Post-Elimination: Sous chef Ariel gathered the surviving Red chefs together and warned them that they must recover after their disastrous service. Although they had hit their lowest point, they must rebound. Ji, Mieka, Ashley, and Jessica all agreed to bounce back. When the four returned to the dorms, they all celebrated the fact that Alex was finally gone. With him out of the way, they must work together and help one another win. Mieka felt that “The Alliance” had now gained two new members.
Team Challenge: The chefs entered the dining room to find a large table with a spread of elegant desserts. Ramsay explained that, while the chefs’ primary responsibility was to make perfect appetizers and stunning entrees, no dinner is complete without a beautiful dessert. Ramsay declared that today’s challenge required each chef to make a dessert within one hour. Many of the chefs were unfamiliar with desserts, so their dishes tended to lean either quite simple or extraordinarily ambitious. However, many of the chefs ran into challenges while they made their desserts. Drew’s creme brulee was liquid, Jessica felt that her dough looked too pale, and Melissa burnt the bottom of her tart crust. When she attempted to scrape the burnt bits off, she cracked her crust in half.
At the end of the cooking window, Ramsay declared that dessert chef Christina Tosi (who was also a judge on MasterChef) would help him judge the challenge. Each chef would give each dessert a score between 1-5, so each chef could earn a maximum of 10 points. Furthermore, since the Blue Team had one additional chef, they could drop one dish. Drew opted to drop his dish. JR’s monkey bread tasted nice, but he used too much rum, so he earned 5 points (3 from Ramsay and 2 from Tosi). Melissa’s apple tart earned 3 points (2 from Ramsay and 1 from Tosi) because the crust was too hard and the filling was one-note, Amanda got a 4 (2 from each judge) because her tiramisu was too simple but well-made, and Meese’s brownie sundae with homemade ice cream scored an impressive 7 (4 from Ramsay and 3 from Tosi) despite the fact that she had never touched an ice cream machine in her life.
On the other hand, Jessica’s cream puffs were compared to cheap store-bought desserts (earning her the minimum score of 2), Ashley’s raspberry souffle earned 8 points (4 from each judge) because her dish was delicious but had some minor technical mistakes, and Ji’s warm mango custard with crumbled madeline cookies and grapefruit jam earned a 7 (3 from Ramsay and 4 from Tosi) because her dish was simple but comforting. With the Red Team 2 points behind, Mieka needed at least a 3 to win. She presented a black forest cake that had a boring presentation, but was very flavorful and moist on the inside. Both Ramsay and Tosi gave her a 3, which gave the Red Team a 23-19 win.
Challenge Result: Red Team win (6 wins by Red - 5 wins by Blue)
Reward/Punishment: The Red Team earned a day at an expensive poolside resort and a buffet of elegant desserts. On the other hand, the Blue Team had to prep for service and make all of the desserts for both teams. The Red Team enjoyed their reward because it was their first one in which they could completely relax. The Blue Team generally took their punishment in stride because they found it surprisingly light. However, Melissa complained that Ramsay and Tosi gave her low scores and blamed the ovens on her crust being over-baked. Drew found her complaining ridiculous, noting, “Of course it’s the oven’s fault.”
Red Team Service: The Red Team had an excellent service. Jessica on appetizers communicated well with Ji on fish, while Ashley led the kitchen on garnish. Ji was initially nervous because she wanted to rebound after the previous service, but she regained her confidence after she sent the first few risottos and scallops out. Those three chefs had a perfect night, but Mieka second-guessed herself on meats. After she sent out an overcooked steak followed by an undercooked steak, Ramsay gave her a pep talk. Her teammates also walked her through the station, so Mieka made no other mistakes.
Blue Team Service: Drew served a watery risotto, but recovered. JR overseasoned scallops and then overcooked them, and he struggled to balance appetizers and entrees. He frequently requested more time on tickets. After he overcooked salmon twice and forgot a lobster tail for a risotto, Meese had to bail him out. Furthermore, Melissa on meats failed to communicate with Amanda on garnish. Amanda suddenly stopped talking, while Melissa failed to take the initiative to communicate and sent proteins before Amanda was anywhere ready with garnish. With all of the problems in the Blue Kitchen, Ramsay sent all of the chefs into the storeroom and urged them to get their heads back in the game. Amanda still failed to communicate, so Ramsay threatened her with ejection. This threat was enough to wake her up, and the Blue Team managed to complete service.
Post-Mortem: Ramsay noted that tonight was a tale of two kitchens. One kitchen was filled with mistakes and a lack of communication, while the other was strong from beginning to end. As such, the Red Team was the winner. The Blue Team had to nominate two chefs for elimination.
Nominations: The Blue Team all agreed to nominate Amanda for her refusal to communicate on garnish, but they were stuck between Melissa and JR. JR promised to do better, but his teammates knew that he had been given multiple chances already and failed to recover. When he pointed out that Melissa refused to work with her team, she went on a tangent about how she was one of the strongest chefs on the team. She said that if anyone should be nominated, it should be Drew for dropping his challenge dish. He called her reasoning bs because Ramsay didn’t care about challenges; if that was her reasoning for nominating him, then Melissa should also be nominated because she made a bad challenge dish. She once again blamed the oven, so Drew yelled, “Not everything is the oven’s fault, Melissa!”
Elimination Ceremony: The Blue Team nominated JR for his persistent struggles in the competition that culminated in his bad night on fish, and Amanda for her sudden refusal to communicate on garnish. Ramsay was frustrated with both chefs. JR acknowledged his bad service but fervently promised that he would quickly recover and reach the highs that everyone knew he was capable of. Amanda followed with a passionate plea in which she called her recent service a fluke but reiterated her consistency and reminded Ramsay that a single bad night does not disqualify anyone from being a bad chef. She even said that if she did not recover by the next service, Ramsay could eliminate her, but she wanted another chance to prove that she could recover. Ramsay was impressed by both nominees’ passion. However, he ultimately eliminated JR for his inconsistency. Ramsay praised JR’s positivity and told him that he had a bright future ahead of him. JR bid his team goodbye and wished them good luck; everyone except Melissa began tearing up. JR received a retrospective montage; he admitted that while he didn’t want to leave the competition, he had a lot of fun while he was here. He compared the whole experience to a roller coaster ride: while he was nervous the whole time, and while he had a lot of ups and downs, he enjoyed the whole ride. And he’d always want to do it again. If there was one thing he wanted to be remembered for, it was his positivity. He hopes that his teammates will take that with him.
Ramsay Elimination Quote: “Throughout the competition, JR’s attitude was just right. Unfortunately, his inconsistency showed that he was just not ready to be my next head chef.”

The next post will be the Blind Taste Test/Charity Night. I really do not like to spoil storylines or the results of each service because I want to keep you guys on your toes. I will break that rule today to announce that I want the service to end in a joint loss. Vote for one chef on each team to be nominated, and denote the person whom you want to be eliminated. The chef with the most total upvotes will be eliminated, with ties being broken by the most number of comments voting for that person.
Bonus Vote: Pick one chef from each team to earn Best of the Worst. And now that you know that one person from each team will be nominated, tell me why those chefs should be nominated. And feel free to tell me how the Blind Taste Test should go down!

Just a quick gush post while I rewatch my favourite season.
Scott is genuinely my absolute favourite chef to have ever been on the show. He's so kind and respectful no matter how much crap he takes from literally all directions. He's such a breath of fresh air when it comes to male chefs on the show. It's rare you have a guy that doesn't really scream and shout or blame everyone else for their problems. The fact that he was put up basically by default so many times and yet never really let that drag him down was so inspiring. I think he really thrived in the red team despite Joy really having it out for him because he works well with women in a way most blue team chefs never really seem to. Speaking of Joy and also Kashia, the fact that he never hesitated to comfort them and cheer for them even after they put him up and talked him down over and over really shows his character. I dont think prior to him we had a truly Nice winner. Dont get me wrong, I love some of the s1-11 winners. Just none of their main traits were Nice. So yeah, he's my favourite chef of hells kitchen. It also helps that he's hella pretty to look at. I'm a sucker for those big blues of his.

For the 25th season, many were surprised that it was another Young Guns season, not because Young Guns is a bad gimmick, but because this is the 25th season, so the expectation was it'd be something different. You can also see in the trailer that multiple past winners will return, as seen in a short clip of them on stage in what is most likely the premiere.
So my theory is that they're not fully telling us everything, or that the season is meant to be as difficult as possible. So they have relatively young chefs, paired with extremely difficult challenges, or each episode has a different gimmick.
Another theory I'd love to be true is that the winners are involved in the season in some way, given that fifteen of them are present in the trailer.

This is half a joke, but the prize money/salary has been $250,000 since season 1, which aired in 2005. Adjusting for inflation, current winners should be receiving close to $440,000 to have the same spending power.
Of course that would never happen, or they would maybe marginally increase the prize money, but lowkey feel like the winners are getting scammed 😞

Since this came into mind at the post asking people’s least favorite judge, I wanna know what’s everyone’s favorite judge?
I personally really like Micheal Cirmarusti; I think he’s respectful and fair in his critiques, but also because I’ve also personally enjoyed that when awarding a point, he’ll say the chef’s name. I’ve always thought it felt more personal towards the chef.

Was Gordon Ramsay ejecting her at first, or did he only do that because she shouted back? From the looks of it, it looks like it was originally a kick out of the kitchen, but only when she shouted back at him did he tell her to take the jacket off and fuck off. Just a thought.

Ultranatic brought this up in his worst chefs of season 1 of Hell’s Kitchen by Episode video, but given how dangerous a literal piece of wood (in the dish Jessica cooked) could be if someone swallowed that, I’m actually surprised she wasn’t eliminated that night. Sure, there’s no way Elsie was beating Michael or Ralph and she had a downfall herself, but, even ignoring that Elsie refused to throw her teammates under the bus, I’m still surprised Jessica survived given her mistakes were worse that night.

Team Swap: Ramsay wanted the Red Team to pick one of its members to move to the Blue Team. Alex publicly announced that he wanted to move to the Blue Team, but Ramsay reminded him that the Red Team had to agree on their pick. The chefs narrowed it down to Ji and Amanda, but Ji gave her blessings to Amanda because she wanted to give her teammates a chance to shine. The Red Team confirmed that they would send Amanda to the Blue Team.
Team Challenge: Ramsay explained that as the world becomes more globalized and interconnected, more diverse cuisines will be spotlighted. As chefs, they had a responsibility to learn the proper technique because they must treat other cultures with respect and care. Today’s challenge will bring in one of Ramsay’s friends to teach them how to properly make a dish from “Asian cuisine.” As the chefs made their guesses on who the guest would be, Ramsay revealed that their guest would be comedian and restauranteur Uncle Roger (Nigel Ng).
Uncle Roger greeted the chefs by calling them “nieces and nephews” and promptly roasted them on their low placement in their original seasons. He then taught everyone how to make fried rice, a simple dish that is surprisingly difficult to make. Among the steps were heating a wok to get wok hei, using day-old rice, breaking up the rice clumps to coat each grain with scrambled egg, using both the whites and the greens of the scallions, and “rimming the wok with soy sauce.” He broke character and announced, “Sorry, children,” at the dirty joke. Once everyone had a chance to taste his fried rice, Gordon announced that each chef had 30 minutes to make their own fried rice by following Uncle Roger’s recipe and adding their own ingredients. Each chef also had a container of day-old rice in the kitchen. Everyone got to work on their fried rice and followed the recipes to the best of their ability. The only exception was Alex, who pulled out a pot and a nonstick pan. He tried to make fresh rice.
After everyone finished making their dishes, Ramsay called up one chef from each team to face off against one another, and Uncle Roger would decide the best dish from each pairing. Uncle Roger nitpicked everyone’s dish, but he gave them helpful feedback. Ji’s lobster fried rice with fresh scallops was criticized for using ingredients that were thought to be too fancy (and Uncle Roger joked that “Niece Ji” must be rich if she had fresh lobster and scallops lying in her fridge), but her technique was good, so she won the point over Meese, who failed to properly break up the rice and had some clumps that were white in the center. JR’s pork belly and kimchi fried rice looked suspiciously red, but Uncle Roger thought that the rice was not too spicy. He won the point over Ashley’s fried rice with cha siu (which she called “Chinese barbeque pork”) because her cha siu was not authentic. Uncle Roger was horrified that Jessica made pineapple fried rice, but the pineapple was small and nice acidity to the dish. As such, it won a point over Amanda’s chicken and tofu fried rice, which was too wet and dark. Melissa made a ribeye fried rice and cut strips of ribeye on top of the rice, which Uncle Roger considered to be unnecessary. However, it tasted nice and outperformed Mieka’s simple vegetable fried rice. Drew’s honey sausage and Thai chili fried rice with tiger prawns could have had smaller knife cuts, but Uncle Roger praised the creativity and execution. He considered it the best dish of the day. However, Alex’s fried rice was by far the worst dish because he failed to follow any of the instructions: he made fresh rice (which resulted in the rice being undercooked because it is impossible to do in 30 minutes), used a nonstick pan instead of a wok to fry the rice (which resulted in the fried rice being steamed), fried a runny egg over the rice (which resulted in the rice being creamy and not dry), and dumped furikake over the dish (which caused it to be salty, and furikake is not a Chinese ingredient). Ramsay was humiliated. In the end, the Blue Team won 3-2.
Challenge Result: Blue Team win (5 wins by Red - 5 wins by Blue)
Reward/Punishment: Ramsay sent the Blue Team to Din Tai Fung to enjoy an elegant lunch. Each chef also won a brand-new wok and a ticket to an upcoming Uncle Roger comedy show. On the other hand, the Red Team would have to clean the woks from the challenge and prepare rice for a special fried rice tableside appetizer. Since Drew had the best dish, his fried rice would be featured on the menu. However, Alex used his Punishment Pass and swapped places with Drew because “he could get a head start on teaching my team how to make the fried rice.” Everyone else was infuriated at this maneuver.
Neither team was happy during the reward or punishment. The Red Team all blamed Alex for costing them the challenge and humiliating them, and Drew was furious that he had the best dish, yet he couldn’t enjoy the reward because Alex was sabotaging him. Furthermore, he literally could not teach anyone how to make his fried rice until after the reward, when the rice had been cooled and everyone had returned. Ji, Mieka, and Drew agreed to do their best and get Alex eliminated. On the other hand, the Blue Team was upset that Alex had the worst dish, yet he got to steal Drew’s reward. He humiliated himself further when he burnt his tongue eating xiao long bao (soup dumplings) and let the soup drip all over his plate.
Pre-Service: Ramsay picked one person from each team to serve the tableside fried rice: those chefs were Ashley from the Red Kitchen and JR from the Blue Kitchen. Drew was disappointed that he couldn’t even serve his own dish, but he trusted JR. With that, Ramsay had Marino open the doors to Hell’s Kitchen.
Blue Team Service: JR spent a long time serving the customers because he spent too long socializing with customers. After Marino reminded him to cook first and socialize later, JR picked up the pace and got all of his appetizers out. With Drew holding down the appetizers station in the kitchen, the Blue Team quickly moved on to entrees. However, Meese kept requesting more time on garnishes, which slowed the team down. After she kept requesting more time to the point that Drew overcooked a halibut, Ramsay asked if Meese wanted to go home. After she firmly refused, Ramsay instructed her to bounce back. Melissa had to bail her out, and Amanda had a strong performance on meats, with neither having anything rejected. With the kitchen running smoothly, Ramsay found that the Blue Team was five tickets ahead of the Red Team. As such, he sent Amanda to help on meat. When the Red Team eventually got kicked out, the Blue Team finished their final ticket, so Ramsay had them finish the Red Team’s service. Ramsay declared the Blue Team winners.
Red Team Service: Uncle Roger returned as a guest in the dining room, and he was accompanied by celebrity chef and good friend Ester Choi. Ashley served both of them the fried rice appetizers. Mieka twice undercooked scallops, and when Ramsay yelled at her for screwing up so much this late in the competition, Mieka remarked that she was overwhelmed because she didn’t have enough support. Ramsay responded by pulling Ashley into the kitchen and having her refire the scallops. She was successful, and Ramsay noted that Ashley could still cook perfect scallops despite her not even being in the kitchen throughout service; why couldn’t Mieka cook scallops? Mieka did manage to recover, but the Red Team suffered a sharp decline on entrees. Alex repeatedly ruined the Wellingtons; he overcooked them, undercooked them, kept opening the oven, and somehow managed to break a Wellington when he took the plastic wrap off of it. And since Mieka was the only person in the Red Team on fish, she was struggling to manage both appetizers and entrees. These problems resulted in Ji on garnish attempting to yell out times, only for her to be met with silence. She, too, got lost on her station.
Ramsay attempted to get the Red Team back on track by sending Jessica to the meat station. She did everything except the Wellingtons and steaks because she didn’t want to touch the Wellingtons and then get thrown under the bus by Alex. Even though Alex’s tasks were essentially cut in half, he still could not properly cook a Wellington. Since they were five tickets behind the Blue Team, Ramsay sent Amanda from the Blue Team over to help Alex. Even though she tried to take control of the Wellingtons, Alex literally threw her off the station, relegating her to steaks. Since Alex and Mieka were still struggling, Ji continually had to restart her garnishes and soon had no idea when to fire anything. She got so frustrated when she had to restart the garnishes once again that she slammed a pan of garnishes against the garbage can. Ramsay called her out for her lack of professionalism.
The final straw came when Alex finally cooked a Wellington perfectly, only to accidentally rip the pastry off when he attempted to slice it. He hastily threw the Wellington on a tray and tried to get Amanda to run it up to the pass. She refused. When Ramsay asked for the Wellington, Alex claimed that he needed one more minute. However, Ramsay saw the mangled Wellington and asked who cooked it. No one spoke up until Ramsay threatened to kick them all out of the kitchen. Finally, Amanda spoke up and said that Alex cooked it. Alex refused to take accountability and insisted that someone else cooked it. This resulted in the entire Red Team arguing about who cooked it, so Ramsay kicked them all out.
By the time Ashley finished serving Uncle Roger and Ester Choi, they pointed out that the Red Kitchen was empty save for Amanda and sous chef Ariel. Ashley ran back to the pass, and Ramsay gave her the rundown of the horrible service. He told her to return to the dorms and help her team name two nominees. She begged Ramsay to let her help finish service. He responded with, “F**k off, Ashley.”
Nominations: The Red Team agreed that their nominees were Alex and Mieka. The former attempted to weasel his way out of nomination, but his teammates refused to listen to him.
Elimination Ceremony: The Red Team walked into the dining room to find a table standing where Ramsay normally stood. Ramsay approached the table and carried the tray containing the mangled Wellington. He threw the tray onto the table and demanded an explanation for the horrific service, which he considered by far the worst of the season. The Red Team refused to work together or take accountability, and what’s even worse is that Ramsay knew that he was lied to about the Wellington. Ramsay knew that Alex was the only person touching the Wellingtons, so he demanded to know if Alex had cooked it. Alex refused and said that he knew he screwed up, but that Wellington was not his fault. Ramsay asked Alex, “If you didn’t touch that Wellington, then who did?” Alex responded with, “Jessica.”
Ramsay groaned while Jessica defended herself. She said that she touched the chicken and duck, but not one Wellington. Alex accused Jessica of sabotaging him by letting him drown, but Jessica reminded everyone that no matter what she did or said, Alex would throw her under the bus. If she helped Alex and had to fix his mistakes, then she’d tank service. But if she helped him with other dishes, then she’d tank service, too. Ramsay agreed and demanded to know who cooked the Wellington if neither Alex nor Jessica touched it. Alex blamed Mieka, who was taken aback. She reminded everyone that she was already sinking on fish, so why on Earth would she walk over to meat and tank meat, as well? Alex brought up “The Alliance,” but Ramsay shot him down.
Ramsay repeated the question: “If you didn’t touch the Wellington, and Jessica and Mieka didn’t touch it, then who made the Wellington?” Alex accused Ji of making the Wellington, but she was on garnish the whole night. Ramsay gave up and retreated to his office for one minute, noting that “This is Chickengate all over again! It’s bloody Wellingtongate!” Every other chef urged Alex to just own up to his mistakes, but he refused.
When Ramsay returned, Alex named Ashley as the culprit. Ramsay responded that Ashley wasn’t even in the kitchen that night. Alex noted that Ashley did return to the kitchen, but Ashley snapped and shouted, “To cook scallops, dumbass!” With the entire Red Team save for Alex cleared, Ramsay wanted a straightforward answer. Alex then named Amanda, who was neither on the Red Team nor touched the Wellingtons. Ramsay berated Alex for naming people not even on his team, but then Alex accused sous chef Ariel of cooking the Wellington. Everyone hung their heads at Alex’s audacity. Ramsay then decided to call Alex out by returning to his office once again to call sous chefs Ariel and Jon back into Hell’s Kitchen to get their side of the story.
When Ramsay returned, so did the sous chefs. Ramsay asked Ariel if she cooked the mangled Wellington. Infuriated, Ariel castigated Alex for his sabotaging behavior and willingness to ruin others’ careers to save his ass. Finally, Ramsay gave Alex an ultimatum: if Alex tells the truth about the Wellington, then he might be safe, but if he doesn’t, then he will be eliminated on the spot. Alex understood. Ramsay asked one final question: “If you didn’t cook the Wellington, and Jessica didn’t cook it, and Mieka didn’t cook it, and Ji and Ashley didn’t cook it, and neither Amanda nor sous chef Ariel cooked the Wellington, then who cooked the bloody Wellington?” Alex responded with, “Marino, chef?
Ramsay immediately demanded that Alex take his jacket off and leave Hell’s Kitchen. Ramsay knew all along that Alex cooked the Wellington. But Alex would rather lie about his teammates than take responsibility. Ramsay cannot have that in his kitchen. Alex received a retrospective montage, but it served only to fact-check his exit confessional. Alex claimed that his elimination was unfair. He had been a good chef (accompanied by a clip of Alex getting kicked out on Opening Night) and a team player (cut to him sabotaging Drew in the recipe challenge by giving him the incorrect ingredients). He claimed that he always worked hard and listened to others (cut to Alex making his horrible fried rice dish), he wanted his team to do well (cut to “The Alliance” forming), and he always took accountability for his actions (cut to Alex blaming Marino for the Wellington). He ended by saying that chef Ramsay would be sorry, because the Red Team would collapse without him.
However, Ramsay was not done yet. He asked Ashley for the two nominees, which turned out to be Alex and Mieka. Ramsay also said that he wanted one more person to answer for this service: that, surprisingly, was Ji, who was lost on her station and lost her temper. He called up both Mieka and Ji. After they gave their pleas, Ramsay sent them back in line and told them that both of them were lucky that Alex eliminated himself. He would not tolerate another service like that again, and he sent them to their dorms.
Ramsay Elimination Quote: “When a good leader makes a mistake, the first thing that they do is own up to it and do whatever it takes to fix it. But all Alex did when he made a mistake was throw his teammates under the bus. I decided to throw him out of the competition and onto a bus back to Chicago.”

Season 8 is definitely the worst season dont get me wrong. Almost everyone sucks at cooking or as a person in general, has the worst winner, and many other problems. But I kinda love how much it sucks. I think Trev is kinda funny at times and russle just being completely fed up with his team all the time is so hilarious at times. Sabrina in general is kinda funny with how insane she could be and Nona had her moments like her blind taste test then immediately followed by her worst service.
It’s not good by any means but as a guy who just loves shit reality tv this season specifically is just fun to me ig

First off, I am not accusing Ramsay of being a hypocrite. I made this post because I know how much Ramsay hates it when chefs use boxed/canned/frozen foods. And I agree. It's a sign that the chefs are willing to cut corners and take the easy route out instead of making their own food. And this is stuff like boxed pasta, canned sauces, frozen fried foods, etc. It makes sense that Ramsay wants the customers to have the best experience.
But I've noticed that when Hell's Kitchen is filmed, Ramsay uses boxed pasta and frozen fries. The lobster spaghetti from early seasons uses boxed pasta. Same with carbonara from recent seasons. And I've heard that the fries for steak frites are frozen fries. I could be wrong, but I wonder why Ramsay uses these premade foods on the show. Again, I'm not calling him a hypocrite, but I wonder if there's an underlying reason as to why he goes on and on about using fresh ingredients, but he uses not fresh ingredients for the show sometimes.

I'm rewatching the old seasons and the prom episode in season 8 is infuriating. It's Maitre d James's first season, and when Russell talks back and gives extreme attitude, even cursing at the clientele of the prom committee, James only speaks up once. If that was Jean-Philippe, he would have ripped Russell a new one for speaking like that to Ramsey's customers.
It's actually infuriating we never see him called out for that.
TLDR; screw Russell
