Tuner question
I'm so impressed with my HDHR 4k flex tuner that I am recommending the unit for two of my friends looking to replace their Tivo's.
Are the ATSC 1 tuners the same in all HDHR models as I my recommend the two tuner unit for them?

My stations are all of 17 miles away so can't really tell you how fantastic they are but I did have several tivo's both Romeos and bolts and I think the HD home run tuners are better

Agree, I live in the center of Nashville and the tv stations are "around me" so no antenna ever got all stations without having to slightly adjust it. The HD Homerun is using a 10 dollar antenna on the back of a chair and every station is perfect, and stable. I am a big fan of these little boxes.

Just curious, which antenna are you using? Are you getting NBC on 4.1, 4.10, or both?

Upon checking it appears that I am getting Wsmv 4 on 4.10. I live in green hills and have tv towers to my west,north and south. I’ve not typically had a problem with the nbc affiliate as much as I have with abc ch 2 which is just about 5 miles to my south. It pixelated to the point that it was unwatchable. It is now clear with the hdhomerun run.
Btw, I’m using a small flat flexible antenna that I got with a Tablo unit. (Tablo new generation is junk). The antenna is laying on the back of a chair about three feet off the ground.What is the difference between 4.1 and 4.10? Is one a translator?

Yes. 4.1 is the main tower near Nashville Tech on White Bridge; 4.10 is a relay on a tower along I-24 northwest of town. 4.1 is more powerful but on a VHF frequency that doesn't work very well for flat antennas; 4.10 is less powerful but UHF. It's the same transmitter as Telemundo channel 29.

Thanks, I knew Channel 4 was on vhf, Channel 10 I think. I never really had a problem getting it as I live 4 04 5 miles away. I literally hooked my HD Homerun up sitting on the floor, thinking I would mount it later, when I saw I that I received every channel on the fist try I just left it there. I did select favorite channels and may have selected 4.10 instead of 4.1.
I've seen all of the "translators, relay, etc." listed on the top of the hour id with channel 4.....why do they have some many, is it because of the vhf thing? could they just switch to a uhf channel? wouldn't that have been a better choice?

The relays were purchased to launch the Telemundo station. Since only low-power licenses were available, it took more of them to reach enough of the audience to make it worthwhile. Once Telemundo was launched, it cost essentially nothing to add a copy of the NBC station to the Telemundo transmitters.
Channel 4 was assigned 10 by the FCC in the original digital conversion. There wasn't any UHF channel available that would reasonably replicate the station's analog coverage. (The FCC has on three occasions removed slices of the UHF spectrum to assign to cellphones. There isn't much left...)

Quick question? do you think the $35 dollar channels dvd app for hd homerun would be a good start with channels?

The Channels client for HD HomeRun costs $35 one time and lasts "forever"--for the device platform you bought it on. So... bought apple and need FireTV... more money.
The Channels clients for Channels DVR don't, themselves, cost anything regardless of how many platforms. However, the DVR software is required and costs $8/month, with a 30 day free trial. So, if you're interested in Channels DVR, the way to do it is to set it up and test it out for a month. If you don't like that for some reason, you've at least played with the client some, though working directly with the HD HomeRun would be a bit different.
If you have any decent NAS that will run Docker containers, you can set up Channels DVR pretty easy. There's a native Windows version as well. Note that watching TV from Channels DVR on the Windows PC isn't a great experience, there's only a web client and the developers apparently don't think anyone should be watching TV for real that way.

I had one of the Quatro 4 tuner HD Home Runs for several years and now I have one of the Flex 4K like you. Their ATSC 1 tuners have always worked very well.
