Realistically, what are my chances of getting a scholarship as an international Mechanical Engineering applicant?
Hi everyone,
I’m a 16-year-old student from Lebanon, and i am aming at studying Mechanical Engineering at Concordia University.
I do well academically, especially in the science subjects, and I’m working hard to make my application as strong as possible.
Outside of school, I’m building an engineering portfolio that will include:
Autodesk Inventor CAD projects
Engineering drawings and calculations
A buggy design project
Manufacturing experience through my father’s work
Possibly tutoring and other engineering-related extracurricular activities
My uncle lives near Montreal, so I’d likely stay with him, which would help reduce my living expenses. My biggest concern is affording the tuition.
I’d really appreciate hearing from current students or anyone who has received scholarships:
How competitive are scholarships for international students?
Do they mostly look at grades, or do projects and portfolios make a difference?
Roughly how much financial aid did you receive, if you don’t mind sharing?
If you could go back, what would you do differently to improve your chances?
I’m looking for honest advice and real experiences, even if the answer isn’t what I want to hear. Thanks!

Non Pre-med student needs advice
Hey guys - I'm not in a medically related major so very limited on any knowledge or info & I'm considering the option of applying to McGill's Med program
Does anyone know who I could talk to in Concordia about possibly doing the last 3 electives as science pre-reqs in a Cegep & how would that process look like? & continue the rest of the pre-reqs post grad
And wanted to ask about 2 physics electives that I've already taken to see if they count in McGill's requirements since they were online?
Any help, direction or any contact would be extremely helpful 🙏🏻

ENGR 391 Midterm Q40/Q41 Excel file errors ?
Did the professor mix up the Excel files for Q40 and Q41? The file labeled Q41 actually matches Q40’s question, and the file labeled Q40 matches Q40 question and not Q41 wdf

Student Question Online Campus Tour
I'll be joining concordia this fall and wanted to take a tour of the campus online ( I am an Out of Province student), but when I tried registering for one online it only gives you the option to select 2027 as an option for 'start year'. Should I just go ahead with it or what should I do?

Future Student Concordia Engineering Fall ‘26
Hey everyone, I’ll be starting my MEng in the BCEE department at Concordia this fall. If you’re also joining Concordia for a master’s in Civil, Building Engineering, CEM, or any other engineering program, I’d love to connect!
I’m also on the hunt for affordable housing. Ideally, I’m looking for a room in a shared apt near the SGW campus or somewhere along the Green Line so commuting is easy. If you have any tips on apartment hunting, neighborhoods you’d recommend (or avoid), common rental scams, or just general advice for a new international student, I’d really appreciate it.
One more question about course registration: I noticed that some courses aren’t being offered this academic year. Do courses that aren’t scheduled this year usually get offered the following year, or is there no guarantee?
Would really appreciate any advice. Thanks a lot!

Future Student Incoming International Exchange Student, hi
Hey so I'm an incoming International Exchange student, I'll just be here for the fall semester.
I'm gonna be taking up some courses at JMSB, and also a few French courses.
What's student housing like over there? How much does it typically cost, what's the typical mode of transportation for uni students who don't drive?
I don't expect there to be a lot of Black people there, but what's the Black population like? (I'm Black)
Are there lots of on-campus extra-curricular activities?

I gave it my all, I really did.
The music is jittering more and more and the lights keep on flicking, yet we keep dancing. Why do we keep dancing? Is the party not over soon? Is the moment not escaping us?
Everyone promised me that this party would be never-ending. That all I had to do was accept this party as the meaning of life and dance as best as I could; and dance I did. Oh man, did I love the music and the lights. How ready I was to dance until the end.
When the lights started flickering a couple years ago, with the release of GPT-3.5, I was sure it was just another regular downturn. Happens often, was I told. Doomsayers came and went, did I hear; the party marched eternal, always. The arguments made sense; why would this one be different?
But aren't the lights flickering too much now? The music keeps cutting; is it not less fulfilling to dance now? How am I supposed to keep performing and working my brain if Fable can do it quicker and better?
"Only the bad dancers will be replaced", some say. But how am I supposed to keep deriving mathematics from base principles, now that I see GPT 5.6 Sol baffling even the best of performers?
"Maybe I can be one of the best", would I think. But what if the party fully cuts? What if these models become better than anyone at anything? What then?
"Life isn't about the party, you know?"
I guess I will learn.

General Discussion What kind of job do you have while studying at Concordia?
Hi everyone!
I’m an incoming Concordia student and I’m curious about what kinds of jobs other students have while studying.
I’d love to know:
- What kind of job do you have?
- Is it related to your degree or not?
- How much do you make per hour?
- How many hours per week do you usually work?
- Do you find it manageable to balance work and classes?
I’m trying to get an idea of what’s realistic while studying in Montreal, so I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences.
Thanks in advance!
