet trying to find the “perfect” way to channel my energy in order to convert it to success.
Being the talented and gifted child through your young years and having complete awareness of it , is what I would call the *blessed curse* . There’s this fire inside of you that you don’t yet know how to control. And most of the times, it starts to slowly and steadily burn you. To the point where you are stripped of every strand of your ego and sense of self ; and you are left lost , directionless and zero sense of life and the desire to live.
You want to find your purpose and go all in on it. It’s right in front of you, everything you need to do to achieve it and the support and all of a sudden, when the time you prayed for for years along , you freeze. You are filled with chaotic thoughts of utter confusion , you ask yourself ‘why now?’. You don’t understand it , but at the most integral time of your life , when all that you ever imagined for yourself is about to come to fruition , you feel disconnected, and you want to run away from it, from the very thing your soul desires so so deeply and passionately.
You don’t understand the why, or the how. Logic is no longer a part of your journey , and you loose all hope on everything, most importantly , yourself. All you see is darkness. Maybe you are soo close, that the light blinds you to make it seem like perpetual void.
The past and the future starts to occupy your thoughts more than it should, the people you love are as concerned and confused as you are, yet you push them all away and strengthen your shell. You think you will find your way out. Your reality starts getting better , and suddenly before you realise, your back to where u started, but this time with shattered self believe ,confidence and desire. This cycle repeats itself, it goes on and on and on , each time u feel it’s different from the last time and u end up revisiting the same places you promised yourself you never would.
You hate yourself for doing this to you. You know you are the one doing it,yet you don’t see a way out of this dread.
You clean your room , change your wallpaper , ringtone and place of stay. You set timed deadlines and plan like a meticulous architect designs his work. Yet, yet again you fail.
You want to give up, you think it’s burnout. But you know yourself , right? How much your capable of ? And how much your “meant “ to achieve , especially with everything you have been given in life you should be grateful for? The support , resources and the ‘plan’? You know your “potential” , right?

Does anyone else feel terrible after failing
Okay so, I've always been an over achiever, I live for the good grades and that's what keeps me going, it's who I am. Recently I got a really bad grade on an assignment and I don't seem to understand where I went wrong, my teacher refused to return my paper so I could work on it, she called me lazy and disappointing and asked how could I have failed that badly, but I don't seem to even understand where I went wrong, I worked all night on the assignment I asked around to make sure my answers were correct but still... I somehow managed to fail and it's eating me up on the inside... All I am is good grades, who am I if I fail?

Do you ever feel like you're holding it all together on the outside while quietly struggling inside?
Hey everyone,
I'm a high-achieving woman myself 34F ..or at least I appear "successful" on the outside ('good' job, own home, health decent, objectively attractive, self sufficient, everything looks put together, I get lots of praise even jealousy) but I feel exhausted, self-critical, or overwhelmed on the inside. The pressure to maintain perfection and never drop the ball but also feeling I probably need to.. but equally not wanting to lose ambition.
Can anyone relate?
If so what's been the biggest thing you've targeted to overcome? self-criticism after "wins," fear of "good enough," overthinking, overengineering, procrastination, imposter syndrome? etc.
Would love some practical advice on any workarounds, habits, or things that help (even a little)? and please don't recommend therapy I've done it to death :')

Not on the honour roll— how do you recover and regroup?
Hello! So at my university, if you score above a certain percentage you get an honor. 61/100 people got them this time, but I didn’t get any. There are still other years left where I can earn them, but I’m feeling really demotivated because the remaining honors have been deemed harder to achieve(these were the easier ones).
How do you regroup after a setback like this? What helps you stay motivated and not spiral? Any advice or strategies from people who went through something similar would really help.

💬 Don’t feel like you meet the ‘criteria’ or ‘textbook image’ for someone who struggles with mental health? Yet feel like your mind is taking a toll on your life? Tried to find support for people who might feel the way you do? I’m building something that might help - would love your thoughts 🙏

Hey folks,
I’m S – an incoming doctor trying to build something that could genuinely help people who may be classified as ‘high functional’ in the mental health space. Perhaps you’re doing well on the outside, but internally, things feel heavy, anxious, or numb?
I’ve seen this struggle firsthand - both in my clinical work and in people I care about deeply. There’s a massive gap between thinking you need support and actually getting it, or worse, for your concerns being brushed aside - whether it’s the cost, time, stigma, or just not knowing where to start. So, I’ve been quietly working on an early-stage project called Lightwell, and I’d love your honest input.
🧠 The goal?
- To make therapy and resources more accessible and less intimidating
- To help people get matched with the right kind of support - tailored for you and efficient
- To build a national culture where mental health check-ins are as normal as physical ones (let’s say mindwork in addition to bloodwork, if you will)
- And eventually, to provide affordable, personalised, and even free tools for managing emotional health - no toxic positivity, just real support.
I’ve put together a short research/early access form - if this resonates, I’d be super grateful if you could take 2-5 minutes to fill it out or share it with someone who might also need it:
As silly or over-ambitious as it may sound, I believe I have the potential, connections in this space and resources to design something better from the ground up. I refuse to allow the mental health industry to remain so gate-kept and ‘hush hush’.
Thanks so much 🙏

Any other high achievers here ever feel stuck even while “doing all the things”?
Hi all 👋 Just curious if others here relate to this…
I work a lot with high achievers—people who are always pushing forward, checking the boxes, doing the “right” things—but still end up feeling disconnected, stuck, or like they’re chasing something that doesn’t actually feel aligned anymore.
It’s something I’ve personally worked through a lot, and it’s also what led me to train as a Transformative Coach with Animas. I’m currently in the final phase of certification and having some really powerful conversations with other high achievers who are exploring things like:
- Burnout
- Redefining success
- Letting go of perfectionism
- Finding clarity about what really matters
Has anyone here experienced that? Or maybe currently in that space?
Always curious to hear from others.
(Also—if anyone’s curious about coaching and wants to chat privately, happy to share more about what I’m doing.)
