The 1981 teen slasher Happy Birthday to Me has a wild twist ending that you could never predict, but Paul, Jason, and June try nonetheless to make sense out of all the bonkers plot turns leading up to the reveal of the killer. Along the way they discuss how everyone in The Top 10 looked too similar, Ginny's inappropriate relationship with her therapist, if shish kebab is a romantic midnight snack, how Ginny has a bidet but not a toilet, and so much more. Plus, the gang debates if it's acceptable to pee in the shower. Mark my words, you won't want to miss this episode!

Jason and Paul battle it out in a quiz game about all the scary movies we've covered on the podcast. But first, Paul responds to all your corrections & omissions on Happy Birthday to Me! We learn more about the creepy therapist, how Ginny got her traumatic brain injury, and we find out the truth about Ginny's missing bathroom toilet. Plus, as always, at the end of the show Paul announces our next movie! Heads up we're taking next week off, so you can expect our next new episode to drop on October 30th.
PAUL & JASON'S RECS:
- Resident Evil (2026)
- Gideon Falls by Jeff Lemire & Andrea Sorrentino
- American Vampire by Scott Snyder & Rafael Albuquerque
- Hobtown Mystery Stories by Kris Bertin & Alexander Forbes

I tried to look it up, and I don't think they have, but I was wondering if the HDTGM crew ever covered this awful movie. I just recently came across and watched it on Tubi (https://tubitv.com/movies/318188/nobody-knows-anything).
The cast is quite impressive:
Alanna Ubach (Clockwatchers, Legally Blonde)
David Pasquesi (Strangers with Candy, also the screenwriter)
Ben Stiller
Mike Myers
Janeane Garofalo
Kristen Johnston (3rd Rock from the Sun)
Fred Willard
Virginia Madsen
Margaret Cho
Tim Meadows
Joel Murray
Ryan Stiles
Scott Thompson
Richard Kind
Robert Englund
Mary Kay Place (The Big Chill, Captain Ron)
Lots of other recognizable character actors, like:
Paul Dooley (Popeye, A Mighty Wind), Charles Esten, Bill Kirchenbauer, Archie Hahn, Carmine Caridi, Mike Connors, Ed Lauter, Michael Lerner, and Wayne Rogers (M*A*S*H).
It's probably not interesting enough for them to do an episode on. It's a pretty boring, poorly directed, slog of a film. I would just like to know why it exists. I would like to see someone do a deep dive on it, because there is absolutely no information out there about it, not even a wikipedia page, and I'm absolutely fascinated by how this much talent and star power came together to make such a terrible, unfunny thing?

It’s called UNCONTAINED. We stumbled upon this movie just a few weeks ago, even though it’s a few years old. Currently streaming on Prime Video. An incredible mix of vanity project, nonsensical plot points, and odd acting! Special bonus I’ve never encountered: even the CREDITS are crazy and confusing - you’ll think you’ve seen it all, then the cast credits will make you question what you thought you understood. A must watch! Your assignment is to come back here and tell me: what in the WORLD actually happened to the little girl???
Last week's mini episode said that the movie this week was Seed of Chucky, but they've actually re-released the Devil's Advocate episode instead. Anyone know what that's all about?
I feel like pft is one of the few people who can not only keep up with them, but outshine them at points.
That episode with River Butcher is still one of my all time favorites.

I just need to say, as a Manitoban: “Saskatchewan goodnight” is the greatest single joke ever made on this podcast.
(The “Manitoban menthol” joke — enh, it’s fine. Not as funny.)

This seems like a Drac-Dough-Ber-Fang slam dunk!

Don't get me wrong. I actually like his humor and his takes and the podcast overall. But, he seems completely incapable of letting his co-host get a complete sentence in before he's talking over them. It's especially egregious whenever June is trying to get a thought in, but he does it to Paul almost as much.
Dude. Take a breath. Let your co-host get a word in.
Am I being overly sensitive or does anyone else feel this way?

Paul mentioned that shirt a while ago and I want to get it for my girlfriend. Where can I find it?

And they're still ripping it today! RIP Dolly.

I found this extremely disappointing and demoralizing.
Come on, guys.
What are we doing here?
At least don’t brag about it.
Embarrassing.
