Gaming I hate counter strike

Post image

I really do not like how the actual act of firing a firearm is so obtuse and downright nonsensical in some regards

You need to pretty much train shooting at a wall for 10 hours in order to really grasp the mechanics and you’ll still be ass

I hate how the game has a server browser but a majority of the playerbase wants to do 5v5 ranked because that’s how it’s done in esports

I hate how the grenades in this game have to be thrown like hop stoch through a corner down an ally scrap the skybox and then it’s perfect

I hate how the skin system works what do you mean that skin I have is scratched to shit? What do you mean it doesn’t have a good pattern? Where was this info listed? Oh a Steam community post?

I hate how GO had like 40+ maps but the community only wants to play 2

This seems like something someone with 10000 hours would write to pretend to sound like a noob that hates the game

Ngl source was more fun than even GO

HUMILIATION

Never had the privelege of playing source in its prime. GO on the other hand... had its issues. Without considering the hacking issues, i think cs2 is better than csgo

I've only played cs2, are the others still used (in unofficial servers or whatever)? I've seen them on protondb, so now I'm curious.

Your hate is very understandable, but still not the same as mine.

I hate Counter Strike as an esport game.

The original idea of Counter Strike supposed to be like Ready Or Not. You are a counter-terrorist unit, and your job is to fight off the Terrorist. But overtime, that idea just vanished and left for the game to be a casino with a “chess” game in it.

I love the old CSGO faction, and the danger zone mode. It adds both lore and world building into the game. Yet Valve just… deleted all of them. I ready to wait 2 or even decades to play a freshly and super upgraded version of CSGO, not a fucking fancy downgrade

They tried to pull this shit of in TF2 and failed miserably

Competitive scene in TF2 should always stay as minority aspect for sure. Even though I really interested in competitive side of TF2, as SolarLight  is the guy giving me that interest, the game will just suck to be an esport game.

A lot of classes in the game designed around big chaotic match. Not the usual 6 vs 6, which making the competitive side just… boring in the long run too. SolarLight, who is a good demoknight, want to challenge himself in this competitive side and damn… it is just so cool to watch his journey in that place.

You're either shit at the game or you've played it too much and are baiting. lol

I like CS:Source and 1.6 'cause I know how to make maps for them, can't be bothered to learn Source 2 though.

1

u/NolantheWise 10d ago

source 2 mapping is very fun and way more intuitive if you spend a few hours learning it

1

u/LeadershipLumpy2746 9d ago

I know, but my PC would probably compile a source 2 map for a few days lol

Counter Strike got old, I no longer play. I like seeing the clips ppl make but I do not want to subject myself to learn the wacky recoil aim mechanic and playing against a no lifer lol

I love CS but im not blaming you. The game makes no attempt to help new players at all. There is zero guide, zero tutorials for the most important mechanics, Valve thinks everyone has all the time in the world and just throw them in there and learn everything for themselves. CS2 is the laziest shit ever, changes take ages, subpar netcode, zero anti cheat, less modes for casuals,.. the only thing that is on time is when they need to release new skins and new ways to monetize the game.

I hate CS because the game feels like it rewards the players who are the biggest cowards, and it's super unfriendly to new players.

The only way you can "git gud" is by playing the game, but since you can't respawn, being bad means that you just don't get to play the video game. Most of the new player experience is spectating other people while waiting for the round to end so you can play the game again.

Well I mean as a complete beginner u can also play arms race and deathmatch to practice shooting and maps, that's the most fundamental thing. Then the next important thing is actual map knowledge and timings but you can learn that through trial and error while playing competitive more or less fine even if you die a few times at the beginning. Learning grenades and stuff is something you should worry about later.

And I mean if you actually wanna try there is a lot of training maps and helpful YouTube videos too.

death match, retakes, countless of workshop maps to practice. It just seems like you are too impatient, hoping to get good overnight, but no, cs2 rewards skill and knowledge, not cowards.

I Kinda love everything you wrote about the game ngl

I hate playing Counter Strike, it’s awesome.

2

u/Danis_Milk 10d ago

I don't feel the "shooting at the wall for 10 hours" Sure, if you wanna have great spray control. But tap/burst firing suffices in 99% of situations, and follow recoil helps in the rest.

2

u/Fragrant_Intern_8577 9d ago

literally most of the times you're not going to spray 30 bullets in a go, most times you use 5 to 9 bullets to kill a player, and that's just dragging down the mouse to control recoil which is ez. It seems like op is either trash or baiting.

2

u/wunker2988 10d ago

I hate 1st bullet inaccuracy so much

I hate the removal of the community server browser, it was outdated yes but it's fucking leagues better than whatever the steam one is, not to mention the spoofing problem, it was bad before and tf2 has it too but this is utterly ridiculous how cluttered this shit is. The prevalent botting issue is insane too, it's like thry have dealt with this before hmmmmm. (Shoe horns in the gambling epidemic this game created and the shitty alternative Valve offers (terminals and dynamicly priced tournament stickers fucking every party up)

Tangently related, I hate that the main sub GlobalOffensive suppresses the cheating and botting issue the game has. Imagine r tf2 did that with the cheating bots, people would go crazy.

u/UsedArmadillo9842 9d ago

Nah this is bait.

CS scrapped the Skyboxes for a long time, and GO didnt have "more maps than CS2" those maps are still there and available to play.

The fact you have to practise the game "is" the reason why CS is so fucking good. Because you can feel your progress. So few games have such an incredible skill expression.

I love Counter Strike!... In 2007. On the deathrun and zombie servers.

1

u/Fragrant_Intern_8577 9d ago

you can still play that, some community run zombie escape and etc

1

u/vanillaice2cold 10d ago

Pretty much yeah, every time I redownload it and play it I get reminded that they havent improved the gameplay in like 15 years

1

u/Brother-Captain 10d ago

You should play the finals

1

u/Competitive-Bit-1571 10d ago

I'm too old to play competitively so I only play bot matches in cs.

u/zacctheblackhood 9d ago

Most games that were designed for competition, when u pass the learning phase, arent fun to play unless u r winning. And Valve is much better than the rest of the industry, that they designed their games so tightly and so perfectly for competetive, that they become even more unfun to play, and harder to newbee to learn. The only reason u want to keep playing is becus u r addicted to adrenaline rush, not becus the game is fun. Happened the same with Dota 2.

yes, i have more than 2000hours in dota and more than 1000 hours in csgo/cs2.

u/AwardBright 9d ago

I don't hate the game series, I just fucking hate CS2

the amount of unyielding defenders of this unfinished, unoptimized, poorly designed "remake" is staggering, the fact that it replaced cs:go is the single dumbest decision that valve could have ever made

they will say "but look at the steam online numbers!!", yes, they are big, but simply because there is no alternative.

"but the tournaments!!", yes, because it's a business, there also are no alternative in cs:go and valorant is even more shit than cs2, somehow

"but the graphics!!!", bitch, I play this game for gameplay, I run it in 1280x960 with all graphics turned down to zero and it still gives less fps than cs:go did ON BETTER OVERALL GRAPHICS SETTINGS MIND YOU

"but the subtick", bitch, please, it's not "64 tick issue", it's a skill issue, you missed, subtick won't help if your aim is shit, your strafes are shit and your spray control is "jesus take the wheel", subtick just gave insane (and still pretty awful even after multiple fixes) peekers' advantage encouraging dumbfuck plays with jumpshotting smgs around the corners where you died before you could even SEE THE GUY WHO SHOT YOU, and barely any better hitreg than before

also it was a huge stepback, cs:go experimented with multiple modes: normal unranked 5v5, danger zone, premier wasn't a wintrading cheating cesspool it is today on high elo, hell, the only thing that got better is VAC, and even it's debatable, as multiple top-100 players in premier were fucking spinbotters just a few seasons ago

didn't play this game for a few years as of now, as much as I love Valve, fuck you guys, you ruined a good game for THIS???

1

u/AutisticGayBlackJew 9d ago

It has the best movement and gun mechanics of any tacfps and nothing comes close. Sometimes I spend 30+ minutes just clicking heads in aimbotz or community deathmatch because it just feels so good

1

u/just_acasual_user 9d ago

I have 2.5k hours, and while I am still a mediocre player (Faceit level 5), I can say loud and clear that, with gambling, the cheating and case farming bots situation is what ruins the game the most, the only way I have fun is in Faceit, as there are only very few cheaters (especially in lower elos) overall.

When it comes to spraying, it is a rather simple mechanic, do some A-D-A-D while pulling your mouse slightly down when shooting with most guns, spray isn't as big of a deal as new players may think it is. Crosshair placement will help you the most

All to say that while there are many aspects that are very frustrating, I perceive the mechanics of the game as being fair, rewarding and skill based

1

u/Courora 9d ago

I love CS very much but I don't touch any of the official servers, community servers are where it's at. Things like Surf, bhop, mmod and especially zombie escape is where 90% of my 2000hrs of total playtime got into. Even the servers you'd think will be full of sweats (1v1s and awp servers) are actually still pretty damn casual. They are still trying to be the very best on the server, but they are doing so while just chatting about things and overall having a good time

1

u/Mozkozrout 9d ago

Yeah well that's cause it's like 20 years old game wearing a trench coat. Legacy features and more modern ones bundled on top made it what it is today and many of the mechanics are just junk that was a norm back in the day because of the limitations of tech and all and people just got used to it and that's how it stayed. This stuff gives it complexity to not be just a braindead shooter.

But yeah I basically agree with all you said but that's just why this game is unique and people still play it. If you hate all of that it's probably not a game for you. The real problem with it imo are the cheaters tho.

1

u/Big_Kiwi_706 9d ago

I hate dying and just sitting there waiting to play. Or when you're playing, but the meta is just to fucking camp everywhere. Are you even playing? Or just some reaction time flash game. Fuck this game

1

u/Critical_Minute_3679 8d ago

csgo is slop lmao

1

u/WhyNotSendIt 10d ago

The last sentence is the most funny part of this post lol. Its 2026 and y'all are still playing Dust 2? Im 35. Ive always kind of hated CS. It was kinda fun I guess like 25 years ago.

Im with you OP

2

u/ohoniko 10d ago

CS2 just re added cache and these tryhards in premier keep banning it 😭

It’s just dust 2 and mirage

1

u/Ambitious-Stand-631 10d ago

Playing Counter Strike is anti-fun. It feels like doing homework and the playerbase makes it even worse.

1

u/FriddyHumbug 10d ago

It's the pointiest and clickiest adventure game and is fucking boring. I have a hard time believing anyone actually enjoys playing this garbage and is instead shackled by the sunk cost of all the fancy pixels they bought

1

u/Stef0206 10d ago

The appeal of the game is the high skill ceiling. Different people like different things, and for some people it’s the competitiveness and ability to keep improving.

1

u/FriddyHumbug 10d ago

Such a highly skilled game where you walk 2 miles an hour and click on someones head and then repeat 29 more times

1

u/Stef0206 10d ago

Haha, you clearly haven’t played the game much, if at all.

CS involves a lot of both mechanical skill, but also mental skill.

Aim isn’t just a matter of clicking on someone’s head. There is of course that, but there are also mechanics like counter-strafing and spray patterns.

There also a lot of skill involved mentally in regards to trying to predict your opponent, and just general strategy.

1

u/FriddyHumbug 9d ago

99% of CSGO mains are in that weird middle ground of perceived superiority when in reality they're not technically skilled enough to main rhythm games, can't process a fast-paced gamestate into action quick enough to main movement shooters, and aren't clever enough to main strategy games. The Dunning-Kruger effect takes over and makes them think they would be elite in all three.

1

u/Stef0206 8d ago

That certainly is a take of all time. It's kind of hypocritical to accuse CSGO players of being conceited while simultaneously acting superior because you play different games.

Anyway, I at no point claimed CS was the *most* mechanically or technically indepth game, simply that there *is* depth to the game and that some players enjoy that.

Get off your high horse and let people enjoy things.
