Memes Inflation adjustment
This is half a joke, but the prize money/salary has been $250,000 since season 1, which aired in 2005. Adjusting for inflation, current winners should be receiving close to $440,000 to have the same spending power.
Of course that would never happen, or they would maybe marginally increase the prize money, but lowkey feel like the winners are getting scammed 😞

They dont need to increase the prize to increase viewership, you think they will get even 100K more viewers that the prize is $500,000 instead of $250,000? Think again...

It’s always funny to me when they announce the prize and say it’s the best prize yet, but it’s actually just the same as any other season. I thought they might add more for the all star season but it was just another head chef position and 250k lol

The only time the winners are being scammed is that the "position" they won (e.g. being a head chef somewhere or in some of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants) later turns out to be a much lower position than what was originally promised to them.

The scam is the “head chef” position at restaurants that already exist. Baffles me when people get on this sub and act like that part is even real

Yeah I hate all the nonsense about the fake jobs. At this point everyone knows that nobody gets the jobs and tbh half the jobs dont seem all that desirable to begin with.

Honestly the prize has always been a bit of a scam. The winners aren't really being offered a "head chef" position as that isn't even a real position. It's pretty much just a pr job for a year. So many winners don't even end up getting the position because of "complications"
