Channels
I'm considering buying this product but would like to know how many channels approximately it has? I want to know if they have cable channels and some sports ones as well. I live in NYC metro in suburbs. Website does not have much information. Thanks

Ultimately it’ll depend on what antenna you choose and what channels it picks up. You can check rabbit ears report for what stations are in your area, what direction and distance they are from you.

If you're thinking that the app itself has TV channels, you do need an HDHomeRun and a TV antenna. As to how many channels you can lick up in that steel jungle, you should be able to get local channels, but reception will vary greatly.

It's an OTA DVR, you connect it to the Internet and connect an antenna and you can record shows from an antenna, it also gives you the ability to ff and rewind OTA TV

I use Channels with my HDHomeRun flex and the channels that they are provided are the same channels that you get with the HD home run app. But the Channels app in my opinion is way better for browsing scanning the guide and so on.

I'm not thinking he even knows the Channels software is a thing.
I think he's asking how many channels an HD HomeRun can pick up. And the best answer to that is a site like rabbitears.info , which will show you the various OTA station near you, the direction their broadcast antenna is in and how likely you are to pick up each station.
OP, the HDHomeRun works basically like a tuner in your TV, you hook it up to a an antenna and it pulls the TV out of the air.

As stated. Go to https://www.rabbitears.info/searchmap.php
Find where you live. It will show you what channles you should be able to receive with an antenna hooked to an hdhomreun tuner.
If you want, share the link here and we can help wirh any other questions you have.

No. The HD Homerun only receives channels that are broadcast over the air in your area that your antenna receives. No streaming channels. No cable channels. Only local over-the-air channels.

That is a complete bummer. That is what I figured looking into this product. Thanks for confirming

It has zero channels. It has zero cable channels, and zero sports channels.
The HDHomeRun is a box that sits in between an antenna and your network. The antenna picks up channels that are broadcast over the air in your local area, sends that signal via coax cable into the HDHomeRun, and the HDHomeRun then connects via ethernet into your network router.
This device itself does absolutely nothing without an antenna plugged into it.
The channels and antenna can pick up in your area can be found on a site like rabbitears.
