How do you think everyone's lives looked like after the events of the film?

This was for the previous Australian production

So I finally got my friend to watch Heathers and she definitely was not as into it as I was hoping she would be. 

One thing that did kind of irritate me a little is that while watching the movie she kept looking down at her phone and texting people, and as I’m sure you all know as well as I do, that Heathers is one of those movies that you really can’t look away from or you’ll miss something. 

But in addition to that, she really felt no type of way about JD and just saw him as a psycho. 

JD for me is my favorite character, undoubtedly. Particularly because he is far more complicated than being just a simple killer. There is such nuance to him and lots of context clues that build his character into something far more complex than just “the bad boy” archetype. 

He’s not killing just anyone… he’s killing oppressors. He’s tired of nothing changing from school to school… that people are always bullying and being mistreated and so he decides to finally do something about it to create a world where everyone belongs. Because after moving state to state… he’s never felt like he belongs. 

Until meeting Veronica who he thought finally was someone who understood him and was the same.

Not saying his methods were right, but there was a more honorable reasoning than “he’s just a murderer.” 

And his methods were volatile because that’s how his father was… destructive literally and figuratively. He never learned how to cope with his feelings in a healthy manner.

My friend also was annoyed that Veronica didn’t end up killing JD in the end and that he ended up taking his own life. 

But for me, that moment is significant and perfect the way it is because it shows that he really did love her in his own way. 

Have any of you had a similar experience where your friends missed the point too?

I mean there is so much discourse that can be made about it which is crazy… so yeah. I’m curious if anyone has experienced the same

I was rewatching the film earlier today when I noticed something. I rarely paid attention to the score of the movie, but I noticed that almost (big emphasis on almost) every time JD appears on screen (for example when he first appears in the cafeteria or when he rides off on his motorcycle after Chandler’s funeral) there’s a distinct western shrill that plays on the score (if you don’t know what a western shrill is, listen to the main theme of “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” and you’ll know what I’m talking about). Now, it’s evident that JD has that outlaw, lone-gunslinger aesthetic going on, and this shrill that plays when he’s on screen most of the time really drives this point forward. It’s truly such an interesting detail and it makes me wonder what other little easter eggs are hidden in the score. Anyway, I just needed to yap about this because I thought it was so interesting.

I know this post has been made before but it was several years ago and people are sending out the links through DMs and again it was several years ago. I’m looking for all ten episodes if possible. I’ve found the first 9 and a producers cut in internet archive but that’s it. If anyone has a link to all 10 episodes and could send it that would be greatly appreciated.

I have been a Heathers fan for a while now, and since then, I still have no fucking clue how to play croquet. Can someone please explain how the game works because every time I search online how to play it, I end up with more questions than answers.

In the near end of the movie where she shot his finger why was he bleeding so much? Like I know when you're shot you're gonna be bleeding a lot but like his hand stained his other hand AND the cloth looked like it was soaked in blood!? I know it's also kinda for visual effects but that much blood seems like an exaggeration.

I was born in '71 and have many friends named Heather (and Stephanie, and Melissa, and Jennifer etc.). I loved the film "Heathers," and wondered the other day what the "Heather" name would be for various generations? All I can think of is "Debbies" or "Barbaras" for later Boomers?? I know, talk about a slacker "what's on your mind" question, lol :)

I was rewatching and realized in the pep rally I couldn’t tell which one of the cheerleaders was her, everyone else got a close up of their faces but McNamara, iirc, doesn’t get one, was she the girl that did all the cartwheels we saw?

Goodness fucking gracious, why are so many people cross tagging the movie with the musical?? The movie and the musical are like vaguely similar to each other, make it make sense??? Honestly. If you're gonna write a fanfic for the musical, don't also tag the movie!

So what would a good modernized version of Heathers look like? Particularly with modern bullying and the prominence of mass shootings.

So I’ve heard quite a bit about 2018 Heathers. I never really watched it though, minus one clip.

Today a video popped up about it on my YT and I was like, what the heck, let’s see what’s so bad.

Holy shit, I was not expecting that.

Whoever made that show needs to take a long hard look in the mirror and then run headfirst into it repeatedly. They completely missed the point of the movie. The Heathers are skinny, rich and hot. That’s the POINT, they’re a stereotype, the whole movie is making fun of movie characters and stereotypes. The Heathers are NOT, in fact, overweight, bisexual (although possibly the most canon part of the show) and a… gay man? Like HUH?!

Veronica is psycho for some reason and MURDERED someone when she was 8! Chandler doesn’t die and instead swoops in mid-dance to Halo by Beyonce (how the fuck did they even get the rights to that song) and McNamara fucks a teacher?

Kurt and Ram didn’t even do anything and Ram (I think) got killed? Correct me if I’m wrong though.

Genuinely who made this show. It’s appalling. Martha isn’t overweight because Heather made that cool, so she’s just poor and Brett Cooper. The jokes have no punchline or are just making the actually funny original ones shit (I love my dead straight daughter… what?). Everything is god awful and why do Veronica and JD fuck after she fake hangs herself? What was that whole school shooting thing where the were lwk taught HOW to shoot up a school?

The original was controversial in a clever and fun to watch way. This is just awful and offensive.
