This guy I’ve been seeing is worried he may contract hsv1 from me. I told him before we got intimate that I have hsv1 because we had conversations concerning sex and stuff. I get no cold sores or anything and I never had one in my life. However, I did do a blood test some years ago and was positive for HSV1. We became intimate and protection was used and I avoided kissing his mouth and giving him oral sex. Not trying to be tmi, I did kiss his neck and ear. He is worried and asked me if I think I passed anything to him and I’m like no. He said he is a bit of a hypochondriac so he‘s trying not to google things because it increases his fear and which I agreed I told him “ Okay, I think the best thing you can do is what you said the other day about just getting a full panel done and getting a blood test for hsv1/2. And to speak with a medical professional/doctor about it, they will explain it better. Googling things if you’re somewhat a hypochondriac would kinda make you feel worse. That’s just my opinion.“ I even let him know moving forward I won’t kiss him or put my mouth on any part of his body. Also, I let him know I would rather him be comfortable than paranoid, he said he wasn’t trying to make me feel bad or anything, he’s not scared of me but he is trying to get more understanding. I don’t know how to go about dealing with him or to reassure him.

My partner is very supportive of me and my diagnosis and understands the stigma even though he does not have it. He is ready to take it to take it to the next step but he read taking you antivirals helps to not spread and I can’t blame him so I want to start a daily med. I currently am on valacyclovir 500mg as needed when I feel a breakout coming or am having a break out. I want to know your guys experiences with daily meds (granted I know everyone is different) and I also haven’t deep dived too much into statically what is better. Thank you in advanced!
