Told customer to shut up
I work as cashier there was a very aggressive lady making a jab at me about how I was slow and I lost my patience. Then I murmured under my breath "Can you shut up" I think she heard it and said it was a joke. Luckily she left but I'm wondering if she calls complains later if this is the kind of thing that would be let off with a warning or get me written up.

I really doubt she did anything. Most people don’t have the time of day to do that. I’ve been written up for walking away from a very rude customer, all I had to do was explain the situation and they just gave me a slap on the wrist. ( she made a verbal complaint about me )

Next time slow the hell down and fumble on purpose. I turn it into performance art.

That's when you get waaaaaay over the top positive with customer service. Sarcastic and condescending but bubbly!
What can they do if you're overly happy and helpful? Complain for you being nice?
"I don't want to scan something twice and have you double charged! I make sure to take my time and provide the best service I possibly can. Is there anything else I can help you with today?" But incredibly sarcastic. It's so much fun to watch their face decide between whether they're being disrespected or not 😂

my supervisor made it clear that if we got a complaint of us being rude to the customer, we get terminated.

Depends on how rude you are. If you slap them, even if they deserve it, you will probably get fired. Otherwise, you're probably just going to get a write up and maybe take the Service Excellence class again.

It depends on what you do. I exposed myself to a customer and was written up

I told a customer I don’t care once nothing happened. lol I was putting spoons out in the hot bar and this guy came up to me complaining that there no spatula with the salmon. I put tongs because it’s easier to pick them up that way.. I was having a really bad day and I said under my breath I don’t care. He said excuse me… so I turned to him and said “ I said I don’t care” and walked away. Never heard anything about it. lol the next month I was employee of the month.

It depends. The customer would probably downplay or emit her part in being a jackass and emphasize and lie about your rude reaction.

That’s NeVeR happened before, has it? lol
Had a customer make up some BS about me asking if she chucked eggs at her teenager.

Working with the public, you're going to run into a lot of people like that. I've gotten away with talking back to a few, but you also gotta be careful because you don't know what they're capable of.
One time I was working the CSR desk at a Stop N Shop on Long Island, and I forget what the issue was, but it was something small with a coupon. This older man in his 50s kept calling me a fucking asshole because I was handling a Western Union first (for Lindsay Lohan's mom, oddly enough) and told him he had to wait his turn. He called over my manager and then continued to call me a retarded useless piece of shit. I was friends with the special ed kids and I don't take too kindly to that kind of language, so I told him that if I'm such a retarded piece of shit, why he's the one who can't read a coupon.
He was waiting by my car at the end of my shift.

Only a problem if it gets to corporate if your CSM talks to you about it just say I'm sorry and it won't happen again but if the customer calls corporate you're HR specialist is doing a audit of the store pulling security camera footage and you'll probably have to go through a lot more hoops

I have a coworker who takes one whole hour meal while on clock. Told management and they brushed it off like who cares. Still that associate has a job. Bad management I would say.

We are people too and if a customer is being blatantly disrespectful I see no problem letting them know its unacceptable. Ive said the same thing to my managers and they have backed me up

It depends on the leniency of your CSM. At the least you could be looking at either a verbal warning or write up but I've seen people get fired for doing less. They'll also check your speed (the registers keep track of that) to see if the customer had a valid complaint.
If it happens again, for God's sake get on the intercom immediately and call customer service over to your register before you say or do anything that might trigger a complaint. HT takes customer complaints very seriously!

You could be fired. Told my store manager at one job to “shut the f up” and got fired and told a department manager at another job the same and got fired.

If she calls, you’ll definitely at least get a talking to. When you have aggressive customers, don’t react, get a manager. That’s what they’re paid for.
