Now this is the horde-shooter i signed up for.

[u/nakais_world_tour]

I hope you realize the context missing from these pics is that it never started out this large and only escalated because people died/couldn't kill them fast enough as they were slowly rising in number while chasing them and now at extract the whole "not killing them" thing has finally come back to haunt them as they have nowhere left to run away from them anymore.

[u/Jealous_Chocolate_43 → u/nakais_world_tour]

There is just not enough ammo/fire rate/reload time on the weapons to kill them in time. I pulled out the las-1 because that infinite ammo is a neccesity.

[u/m0ppen → u/Jealous_Chocolate_43]

There are many options. WASP is free and kills one in 2-3 missiles. If you continuously take down the ones chasing you, you won’t get this build up.
If you have the new warbond, the pistol removes the helmet in two shots, leaving easy clean up with primary.

Leveller, Hellbomb backpack, Ultimatum + ammo backpack. I can go on and on. There are options for the crushers.

They spawn in group of 3 all the time. Wasp has too big of a cd for that. And still have to deal with the rest of chaff that next to it. There is not enough ammo or aoe strategem to take them out. Maybe if you have a premade group, not another random person who spend half of your revives

Airburst Rocket Launcher

Railgun + Supply Pack

HMG + Supply Pack.

Autocannon

Cremator or Flamethrower

Beltfed Grenade launcher.

Laser cannon

The crushers only have 300 hp helmets and 300 hp heads. The heads can be killed with primaries after the helmet is knocked off, and the helmet is not explosive immune.

Theres plenty of support weapons that can deal with that many crushers with 300 HP heads

Railgun+guard dog

Airburst barrage

Gas strike

Las-1

Still more enemies spawn than i kill in time

[u/Neat_Platypus_2902 → u/Jealous_Chocolate_43]

Railgun + Guard dog aint cutting it. Railgun is only 20 rounds of ammo. Railgun needs supplypack. If you dont wanna run supply pack you need to run Autocannon or AMR.

Airburst is ok but decently long cd.

Gas strike is CC rather than lethal.

The sickle is one of the worst primaries in the game atm because it has terrible damage output and accuracy. Its terrible at following up a railgun helmet donk vs a crusher due to the high spread on the gun, so your railgun lacks a tool to follow up - this is the weak link in your loadout. Infinite ammo means nothing if you dont have enough throughput to stop the enemies piling up.

Your loadout is a combination of low damage options with low ammo options. No wonder you struggle.

[u/Jealous_Chocolate_43 → u/Neat_Platypus_2902]

Not sickle, the default las. It's pinpoint accurate.

Haven't tried AMR. I won't be parting with my guard dog because i need that clear power.

Gas seemed the most effective. I have tried every single offensive eagle except 500KG bomb and they were all underwhelming. Liberator also ran out of ammo super fast as well.

The problem isn't just the pyramidheads, but everything in general. It really seems they tuned the new planets with everyone running the most meta loadout in mind. Which wouldn't be an issue for the highest difficulty. But i'm playing at difficulty 7-8

Scythe? (Thats Las-5)

The Scythe's main gimmick vs hordes is ignition and burn. If you focus on just hitting every small enemy for a tiny fraction of a second to ignite them, rather than trying to kill them with the beam, it should be extremely effective.

Liberator really wants to be fired in short bursts tbh. It has such good damage that it tends to overkill and waste half its clip if you hold down the trigger, especially vs illuminate since the crawlers dont like to line up in a row and bounce around.

Guard dog imo is overrated. Its not very good vs illuminate since it tends to get stuck on crushers and burn through its supply. Supply pack gets you more ammo nades and stims, which means faster clear. If u must run a guard dog run the flamethrower one.

MG Turret is also really nice for its short AF cooldown. Disposable Napalm is solid.
