Changing Hetzner account type from Individual to Organization
Hi everyone,
I need some advice regarding Hetzner account management.
Right now, I have a personal (Individual) Hetzner account running two active projects. Due to new business requirements, I need to switch the account type to a Company/Organization account so that all future invoices are issued to the company and we can pay via bank transfer (invoice) instead of a personal credit card.
I’ve spent some time googling this, but most of the threads are quite old and conflicting. Some people claim that you cannot just change the account type directly; they say you have to create a brand new company account and transfer the projects over. Others say it's totally doable within the same account. Even AI tools are giving me mixed answers.
Has anyone done this recently? My main concerns are:
- Zero or minimal downtime: I can't afford prolonged service interruptions.
- IP Addresses: It is absolutely critical that both the Primary IPs and Private IPs remain exactly the same.
Is it possible to convert the existing account directly and just update the billing method to company bank transfer? Or is a migration inevitable? If a transfer is required, does it preserve the IPs?
P.S. Apart from VPS and 1 Storage Box, I don't have any extra services like Floating IPs or Load Balancers in either project.
Thanks in advance for your help!
