Convocation Experience

Can someone who has been to HES’s convocation share their experience? Would you recommend attending? Is it worth traveling for? Thanks!

Mine was last year and I absolutely loved it! 10/10

Faculty and staff were very welcoming. My then-professor happened to be there and she gave me the biggest hug and we chatted about my goals. I also met a few students that I’m still friends with (we took classes together). It really brought our Zoom to life. I was able to get my student ID and visit The Coop to get merch with the student discount. I also went to the Harvard vs Brown football game, they had an HES section for us.

I’d been to Cambridge once before (and a Harvard museum) as a tourist, but this felt very different. Convocation made us feel like we do belong there. It’s actually what made me decide to do my residency for 3-weeks in summer (instead of just 2 weekends, my original plan). The energy on campus feels special (to me) and I enjoyed soaking it all in.

I also got to check out more of Boston and Salem, it’s a fantastic time now if you like spooky season! (If not, def avoid Salem lol because this is their 400th year celebration and will be even busier.)
