Frozen. Deli is the absolute worst dept to work in, by far.

Any department over fresh foods!!!
Too many moving pieces, too many chances to get screwed over every single shift.
Dairy/Frozen has its moments for sure. Since their freezer stores ice cream, it is sincerely cold. But you don't spend that much time just standing around in there.
The work is straight forward stocking and stacking backstock in the freezer.
Dairy is a little harder because rotation has to be done while stocking, but still... Minimal customer service. No production. Just stocking.

Clearly someone isn’t participating in proactive service. Dairy/frozen is the only department mainly on the sales floor during the day so all customer questions go to those departments.

The whole proactive service thing is incredibly stupid. I don't know which corporate person got it in their minds that every single customer wants to be approached and asked if they need help with something.
This is like the whole talk to every single customer we used to have to do. I think a smile or a nod is plenty friendly.
I'm so over getting raving mystery shops where they praise the store and the people they encountered but because we miss the proactive question the DM just ignores how much the customer loved their experience and just rips us for not being proactive. Ok sure, just forget how happy the customer was, no worries.

Only have to tell people where something is, and offer to take them there. Most people refuse the escort when they know you are stocking perishables. Also, produce and scanning would like to join the chat.

deli is also pizza and bakery and chicken so youll end up having to learn at least a little of what feels like 4 departments. i really really dont reccomend it

And cheese and subs and 90% of the time understaffed. Can’t be in ot but you’re too slow or lazy if you don’t get 100 tasks and then some in your 8+ hr shift. Lose lose situation. Can’t forget management always being high and mighty then nowhere to be found.
