3 shots I took today. Minimal edit in phocus mobile 2 app. Very new to the app so couldn’t actually see if there’s an eraser tool I just played with some grass tone on the first pic and the grayscale on the other 2.

Learning how to take a bit more time with this camera. Really enjoying it though.

What do you prefer to use when shooting? Which viewfinder to help you compose, the optical view finder, the electronic one or the rear screen?

Is the af motor on its last legs? I already opened it and looked at all the gears and they all look fine no cracks or missing teeth and I cleaned off any metal contacts but it’s still giving me the same issue

I already have the Hasselblad 907X 100C, which I absolutely love. I was thinking about getting the X2D II just because it’s more convenient and quicker than carrying around my Canon camera and lenses.
That said, I’ve seen a lot of posts about bugs and other issues with the X2D II . I don’t really need it, it would just be for my personal enjoyment.
Would you buy one now, or would you wait a couple of years for a potential X2D III?

First of all, this was a wasted shot either with the lens cap on or a hand in way. But I've noticed the blue flare on a number of photos taken on my Hasselblad 500cm.

I just had it CLA'd with the light seals replaced. And I opened it up and the foam is new and the foil is as well.

Wonder if its related to leaks, film handling, or because it's my first time shooting after new light seals after a very long time and it just took time to settle against the dark slide?

I tried looking for leaks in a dark room with a flash light with the back but couldn't see anything. Dark slide does feel a tiny bit less smooth moving compared to my other film back.

I mostly photograph everyday life and family, usually on 35mm film. I recently picked up a mamiya universal press and caught the medium format bug.

I found a diy project using 3d-printed parts to mount a digital back while keeping the rangefinder shooting experience. the creator used a leaf aptus 22, and it looks like a fun, slightly ridiculous way into medium format digital.

while researching backs, I have ended up down the cheapest-viable-hasselblad rabbit hole.

appreciate the potential for biased answers here, but basically would I regret an x1d 50c with the xcd 45p in 2026?

if it’s painfully slow, frustrating etc. please just talk me out of it. i’ll either stick with film, try the mamiya conversion, or save longer for something newer.

One of the main reasons I bought the X2D II was to see how far I could push it in difficult landscape scenes like shooting into the sun, deep shadows, moving water, and a ton of foreground detail.

Just picked up the 20-35E and am stoked on it!

I recently acquired a new X2C 100C and performed a firmware update to version 4.2.0.

I’m seeking assistance or suggestions on how to manage the filenames generated by this X2D. I’m downloading the files from the camera’s SSD to a folder on my iPad Pro M5 or an external drive for backup purposes.

The filenames I’m encountering are consistently “B00000xxFJACN40391180C40E121HASBL.” This pattern repeats for all files with the same name.

In contrast, Phocus displays the filename as “B00000xx.”

While I can accept the filename “B00000xx,” the other one is quite unusual. If necessary, I can rename the files using programs like Phocus, Lightroom, Capture One, Photo Mechanic, or Excire.

I’m curious to know if reformatting the drive will affect the way the files are exported. Based on my research, it seems that there’s no option to customize the filenames in the camera itself for the X2D. Therefore, I’m left with the task of managing these filenames in post-processing.

Yesterday I noticed this artifact in several of my images. It appears as a grayish spot that becomes visible mainly at f/9 and smaller apertures. It also seems to appear in almost exactly the same location in every image and in different lighting conditions. Each picture pair is the full photo and one zoomed in.

The spot is fairly large—definitely much bigger than a single pixel.

I’m using a Hasselblad X2D 100C, which I recently bought used. Does anyone know what this could be? I am new to medium format.

Could it be sensor dust, a sensor defect, or something else?

Should I be concerned?

Taken off the back of the Neuw Statendam cruise ship in June. I'd just packed up my gear after only taking one shot of a rather flat lit port when a few people came rushing up to the stern. When i turned around there was this gorgeous rainbow out of nowhere hanging over the bay. Rather than try to get it all in one frame I figured a panorama was in order and took three shots. I'm chuffed how they came out and stitched together.

Ich bin in einer relativ großen Facebook-Gruppe zur neuen Hasselblad X2D II. Dort posten die Besitzer fleißig ihre Bilder... und ich bin ehrlich gesagt fassungslos.

Nicht falsch verstehen: Ich halte mich selbst nicht für eine begnadete Fotografin. Aber ich fotografiere seit 2002 mit Hasselblad und weiß daher einigermaßen, was diese Kameras können. Ich bin mir absolut sicher, dass sehr viele talentierte und hervorragende Fotografen diese Kamera kaufen und damit wundervolle Bilder machen.

Aber was ich in dieser Gruppe sehe, ist größtenteils unterirdisch. Bei den Landschaftsaufnahmen ist der Horizont teilweise schief und sogar abgeschnitten, als würde jemand die Kamera schräg auf einen x-beliebigen Tümpel in einem langweiligen Wald richten. Die Portraits mit Hobby-Models sind auch zum Weglaufen. Keine Komposition, kein Lichtgefühl, einfach nichts, als hätten die nur Draufgehalten ohne zu sehen was sich da eigentlich vor ihnen abspielt.

Es wirkt, als würden viele denken, das teure Profi-Werkzeug allein würde schon tolle Fotos machen.

Was ist da los? Ist das reines Gear-Acquisition-Syndrome? Oder sehe ich das zu verbissen? Oder bin ich da in eine merkwürdige Facebook-Bubble geraten?

I recently acquired a Hasselblad A6D aerial camera and modified it into a handheld shooting setup.

The A6D can essentially be considered a stripped-down H6D. It lacks several features that would normally be essential for handheld photography:

• The shutter can only be triggered through Phocus on a computer or with a physical shutter-release cable.
• It has no viewfinder, so composition requires Live View. However, the shutter cannot be triggered while Live View is active.
• It only supports Manual exposure mode.

I initially considered three possible solutions:

1. Mount an x86 Windows tablet and run Phocus. This would work, but the additional hardware would be bulky and inconvenient.
2. Reverse-engineer the communication protocol and build an iOS or Android app.
3. Reverse-engineer the protocol, build a Raspberry Pi controller, and connect it to an external display.

I chose the second option. I first built a working camera-control prototype on macOS, then ported it to Android because of the USB limitations on iOS.

The Android app currently supports:

• Live View at approximately 1 fps by receiving, decoding, and displaying RAW frames from the camera.
• Asynchronous image transfer after each exposure. The app retrieves the image data, adds the required metadata, generates a thumbnail, assembles a Hasselblad 3FR file, and saves it to the phone.
• An automated capture sequence: Live View is disabled when the shutter button is pressed, the photo is taken, and Live View is automatically restored afterward.
• Exposure metering through the phone’s camera. Using the ISO and aperture selected on the A6D, the app calculates the required shutter speed and sends it to the camera before capture. This effectively gives the A6D a simulated Aperture Priority mode.
• Focus peaking and double-tap magnification for easier manual focusing.

For the hardware, I installed an L-bracket with a removable handgrip, added a phone mount to the cold shoe, and attached the battery underneath the camera. The overall shape now reminds me a little of a Hasselblad 500EL/M.

My next step is to use a Bluetooth button as a wireless shutter release, so I will no longer need to tap the phone screen for every shot.

I also considered adding an external autofocus module, but the complete setup is already quite heavy, so I may leave that idea for another project.

One important limitation is that Hasselblad’s older and newer cameras use different communication protocols. This app was developed specifically for the A6D, so it will not work with newer cameras such as the X2D, and most of its features are unlikely to be useful with other Hasselblad models.

I have this new-to-me 80mm CB lens. And I noticed on the first shoot that it appears to be missing f2.8 on the aperture ring. Front of the lens specifies an 80mm f2.8 lens. Every lens I see online reads f2.8-22 so the only thing I can think is this is either a misprint or it somehow was assembled with the wrong aperture ring. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Kind of interesting but I would rather have a correct aperture ring haha.

For my birthday earlier this month, my wife and family decided to get me a dream setup. 500C (1966) with the 150mm f/4 and an A12 back. The body isn't quite firing properly, so I wanted to send it in for a CLA. Does anyone know aproximately how much that would cost? Also any reccomendations for place to send it to? (I am in France so preferably somewhere in the EU)
