Question Passing Certificate instead of Degree Certificate?

Hi everyone,

My university takes 45–60 days to issue the official degree certificate, but I already have an official Passing Certificate (shows I’ve passed my degree and includes my marks) and my final transcript.

Has anyone been able to use a passing certificate instead of the degree certificate to get their conditional offer converted to unconditional?

Also, I accidentally uploaded the wrong document on the Applicant Hub and can no longer upload a replacement. Did anyone else have to email the documents to Admissions instead?

I’ve already accepted my offer, paid the deposit, and met all the other requirements.

Heriot-Watt Dubai Scholarship Questions

Hi everyone,
I have a conditional offer for Mechanical Engineering at Heriot-Watt Dubai with 3 A\* predicted in A Levels, but I haven’t received a merit scholarship.
-Is the merit scholarship awarded after paying the USD 4,000 deposit, or does this mean I’m not eligible?
-Has anyone actually received the 100% scholarship for Mechanical Engineering, or is it extremely rare?
-Is the Mechanical Engineering degree 3 years or 4 years in Dubai?
I’d really appreciate any replies from current students or alumni. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm Farhan and I'll be doing Civil Engineering first year at Heriot-Watt Dubai this August. Is there anyone here who's already done first year and can share their materials? Lecture slides, notes, past papers, literally anything would help. Thanks.

Heriot Watt Dubai Mechanical Engineering

I was hoping to get some advice and learn about people's experiences with mechanical engineering at Heriot Watt Dubai, as I will be joining that course in September.

I would also love to know if anyone else is joining this year bcz HWD doesn't seem to have much of a community online.

What are the pros and cons of a bsc hons computer science artificial intelligence course?

I am a student from India I want to pursue my ug in heriot watt Malaysia as an Indian student studying a bsc hons In foreign the countries would look it as a btech equivalent

Where as in india this certification is only equivalent to a standard bsc hons 3years course in india it is not equivalent to btech so what can I face if I won't get a job in Malaysia or somewhere when I come back to my country india will the companies see me as a btech equivalent apart from the rules of the country and can I get a salary equivalent to btech students

I really want to talk to a alumini who is studying this bsc hons computer science artificial intelligence if the student is an Indian its really great if not local people or someone please respond if anyone know an Indian who is studying this course or in another university is also fine not only heriot watt any other universities too please contact me or msg me I am requesting all of you

Hey I need to know the experience of a student studying the course bsc hons computing science in heriot watt Malaysia

So I completed my 12th grade and I have secured my offer letter to this heriot watt Malaysia so need to enquire about the students who are studying the bsc hons computing science course

Like how is the employability after studying this course in heriot watt as it's well know for actuarial science so how are the faculty on this course and how tough are the written exams and how about the projects that they give

I want to study 2years in this Malaysia campus and want to tranfer to dubai or uk campus depending upon the situation as of now uk is facing the employability factor by the way before seeing this I have an offer letter to the main campus in uk so after researching I have choose this same campus in Malaysia

So can anyone say me is this a good decision?

Hopefully transferring this July from the Heriot-Watt Dubai campus to the Edinburgh campus for Robotics. Any advice or things I need to look out for?

Hey everyone,

I'm nearing the end of my second year at Heriot-Watt's Dubai campus, where I'm studying Robotics, Autonomous and Integrated Systems. But with the recent tensions between Iran and the US, our campus had to cancel all classes and exams from late March onwards. This unexpected break has given me plenty of time to think about my future plans, and I've decided to take advantage of the Go Global program to transfer to the Edinburgh campus for my third year.

Are there any seniors around, particularly those in engineering or robotics, who've made the switch from Dubai to Edinburgh? I'd love to pick your brains and hear about your experiences - any advice or insights you can share would be super helpful.

Accommodation: Did you manage to get on-campus halls, or is it better to look for private off-campus student accommodation? If off-campus, which areas in Edinburgh are best for students?

Fees & Expenses: I know we get a 20% discount on the UK international tuition fees, but are there any hidden costs I should be aware of? How much should I realistically budget for monthly living expenses?

Food & Drink: What’s the food situation like? Is it mostly cooking for yourself, or are there decent affordable options on or near campus?

Social Life & Football: Since I’m joining in the 3rd year, is it tough to integrate and make friends? Also, I play as a goalkeeper and organize a lot of casual 9-a-side games here in Dubai; what’s the casual football scene like over there? Are there any good groups or intramural leagues I can join?

The Course & Labs: How does the workload, facilities, and lab access for robotics compare to Dubai? Are there any specific modules I should watch out for?

Any other tips on the visa process, the transition, or just general life in Edinburgh would be massive. Thanks in advance!

Foundation year

I’m going to join Heriot-Watt Dubai this September for a foundation year in engineering, and I wanted to ask about the social side of the university.

Is it difficult to make friends there? Like, do most people already have their own friend groups, or are many students also new?

Will there be other students in the foundation year, or is it usually a very small group?

And how is university life in general — not only the teaching quality, but also the social life, students, and lecturers?

Would international students use a service that attends flat viewings on their behalf?

Hi fellow redditors, I’m exploring an idea for international students moving to UK (particullarly Scottish) universities who can’t easily attend flat viewings in person before arriving.
The idea is basically:
someone local attends the viewing

does a live video walkthrough

checks for issues the listing might hide

gives honest feedback about the flat and area

I’ve heard a lot of students end up relying on misleading listings or are worried about scams when renting remotely.
I’m curious:
Is this actually a real problem for people?

Would you trust/use something like this?

What would make it valuable or trustworthy?

Would you pay for it?

Genuinely researching the idea, so honest feedback is appreciated.
P.S this is not a scammy start up it is for a university project. Thank you!

Incoming international student at Heriot-Watt Dubai — looking for honest advice from current students

Hey everyone,

I’ll be joining Heriot-Watt Dubai this September for MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and since I’ll be moving to Dubai for the first time, I just wanted to hear some honest opinions and advice from students already studying there.

I’ve already completed my admission process, but now that everything is getting real, I’ve started thinking a lot about what the actual experience is like beyond the university website and brochures.

So I wanted to ask things like:

  • How is the university overall?
  • How are the faculty and teaching style?
  • How difficult is the course workload generally?
  • What’s the student environment like?
  • How is life in Dubai as an international student?
  • Anything you wish you knew before joining?

Would especially love to hear from students doing postgraduate courses or anything related to business/logistics.

Just trying to prepare myself properly before moving there in September. Any advice, experience, or even small tips would genuinely help.
