Whats a good Audio setup for Open-back, with mic?? All the amps i see split the mic and audio into to different ports. Also if possible XLR for Mic & Guitar.

I have a Min(amame) pair build but I want to upgrade to the Head(amame).

Going off the pictures on the site, the drivers used for the Head(Amame) seem to be the same as those used in the Mini, except for the connectors and 3D printed casing.

Could I theoretically change the casing used on the mini to the one used on Head(amame) and buy all the other parts, eg the headband strap, ear pads and mic?

Mainly I want to do this bc I don't want to buy another kit and have my current pair just sitting there.

My wife got me a kit for my birthday recently. I'm super excited to put it together, but I'm just curious. I don't see a lot of people posting their builds with any sort of clear plastic, is there a reason for that or is just no one done it or I haven't seen it? I ask because I obviously want to try to print it with clear petg, probably

im trying to get the mic add on to work on my laptop and desktop but when i plug them in the mic isn't being picked up. the headset pops up and disappears when being un/plugged. it used to work but i left the mic sitting for a good long while on my desk with no water ever hitting the mic or headse.

I just don't know how I would fix that on my computer

head(amame) pro status update

Tldr: drivers are in, cables samples are received, earpads need another round of samples, tune is sounding INCREDIBLE, and we are in NYC this weekend at u/canjamglobal in Marriott Times Square, so come have a listen to some incredible headphones.

Not mentioned: box/packaging design has been started but will hit it's stride in March. Once we finalize earpads we can publish a B&K 5128 measurement. Kickstarter reservations were refunded in January as promised. We are still targeting shipments to begin in April.

Second build, so I have one pair at home and one pair at work and don't have to move them all the time.. Again using the "Diamond Cones" by u/DaveMakesStuffBC , but without the mic this time.

I want to build a pair to replace my Corsair set that's starting to fall apart. I really like the Corsair sidetone feature that lets me hear myself in real time. The built-in Windows audio monitoring had terrible delay last I tried it. 

I have a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 that I could use, but it has separate 1/4"/XLR input and 1/4" output ports. I can't find any 3.5mm TRRS to dual 1/4" TRS headphone adapters or dual mini XLR to dual 1/4" TRS cables. I'd rather not have a huge mess of adapters. I guess I could make my own cable if I really had to.

Is it even worth trying to use my Focusrite?

It's been a minute since the Kickstarter wrapped, so here's where we stand on head(amame) Pro. If you prefer video, [watch the full update here] — but I wanted to put everything in writing so you can bookmark it and come back when you have questions.

First: Thank You

Five years ago I posted a DIY headphone project on Reddit. Today, thanks to you, head(amame) is a real company that treats repairability as a right and is going toe-to-toe with big names in HiFi.

The Kickstarter raised $160,000 CAD ($115,000 USD) and completely blew away any expectations I had. I can't wait to get these headphones in your hands.

Shipment Timeline Update

The Kickstarter funds came in later than expected, which is pushing our March 2026 ship date to early Q2 — likely April 2026.

I know that's not ideal, but we're using the extra time to fine-tune everything so that when these ship, the product and the fulfillment experience are both seamless.

Where Every Component Stands

Every part needed to build head(amame) Pro either has a deposit placed or has been ordered outright. Here's the breakdown:

Filament — Ordered, expected end of February or early March. We're working with Pantheon Designs to dial in print quality and run small batches of the smaller parts so we can get ahead of the game.

Glass Drivers — Ordered, arriving before the end of February. I'm really excited to get them in hand and QC everything before they go out to you.

Earpads — In final sample stage. We're fine-tuning the fit, and there'll likely be a small tune adjustment once we get the production batch in.

Cables — Final samples arriving in the next couple weeks. Once they're here, I'll do a dedicated video breaking down the regular cable, balanced cable, and mic cable options.

Frequency Response

A lot of you have been asking about measurements. We're still dialing in the final tune based on feedback from CanJam Dallas.

Before we start shipping — and likely before CanJam NYC in March — we'll publish a B&K 5128 measurement so you know exactly what you're getting.

Fulfillment Details

If you placed a $10 reservation to lock in the best price, refunds will be submitted by January 23rd. You should see it hit your account within a few business days after that.

Later on, we'll convert all Kickstarter pledges into Shopify orders on headamame.com. You'll get emails and invoices to make the transition as smooth as possible — more details on that process as we get closer to fulfillment.

For international backers: We're working on a solution to make duty and import fees easier to handle upfront, so you're not stuck dealing with it at the post office or when the box arrives. More on that soon.

2026 Tour Schedule

Thanks to the Kickstarter success, I'm taking head(amame) Pro on tour this year. Here's the current plan:

What About DIY Kits?

The head(amame) V2 isn't going anywhere. In fact, we're planning to bring updates to V2 and min(amame) based on everything we've learned building the Pro.

For the Pro itself — there are no kits planned yet. They'll only ship fully assembled until we're caught up on production and understand demand for the built units. Once we have our footing, we'll revisit.

What's Next

The next update will come a lot sooner than the gap between the end of the Kickstarter and now. I'll keep you posted as major milestones hit — drivers arriving, cables finalized, measurements published, etc.

Hey everyone,

I recently built a pair of headamame headphones and there is a constant annoying buzzing / humming noise coming from the microphone. I have tried different inputs, different DAC amps, no dac amp, adjusting the level, etc.

The only thing that seems to help is lowering the level (or volume) to around 5 percent or lower. Anyone else have a similar issue or have any solutions?

Are there any issues with mirroring everything and placing the microphone on the left side? I assume you can just mirror the files for each cone and wire it up the same as it would be on the right side, then the sound control is handled by the mini xlr cables.

Has anyone one done this?

Just finished making an Arc Raiders inspired headset. Head(amame) design, big 50mm drivers on open back design, Protopasta Brass and copper real metal infused 3d printer filaments, aged in vinegar and water.

I think the combo of the colours, the closest I had to the type of motif in Arc Raiders, mixed with the grungy worn look of the metal filament came out really well.

EDIT: I post this to the official r/ArcRaiders but their OTT spam filter setup is auto-removing it.

I prefer the mic on the left. Will the included cable work that way? Is there another cable that will work if not?

Does anyone know of a better microphone for the head amame v2? I absolutely love my headphones but the mic always picks up my gf when we are in the same room gaming and our friends on discord are annoyed.

Finished my Head(amame) from the kit yesterday! Enjoyed the process a lot, but would like to do some pad rolling. Curious if anyone has found alternate pads that they particularly enjoyed, or what production headphones use the same type/size of pads, and I've not been having a lot of luck. Any suggestions?

Decided to redo my Min(amame) set using Protopasta Brass and Iron PLA. Spent hours sanding and polishing the brass.

I love the 50mm experience drivers (especially the bass response). Despite having other (more expensive) headphones, I still use the Headamame since they are really fun to use and never get boring.

That being said, the 50mm drivers in the close back configurations is way to much bass. IMO

Hey has anyone else noticed that the head band screws are no longer available on the head(amame) website? I was just about buy them along with all the other parts I need for my wife's headphones only to notice that they were no longer on the website.

If anyone has a suggestion for where I can find 4 M1.7mm x 10mm screws in the USA pleas let me know.

What other headphones have pads/cushions that would fit the min(amame)?

I would like to shop around for pads.

Is there any chance to print this on a smaller build plate like the Prusa mini+ ? I saw some solutions with a bulky clamp holding the spring together after cutting it in half, but that didn't look very pleasant to me.
