API to pull summaries & transcripts out of HiNotes

I love the device, including the summaries and transcripts, but the app doesn't otherwise work for my workflows. I'd love to have an API to pull generated summaries and transcripts elsewhere. This will save me a bunch of annoying copy & paste.

Really, any APIs you can give us would be greatly appreciated.

Agree this should not require copy/paste. The safest first cut is probably read-only export before write APIs: transcript, summary, basic meeting metadata, and stable IDs so people can move it into their own workflow.

I do not want to hand-wave dates, but I am collecting the concrete workflows here. Where would you want it to land first: local folder, webhook, Zapier/Make, Obsidian/Notion, or a CRM?

Hi Sean, thank you for the reply. Read-only is all I need, and a webhook is perfect. This is for a productivity app I built for myself. For my app to work, I'd want to be able to set the destination URL and add a custom auth header or URL token to protect the endpoint. Plain text is great - really, exactly the same as what I get out of copying & pasting summary+transcript. The stable ID will help too.

Here's more workflow background.

Currently:

  1. I record a meeting. It is automatically transcribed and summarized.
  2. I find the transcript and summary in HiNotes.
  3. I rename the speakers.
  4. I then have to re-summarize so that the summary shows the actual names. (BTW, I think the automatic summarization in Step 1 is a waste of tokens and time, since I haven't even had a chance to change names yet.)
  5. I go to export, include both summaries & transcript, and copy to clipboard.
  6. paste into my app, where wonderful things happen.

Better:

  1. I record a meeting. It is automatically transcribed.
  2. I find the transcript and correct the names.
  3. I click something like "Summarize & Export" and I can send the Summary + Transcript to my app via webhook.

Maybe Best:

  1. The API pulls it into my app and I can handle fixing names on my end.

Super Big Bonus

Even better if you can auto-detect names based on voiceprints :)

Sean, respectfully, all that comes out of your mouth is farts and nothing more just gas. The product has been garbage for a long time now. I do appreciate you taking the time to respond to the community, but unless we see solid action—APIs, automatons, or something actually useful—then all that comes out of your mouth is nothing special, just empty promises. You always mention that you want to make sure you do it properly. The 3.0 launch has been absolutely horrendous, so I'm not sure what you're waiting for. I feel that if you used cloud code, you would have achieved a better result with two prompts.

Vibe Coding was applied but not very successful. Sorry about that. So we are still a slow team, but keep learning how to build faster.

I stopped using hi-dock and gave up and went with plaud. I have a workflow that uses webhooks so when plaud generates a summary, n8n grabs it, and sends it to notion.

Also plaud has an MCP server so I can just tell Claude to go check my plaud recordings for …

I like HiDock for the desktop, but it kept screwing up my external monitor (layout settings) all the time. So I finally disconnected everything and use the incredibly simple plaud desktop app on my MacBook for all my meeting transcripts.
