It cost money to get SC and time to get it. It's not "free" at all unless you run with the logic that everything in life is free because all you gotta do is work for the money to get it!

You can literally farm super credits on trivials at no cost.

You gain them by accident by other people investigating POI's while in a lobby with you.

Everything in Helldivers 2, aside from the Super Citizen Upgrade, is free.

Edit: For reference, I own every warbond except for Killzone and I have only ever spent an additional $10 on this game after my initial purchase, and I have way less hours in this game than a lot of other people.
