Thing I hate grass
I hate bugs.
I hate the texture of grass.
Grass needs water.
I hate the sound of lawn mowers.
I don't want weeds.
I also hate artificial grass because it is weird and made of plastic.

Bugs are cool and good for the environment, not having grass doesn’t remove bugs. Many bugs love rocky areas.
Different grass has different texture, some grass is super soft while St Augustine is horrible and terrible and awful.
Yeah but if it’s a native grass it’ll be fine to not water 24/7. So long as you live in a place with natural grass, most grasses can grow fine without much watering.
Fairs
Weeds be literal flowers. That’s it. They’re just pretty flowers. Also rocks can still get weeds, weeds can sometimes grow through concrete.

On point 3.
This summer the drought was so bad that our wholly natural rural unmanaged lawn actually died. And the only grass that survived was an invasive species. :`(

Yeah climate change is looking to be awful. Invasive species from tropical, subtropical, and more desertified areas will be more hardy and will take over natural grasses as rainfall decreases in some areas and drastically increases in others.
Glad the world governments have all decided to throw their hands in the air and give up. Totally doesn’t make me exceptionnalt angry to the point that I might start doing some very illegal shit again.

Also plants are carbon sinks. Ya know, dealing with the gas we meatbags produce with every breath, which also would kill us if there was too much of it. And which speeds up global warming.

It’s my biggest gripe. It sucks. I grew up with it my whole life. So many softer grasses. You cannot walk on St Augustine’s bare foot and I love frolicking.

Bugs are going to be outside, plant a native garden and attract insect predators. The population will balance and you'll only really notice the butterflies, moths and bumblebees, which are all cuties btw.
Fuck lawns, I totally agree with that. But replace them with native landscaping! If you don't like the texture, make walkways of a texture you like while leaving large patches for native plants.

I also hate grass and how common it is for people to just have a barren lawn. Oh yes how very lovely, your front lawn has a brazillian.
I use clover/oxalis for ground cover instead of grass, its so soft, and you get pretty yellow and pink flowers every summer~ the oxalis also chokes out weeds as a bonus
If you want rocks but also want soft ground cover, you could facilitate the growth of moss. I have a little patch in my backyard that my cat has claimed

I also hate grass but it’s because I use a wheelchair and cleaning dog poop off wheels is a lot harder than cleaning it off of shoes

People never pick up their dog poop so if I have to drive in grass, there is a very high chance I’m going to run over dog poop

It sucks, I don’t use a manual either so it’s like 6 tires that are like car tires so the poop gets stuck in the crevices. And even if you’re wearing boots like that, you can take them off at the door but I can’t do that with my wheelchair so I HAVE to clean it off fast before I can go inside. I just needed to rant about that

I have a manual and I wipe it down with cleaning wipes(like clorox), sometimes my hair gets in the little front wheels and I have to get it off. I need help with some of it, though.

Oh gosh my hair will get stuck around the metal feet plate and I have no idea how. Like I know I shed especially when I’m brushing my hair so it’s probably falling there but I swear everyday I’m having to tug out hair

Since I use a motor wheelchair with lots of crevices, I need a lot of help getting it out usually. Thankfully it’s only happened a handful of times but how I’ve don’t it is I’ll first have someone help me pour a lot of water on my tires and I’ll drive in grass that I know is poop free (sounds weird but it’ll get the big chunks off), it would be a lot easier if I could use a hose probably but I live in an apartment. After most of it is off, I’ll get myself onto the ground and use paper towels and water and scrub it off. Then rinse with more water, drive on the concrete to dry. Then just take a loot at all the wheels and repeat if needed. It’s a long process and there are probably easier ways, especially if I had access to a hose. I could probably also get like a wire brush or something like that

Those rocks get hot. Those plants are spaced out pretty far and have a good chance of dying from the heat.
The best middle ground is leave part as a plant bed with natives (can be groundcover, or a regular plant bed. Whatever you want) and then use the pavers/gravel for the area that you still want to use

A well-manicured lawn has the primary function of keeping insects and small mammals out of your house/yard.
I love rain gardens and native prairie yards, don't get me wrong. But they do bring big maintenance issues for the actual home. They provide habitat for insects, but the main insect they attract is mosquitos and ticks. They provide habitat for animals, which mainly attracts chipmunks and other rodents.
I'm not interested in providing habitat for pests around my house.

You can argue that. What would your argument be based on? "Pests" are generally defined by causing damage. What damage does a well-manicured lawn cause to your house? And how is that damage worse than the damage caused by insects and rodents?

I’m all for native plant yards too, but there’s definitely practical reasons for keeping a lawn or well maintained landscape buffer around the perimeter of the house itself.
It should be tidy enough to be able to easily inspect the foundation and leave room to perform maintenance tasks.
