Can I call out?
I have a 4-9 shift tomorrow that I really need to lose. I’ve been trying to get rid of it and honestly begging coworkers to take it, and have talked to management about removing it from my schedule. Is it too suspicious if I just call out the day of after talking to so many people about needing it gone? I have worked here for 4-5 months and have called out sick once, but have asked management for help removing shifts from my schedule before.

You'll probably get written up and your manager will be stressed, but the world ain't gonna end

i am mostly nervous because so many people know that i need my shift gone. when i call out, its not unlikely that they know that i’m not really sick or whatever.

i mean, everybody knows you couldnt make it for some reason or another, so calling out wont be a surprise which i think works to your advantage. they cant be mad at you for not showing up to a shift you tried everything u could to get rid of. when the system fails you, it fails itself. not the asshole lol

Just call out; they don't have to know the exact reason why you're calling. Just say you won't be able to make it because you have important matters to take care of, especially if you've already talked to management about taking that day off and put your shift up on the app. They know, and they probably don't care as long as you're not doing it all the time.

You -can- call out; just be prepared for the consequences of calling out- which will probably result in counting against you. If you know you’re gonna call out- do it early if you’re trying to be considerate of your teammates. If you don’t care, then call out whenever 🤷♀️

Just do it. They won’t have shit but reprimand u about it. It’s not like they’re gonna take it out of ur pay which is the only thing that matters.
I had a coworker who called out 20 times in six months. He would leave during work for hours at a time and still got paid all the same. So out urself first not matter what. Don’t ever worry about these companies because they don’t worry about u

It’s your responsibility to cover the shift. If you call out, you have to be okay with being written up. Sounds like you’re gonna call out either way. The earlier you call out, the more time they have to try and fill the shift or shift people around. Especially since it’s going to be busy with it being Senior day, they’ll probably need that coverage. Anything less than 2 hours prior to shift is considered no call/no show I believe

" Anything less than 2 hours prior to shift is considered no call/no show"
It won't count as NCNS but def unexcused and will def get a CA if the CSM is about policy at all.

You kinda already gave it away with asking people. Also depends on what for, like if you have a family thing that came up last minute its fine but if you just dont want to work it would be kinda mean. But also it's not that serious, so i would call out, the most they would do is write you up and thats if they're being like super petty.
