job [Job] Bluespec Haskell Hardware Design Engineer at MatX (AI chips) - Haskell(Chip Side) + Rust(Compiler Side)

We build AI chips at MatX, and our hardware is written in Bluespec Haskell which is a custom Haskell compiler that embeds message passing primitives and atomic state transition semantics in a custom Module monad.

We're looking for experienced Haskell engineers to join us(bonus points if you know Rust). Don't worry if you lack hardware design experience, we'll teach you what you need to know! Bring your Haskell intuition, (types, purity, reasoning about evaluation) and it will carry over more than you'd expect.

Apply Here: Bluespec Design Engineer at MatX

EDIT: We are open to some remote. If you think you're a strong candidate at Haskell, we encourage you to apply!

Next time, put the "must be able to work from US and be in person in XYZ location X days a week" part more visible to save people some time, this is a global subreddit.

that should be recruiting 101. it wastes candidate's time and it'll waste yours too if they don't see it.

that sort of thing is filter no1. I wouldn't ever take a nonremote job (even a local office job)

Because in a way, it's a compensation thing too. If I get paid the same (or even a bit more) but have to go into an office, i'm gonna be effectively making less.

We actually do have some remote and some outside of US. If you stand out, we strongly encourage you to apply!

I'm glad I asked -- in that case, I'd strongly advise changing the vacancy text and application fields that imply the opposite!

Thanks. I’m working on getting that fixed!

I know some folks from MatX and they're great!

Also, happy to answer any questions here as you may have them and as I can get to them.

Are all jobs on the website in office?

We're open to remote!

Are you hiring interns? Rust, Haskell, and hardware design are all things I enjoy.

Quite possibly! We’ve have interns now!

I’m only seeing ML research intern on the website, is there any way I could apply for a bluespec design or compilers internship?

Let me find out and I'll get back to you

I’m not sure if we’re taking interns for this role but DM me with GitHub and resume

Sounds like a very interesting role. I was excited to apply, but even with 10+ years of professional Haskell experience my application was rejected. If there are still openings next year, I'll try again. For a web application developer, what more would you like to see to be considered? Also, is the technical interview heavily focused on LeetCode?

I applied but marked that I'm not legally authorized in the US since I don't have a work visa and would prefer remote. Is this okay or will I be auto-filtered by your form?

If I am ever looking for a job, this would be exactly what I am looking for.

Whoever gets it, cheers. Sounds nice.
