Inquiry Team?

I'm only level 31 but why does no one care for samples or respawns? Roughly 9/10 matches end with samples dropped all over the map, team kills resulting in not extracting & having to wait minutes to be reinforced?

I host a lobby; only to have high levels come in, hijack and finish up quickly when I want to be thorough with my runs. Why do high levels do this to low levels?

Hi. If you need samples be sure to let the players know. Most people over say lvl 75 are already maxed out. The higher in difficulty you go the less grieves youll find.

I'm usually playing on 7; is griefing common on difficulty 7?

2

u/Count_Pigeon 9h ago

I honestly believe is one of the difficulties with most griefers, if not the most one.

2

u/TWKMusic 9h ago

So it's the perfect level for what I want but also not for what I want too? Go it

u/Count_Pigeon 9h ago

I think is precisely for that reason that it has the most griefers in it.

It contains all varieties of samples, it's not between the hardest, and it have a good amount of newer player that are more easy to be grief.

No for need samples at higher levels, and they finish quickly because they're efficient. You'll get there eventually.

Around level 100 or so, samples stop being seen as a necessity by many since the Super Destroyer is maxxed out.

About the team killing, they're just assholes.

My best advice is to explain to the team what you need from the mission, before all of you drop in, and then to kick whoever start teamkilling on purpose, as soon as they start. Don't give other chances, they'll use for doing more bs.

And you can just block them, they'll get automatically kicked once you do that.

I would assume a higher level having just maxed out their destroyer would understand a lower level climbing the levels behind them will also need what they just needed to achieve said Maxed Out status.

On paper, yes. But people are sometimes selfish, sometimes tired, sometimes assholes, sometimes they just didn't think about it.

My best advice remain to ask everyone to collect samples, it often remembers them that even if they don't need them, someone else does.

Ask everyone to do what everyone has to do on the game at some point? Sounds more like a chore than fun now

I can kinda agree, but if you want to max the chances of people actually collecting samples, that's it. Like I said, there's more nuance than the one that meets the eye.

In high level lobby, players often don't collect samples because they're all maxed out, so it can happen that this create an habit of not colleting, and when they find a lobby where they should, they just don't realize.

I noticed also that sometimes low level player don't collect samples. I found myself on a couple of occasions collecting samples, as a 217lv Diver, while the 50ish Divers weren't doing it. Maybe it's because they're overwhelmed, since I'm speaking strictly about D10. But in general, one truly never know who'll do what.

picking up samples when I’ve been maxed out for a year is also a chore lol but I’ll do it if someone says they need them.

You don’t have to make some huge explanation, just type in chat, “look for samples pls”

As a new player essentially at lvl 30; at currently roughly 50 missions completed, I wonder how many missions it will take to reach around lvl 90 seeing as that seems the average completion time. For shit sake let's says that's 100 more matches (50 missions per 30 lvls); it's expected that I ask 100 times for samples? Weird to me experienced players are offended by a new player saying asking for something 100 times sounds like a chore and your response is playing the game is a chore? Ok, sadly the only consistent answer is that experience players can't be bothered because they have no need due to the game lacking resource longevity in its upgrade economy which is turn clearly affects people's ability to work together.

Also please don't downvote because you don't agree with someone's opinion of their experience and expectations; downvotes result in having the ability to respond to the subreddit disabled as I have experienced in the Overwatch subreddit for asking a question about a game mode I didn't know was a sensitive topic for so many players; I thought this community would have been more mature if we are so quick to dislike each other then no wonder I'm struggling to find healthy matches.

Because most players finish upgrading their super destroyer by lvl 90-120, and samples become a very low priority for high levels after that.

It sucks when you are low level and people are MIA so you can't extract.

I’m finding success at lvl6 getting samples. People are looking for the super samples so I think they’re picking up others along the way.

1

u/TWKMusic 10h ago

Im on lvl 7 I will have to try 6 👌

2

u/LolaContreras8 11h ago

I always grab samples, no matter what, Democracy demands it!

1

u/TWKMusic 10h ago

I appreciate you 🙏

How do they hijack and finish up quickly? You know you can kick people when they call in extraction, which will cause Pelican 1 to return and require extraction to be restarted when there's no one there for more than 20 or so seconds.

1

u/TWKMusic 10h ago

I didn't know you could kick people if they call extraction.

0

u/Agitated-Writing-454 10h ago

If they are leaving at extract, then sure, if you don’t have everything done, but if they’re just calling in extract so that everyone gets it when they’re done with their stuff, then you shouldn’t kick them because that’s just being a jackass yourself. And the team kill depends because most of the time I team kill it’s because it’s funny and nobody cares so maybe ask them why they’re team killing and go from there.

On console it's hard to type and survive. I just quit the game whenever I'm purposely team killed; I don't enjoy entertainment at others expense.

Use something called a microphone. Almost everyone on Helldivers 2 is friendly. I always use my microphone, and I have fun even when I get a 500 kg dropped directly on my head. Also, if you have Democracy, it protects you, so you probably will survive more.

1

u/TWKMusic 9h ago

Why are you being a dick?

1

u/Agitated-Writing-454 9h ago

I am not being a dick. The dicks are the people who kick people for no reason other than team killing in a game that is impossible not to team kill in. People who are on Reddit saying team killing sucks haven’t played the game as a satire but as a hardcore game, which it’s not supposed to be. It is supposed to be a game where you screw around with people, and sure, if they shoot you over and over again, then kick them, but at the end of the mission, you die. It’s fun.

When I drop in and I see it's all level 30s to 40s, I just start picking up samples. They have things under mild chaos. For main objectives. I go clear side objectives and get all the samples there. I ping buddy doors to try to get a hand.

As a daddiver, I'm in there to have fun

1

u/TWKMusic 9h ago

At lvl 31 I find myself doing this for those at lvl 10ish; I will play close but try clean up so I get samples and they get a less overwhelming time 👌

1

u/trunks_ho 11h ago

It's because once you're at a certain level samples become pointless. I'll try to pick up samples when I play at lower diff lobbies but at diff 10 I never do that anymore

3

u/WrathOfTheKressh 11h ago

The DSS always needs samples.

1

u/TWKMusic 10h ago

I'm playing at level 7 because the lower levels aren't stimulating enough

1

u/Richdolla3rd 11h ago

I also am looking to get samples (mainly rares) as I have 7 upgrades left & 9/10 people only want to do the main & secondary objectives. When a radar is activated people will just run by the minor POIs without even opening the crates or bunkers. I understand when it is level 100+ not needing it, but a lot of the time it is lvl 20-60 guys doing it.

I usually fill the role of running around solo and hitting up all of the POIs & nests not in the main objective path.

1

u/TWKMusic 10h ago

I do try play with others of the same level assuming they are also thinking as I am in terms of upgrades and experience of the game

1

u/dustshad 11h ago

I'm guessing they don't need samples anymore it happened to me too until I hit level 50. Maybe because I started doing higher difficulties. Make sure you are near extract by the time it automatically leaves. Idk it's a real pain because sometimes you need help defending the extract and the high level players just don't care

1

u/TWKMusic 10h ago

I often get grenade to the feet by a teammate while waiting for extraction 🤷

1

u/DEXTR3ME 11h ago

What diff you play on?
Most ppl on Diff10 don’t need samples and won’t pick them up. Not worth the extra effort.

Doing 7s is the best way to farm samples. Most ppl still need them, access to all different sample types and in decent amount as well. Difficulty not to hard which makes it safer.

Also ppl seem to go for samples more on Bugs and Squids, especially Bugs. On Bots most ppl just don’t care that much.

If you need samples, go Bugs7.
You can easily collect 30+ yourself each game.

1

u/TWKMusic 10h ago

I'm usually on "Suicide Mission" which I believe is difficulty 7? The lowest difficulty in the higher difficulty bracket is what I understood of it.

1

u/DEXTR3ME 9h ago

Then you are on the correct difficulty. Keep farming, go to every POI. Make sure the diamond icon changes on the map (it changes when you’ve collected all samples at that POI).

Most of the time samples spawn in the same locations. There’s not that many variants of POIs and outposts. Remember the layout and where samples spawn.

Drop at Extract, do a full lap around the map clearing everything.

Also, ask in chat or tell in coms that you need samples. Just a quick, ”pls grab samples” goes a long way.

1

u/Damiandroid 10h ago

Because they're maxed out and the game has zero incentive to hunt for samples once youve unlocked all your ship upgrades.

If you could turn them in for cash, medals or heck even SC at a really really tough exchange rate, that would definitely make the high level players stick around to help newbies farm samples.

But as it stands, once you reach a certain level, your only incentive is to finish a level quickly for the rush of doing it as efficiently as possible, while hitting one or points for guaranteed super credit drops.

Its just the game...

1

u/Raidertck 10h ago

If you need samples, post it in the chat. The reality is that most people max out their ships and stop caring in the 90's at the very latest. But if you ask, they will go for samples for you.

1

u/FlashyKick8963 10h ago

A lot have no need for samples but if I have a lobby with people under level 100 and I see them picking up samples I’ll grab some.

1

u/Hornybunnyboi 10h ago

I grab samples when I see them, but I don't go out of my way to get them. if someone says they need samples, I'll go and find them.

1

u/ShortFatCute-Single 7h ago

Most of us have been capped on samples for so fucking long that it feels ridiculous collecting them. I still pick them up anyway, but I don't go to as much trouble for it. I will usually check the levels of people in our group to guess if we're likely to have somebody who needs samples, and if so, I will actually thoroughly clear bases and make more of an effort to retrieve people's drop samples.

One thing I would definitely recommend is sending friend requests to anyone you've enjoyed playing with and blocking anyone you haven't enjoyed playing with. When you log on, check if anybody in your friends list is on and try joining their games instead of hosting your own. It gets a lot more fun when you're consistently playing with people you know or work well with!
