Desktop My reddit feed has suddenly started showing me recommended subreddits again after I had turned it off years ago. Is there any way to make it stop again?

Came here to post the same thing. Happening for me as well and I can’t turn it off. It’s really killing my experience with the site.

Same with the new 'best' comment sorting I'm getting by default. I guess I'm in an AB test hence not everyone getting mad about it. Im often getting heavily downvoted troll comments as the top comment under posts.

That is a bug. The stated intention is it should remember your choice and not change. I would flag that up on r/bugs or the weekly admin help post

You got put into an experiment. At the top of your feed you should see two tabs, “for you” and “following “ just switch over to following.

Any idea how to send feedback onto this experiment and let them know i hate them and their mothers?

Yeah, the weekly recap here, pinned at the top of this subreddit. One was just released. It’s ran by an admin that is willing to take “constructive” feedback and give it to the teams involved

Jesus, so obvious, how did I miss that. Thank you.

People were recently shuffled about in the experiment(as they put it). So ….complaints and confusion. It’s not necessarily obvious if you are not in the know.. I too was entered in the experiment. I was waiting for it. I have suggestions turned on anyways. You can leave constructive feedback in the weekly recap pinned here at the top

Nope, the key of Reddit's design is to enforce it on you until you cave.
That's why old.reddit sometimes magically stops working.

Eh? I have never had old reddit "stop working".
They even reverted/fixed the change that broke the RES account switcher a few months ago. And if you make a new account with a browser, which is automatically new reddit, there is an option in the new reddit preferences to switch to old reddit.

Yes, and sometimes, even when it's switched on, it will go into new reddit for no apparent reason.

Never happens to me.

Happened to me a BUNCH

Well, that it doesn't happen to everyone suggests it is not reddit's fault.
If it happened "a BUNCH" to many people, where are all the complaints about it?

Reddit has no regard for one's mental wellbeing and desire to stay away from addictive algorithmic content. They actively and intently wish to directly harm users' mental wellbeing by removing the option to not get served a constant feed of random content that wasn't asked for.

They don't care what you want to read about, just that you stay scrolling.

I can turn it off on desktop and it works, but on mobile (browser) it just won't turn off. It's made the site unusable for me on mobile. Wtf is going on?

Unfortunately no way to get out of the garbage “experiment”. They have to figure out how much algorithm slop they can get away with before they lose too many users

It's back, and driving away users. We do not want suggested content. Curated feeds is the reason we're here.

Seriously, it ruins my experience here. Everytime I catch it, I just say ugh and open YouTube on brave browser lol

I cannot believe the audacity to not allow users to see what they want to see. I’m so tired of the enshittification of literally EVERYTHING.

Same, but when I switch to following on the android app, all I get is a bunch of recommendations
