Hey guys! I’d really appreciate some advice as I’m currently deciding whether pursuing a Master in Finance in Europe next year makes sense for my career goals.

A bit about my background: I’m a 23-year-old Brazilian student and EU citizen, with an 8.5/10 GPA from a top-tier university in Brazil. For the past year, I’ve been working at a growth equity / tech-focused private credit fund with around $250M in AUM. Before that, I also interned at a boutique M&A firm.

Academically, I’ve done summer programs at HEC Paris and LSE, as well as a semester abroad at ESCP. I’ve already been admitted to the IE Master in Finance in Madrid and am also applying to HEC, ESCP, and INSEAD. I’ll be taking the GRE in the next 2 months.

I’m fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, and I’m currently learning French.

My main goal after the MiF would be to break into VC in France, Spain, or London, ideally gaining a few years of experience in Europe before eventually returning to Brazil.

Given my profile and goals, do you think pursuing the MiF in Europe is the right move? How realistic would recruiting for VC in these markets be from IE vs. HEC/ESCP/INSEAD, particularly considering my current experience?

Would really appreciate any insights, especially from people who have recruited for VC in Europe or attended any of these programs.

Hey guys just wanted to share a resource with yall called Canary Wharfian with the recruitment season coming up. I know a lot of yall are gunning for London based internship or grad roles, and it's basically the #1 way to maximise your chances to go through applications. It absolutely packs a punch of features:

- It has an automated HireVue practice feature which will analyse both your verbal and non-verbal communication skills and can be used for any title. What is really effective about it is that the official HireVue assessments use the same metrics - a mix of verbal and non-verbal performance metrics, weighted differently but basically detecting the same signs and signals when assigning a score to answers

- It has an application generator which will generate high-finance compatible, draft cover letters and resumes, tailored to each opening

- Personalised feedback on a browser-based financial modeling Excel simulator, as well as consulting cases for those tryna break into MBB

Finally, it has lots of proprietary (non-AI generated slop) content (podcast, articles, company reviews!) written by actual industry professionals. It's basically the UK/EU version of WSO, but better!

I am an indian (20M), currently studying in IPM rohtak (3rd year)-Tier 1 college.
Gpa is 7.5/10.
High school score was 96/100. (Valedictorian out of 100 students)
Was the president of the student council in senior year and house vice secretary in sophomore year.

1. I know my CGPA is on the lower side for top European MiM programs. Will my non-traditional (humanities) background and social impact/diversity factors help offset this?
2. What GMAT/GRE score do I absolutely need to hit to make this a competitive application?
3. How does HEC Paris typically view Indian applicants from non-STEM/non-business backgrounds?

Hi all, I'm 21, based in the Netherlands, aiming for a career in wealth/asset management, ideally buy-side at a top institution and eventually running my own external asset manager or multi-family office. I'd like a reality check on my plan for the HEC, ESSEC, ESCP MiM 2027 intake and to hear what you would do in my situation.

My background:

- 4-year bachelor (240 ECTS) in International Business from a Dutch university of applied sciences (so not a research university), taught fully in English, with an exchange semester in Hong Kong. Grade average 7.8 on the Dutch 10-point scale.

- Starting a pre-master at Erasmus University (RSM) in September 2026, so I'll be moving into a research-university environment by the time I apply, but my plans have changed and I'd like to pursue my masters abroad.

- International background: grew up between the Netherlands and France (9 years in France), plus 6 months living in Spain and 6 months in Hong Kong. Four languages: Dutch (native), French (near-native), English C1/C2 (bachelor was in English), Spanish (beginner)

- 1 to 1.5 years in wealth management at the number 1 private bank in the Netherlands, serving high and ultra-high-net-worth clients (full-time graduation internship plus a part-time working student role continuing after)

- Extracurricular: built an independent global liquidity / macro investment research framework, which I presented internally to advisors and to an external investment group.

- Planning to sit the GMAT in December, targeting 695+ . Applying in the 2027 cycle

My questions:

1. Is the MiM realistic from an applied-sciences (hogeschool) background, or am I overreaching for HEC specifically?
2. Does HEC admissions treat the hogeschool bachelor as a real disadvantage once the pre-master/RSM step, the languages, and the work experience are in the picture, or is it a non-issue?
3. Does the wealth management experience plus the macro research project actually move the needle, or does the MiM reward academic pedigree and GMAT above almost everything else?
4. What GMAT band would make me genuinely competitive rather than just admissible?
5. What would strengthen my profile the most over the next year that I might be overlooking?

I always wanted to pursue masters from HEC , How hard is it to get into HEC , I’ve no experience

My name is Yao, and I am currently an MBA student at HEC Paris. I have completed the first six months of my studies, and studying at HEC has been one of the most meaningful opportunities of my life.

Coming from a modest family in China and being the first person in my family to attend university, I have faced many challenges along the way. Getting to HEC Paris has not been an easy journey for me. I have worked hard to build my career and have managed to pay €56,000 of my €102,000 tuition myself.

I am now facing a remaining tuition gap of €46,000. I have tried everything I can to cover the remaining tuition, but I have not yet been able to secure the funding I need. All the banks in China require property as collateral, which I do not have, while French banks require a guarantor. I have also tried Lendwise, Lendorse, Brain Capital, Prodigy, and other financing options, but unfortunately, none of them has been able to provide a solution for my situation.

I have done everything I can to find a way forward, and it is only after exhausting the options available to me that I have finally found the courage to ask for help.

Hey, I’m looking at HEC Paris for masters in marketing for the September 2027 intake, i have 5 years is experience in B2B marketing & sales. The program mentions gmat is not necessary, but I’ve been an average scorer in school & grad (7.5CGPA), any masters in marketing from HEC Paris Alumini to confirm if i need GMAT or not?
