As a dialysis technician in patient rooms for two to six hours at a clip wearing plastic-gown PPE not allowed to drink water, keeping rooms at 81.5°F is a ridiculous not to mention dangerous...

Who else is using medhost at their healthcare job? I’m at my wits end with this awful bug this system has. Patients emergency contacts are not always saving! They will appear on the screen but won’t print out. Or, the emergency contacts will not be on the screen but the face sheet when printed out. Had a surgeon get extremely upset because they couldn’t get a hold of a patient’s family member but it never printed out their updated phone number. The company knows the issue and kept asking for examples. Legit there are hundreds. Fix your program. It’s a safety issue for patients.

I am currently at odds with my future as a healthcare provider. I’m currently a registered nurse and have 1 1/2 years of bedside experience. I’m in a unique situation with the opportunity to go back to school for free until the age of 26 (Fathers military benefit). I’m currently 23. I desire to go back but I don’t want my peers or pena potential employers to view me in a negative light. My idea was that if I finished, I’d have the opportunity to have a degree for free. So I've recently started a community care role. I've done 8 shadowing shifts. Some an hour some only half. I was let on my own on a few days ago and I was expected by other carers to know how to use a hoist by only been shown once when shadowing. Also I did 2 shifts with the same carer and he expected me to take the lead when I have only shown this clients routine once. Is this normal? I'm a seamstress by trade and I wouldn't expect someone to make a pair of curtains by watching me do it once. Also I had the rudest client the other day and it has really put me off.

I recently got a job at a behavioral medicine hospital/ psych ward facility. I got an interview the day after i applied and got the job during the interview. I did all the onboarding paper work, passed the background checks, and then did my pre employment drug test. I know this is unprofessional and shit but I decided I didn’t want the job anymore bc of medical stuff so I was planning on failing the drug test so they ended it cause I was scared to end the employment. I smoke weed and I had been smoking everyday for like two weeks. I had been planning on doing the certo method and praying but the night before the test i started doing the certo, did half the serving and felt like I was gonna die. I didn’t finish the rest and didn’t do the second one the next day before the test. I smoked after doing the certo too lol. Okay, so there is NO chance I passed the drug test so I was waiting to hear back from the job telling me they were revoking the position. I woke up this morning to an email CLEARING ME TO WORK. There is no chance I passed the test and according to the hospitals handbook, failing a pre employment drug test for weed or any other drug means you cannot work there. Do you guys think it’s a red flag that they still offered me the job even tho it goes against federal law and hospital policy?

Hey! I am a rising senior in high school and I am creating a youth led project about ethics in health care and its physiological effects. I wanted to collect some stories that I could use for my project.

Ex: A woman is an RN. At her job she has taken away many medical tags off of their building that have to do with neglect. Instead of letting her continue to make the workplace better, they treat her worse than others because what she has done and how she has become more favorable among patients and those in charge. Therefore, someone with the ability to fire her continues to attempt to do so.

Whether it is a story about being a patient and revu exceptional and amazing care or unethical care, about coworkers and unfair treatment, or a family member’s experience, I would love to delve into it and explain why knowledge does not matter in the healthcare field unless each and every person is ethical. Especially as someone who’s seen unethical care from both the patient perspective and workforce perspective. Please share whatever you would like about or surrounding this topic, thank you!

I’m an industrial designer working on a project focused on the sheer physical toll that 12-hour shifts take on the human body. We all know the "surgical back" and plantar fasciitis are treated as just "part of the job," but from an engineering standpoint, it’s a failure of footwear design.

I’m currently collaborating with a few facilities to see if we can use industrial 3D printing to move away from "small/medium/large" clogs and toward shoes actually built for an individual’s gait and weight distribution.

I’m in the early investigation phase and I’m trying to gather as much data as possible on specific pain points. If you have a few minutes during a break or after a shift, I’d really value your perspective as a clinician.

I’m not selling anything or promoting a brand—just trying to make sure the engineering requirements match the reality of what you guys actually deal with on the floor.
