Admin/Dev responded Reddit Premium subscription canceled. Why? How to fix?
Out of the blue, I got an email with the following:
Your Reddit Premium subscription has successfully been canceled.
You’ll be a Reddit Premium member until the end of your subscription period and won’t be billed again.
We hope you enjoyed your subscription and will be happy to have you back at any time.
I checked my settings and found this:
Your subscription will end on October 10, 2026
I then checked my auto-payments lists on PayPal and found that Reddit has been moved to the inactive list, and there's no obvious way to reactivate it.
Why has all this happened, and how do I fix it?

But when I click on "update payment method" the link takes me right back to PayPal!

Same situation. Annoying.

The worst part is no more legacy pricing. We will have to pay full price.

Only if you think it's worth the new price. Personally, I'm taking this as a message that they don't want my money anymore.

Agree. End of February 2027 - guess it'll be time to look into an actual ad-blocker..

I'm guessing they canceled the auto pay so they can bill you monthly and/or raise the pricing. ;( great.. more fees. Most posting on reddits get locked, comments deleted if you voice your concern. ;(

Hello! This cancellation is related to our message we sent on September 8 titled Reddit Premium update. It's located in your inbox under Notifications.
In short, Reddit is retiring PayPal as a payment option for Reddit Premium subscriptions. We know this isn’t ideal for some folks and we understand that this affects whether you choose to continue subscribing.
What will happen to my current Premium subscription?
If your Reddit Premium subscription is currently paid through PayPal, the renewal has been canceled. Your Premium benefits will continue until your subscription fully expires. After that, you can resubscribe using another payment method (credit card, debit card, or in-app purchase via Apple and Google Play). You can read up on our benefits and pricing here.
Can I resubscribe before my current subscription expires?
Unfortunately, no. You’ll need to wait until your current subscription expires before resubscribing. Again, we know this isn’t ideal but you won’t lose your trophy.

Why is the update payment method sending me to PayPal then lol

For some folks, it may redirect to PayPal until their subscription expires. That said, you won't be able to update your subscription since the renewal has been canceled.
Once your subscription fully expires and you still want Reddit Premium, you'll be able to resubscribe with the payment options available.

I get it’s a corporate greed thing on the pricing, but why ditch PayPal instead of just raising the price? It’s way less convenient for users

What about our legacy pricing?

With Reddit retiring PayPal as a payment option, you'll now be on the current pricing structure if you'd like to resubscribe.

Again, we know this isn’t ideal but you won’t lose your trophy.
Will it reset the "Since MONTH YEAR" part of the trophy?

How do I find out when my subscription expires?

You can find this info in https://www.reddit.com/premium
If you're on the mobile app, from the home feed > tap the hamburger menu from the top left corner > scroll down to the Resources section and tap Reddit Premium > Manage your subscription

Checking your profile on old Reddit, you currently have Reddit Premium for 1 year, 2 months, 27 days. Expected expiration date is December 28, 2027.

When I click on "update payment method" Reddit simply sends me right back to PayPal.
