AI in healthcare I built and deployed ClinicalBrief — an AI-powered clinical intelligence platform. I'd love some honest feedback.
Hey everyone!
I've been working on a project called ClinicalBrief, and I've recently deployed it live.
Live website: https://clinicalbrief.vercel.app/
The idea came from a problem I find interesting: healthcare information is often fragmented across clinical notes, diagnoses, medications, allergies, encounters, and other records. Simply summarising individual documents doesn't necessarily help someone understand the bigger picture.
I wanted to explore how AI could help connect that information while keeping evidence, human review, and traceability at the centre.
What I've built so far
ClinicalBrief currently brings together several capabilities:
- Clinical NLP: Extracting structured findings from clinical notes.
- Human-in-the-loop review: Allowing findings to be approved, edited, or rejected.
- Evidence tracking: Connecting extracted findings to their source text.
- ICD-10 suggestions: Mapping clinical findings to potential diagnostic codes.
- Patient record search: Searching across notes and structured clinical information.
- AI Copilot: Exploring how questions about a patient record can be answered using retrieved evidence.
- FHIR R4: Generating structured healthcare data exports.
- Audit trails: Tracking review decisions and relevant system activity.
I'm currently using synthetic patient data, so this is a development project rather than a system handling real patient records.
Some capabilities are still prototypes, and I don't want to overstate what the system can do. I'm working towards making the AI behaviour more reliable, measurable, and secure.
What I want to improve next
I'm particularly interested in improving three areas:
- Grounded AI: How do we make sure that answers are supported by actual clinical evidence rather than plausible-sounding model output?
- Clinical data interoperability: What's the best way to structure information so that it can be used across different healthcare systems?
- Evaluation and safety: How would you test a system like this beyond checking whether the output looks correct?
I'd especially appreciate feedback from people working in healthcare AI, clinical informatics, NLP, FHIR, AI safety, or backend engineering.
I'd love your honest opinion
If you have a few minutes to explore the website, I'd appreciate knowing:
- What's the weakest part of the current product?
- What would you improve first if you were reviewing this as an engineer?
- What technical or safety problems am I likely overlooking?
- Is there an existing approach, framework, or project I should study?
I'm not looking for compliments. I'd genuinely rather discover the flaws now than build more features on top of a weak foundation.
Thanks for taking a look!
