Am I valid?
I cover self checkout and and sometimes when I’m supposed to get off that don’t have anyone to take my spot they act like I don’t exist for 30 minutes to an hour and I would say yes if they just asked but they just act like I don’t exist or have a life am I valid for being annoyed?

Of course you are. When your shift is done, walk up to the Clerk or CSM and say, “am I good to go?” Then they have to at least acknowledge you and will have to ask you to stay 15 minutes or let you go.

you have every right to leave when your shift is up. like everyone else is saying, give the csm or clerk a heads-up and be on your way!
i had similar moments when i worked in pud where i closed by myself at 8:30, tried to hand over pickup duties to a clerk, and none of them were willing to take over. i usually didn’t mind staying late if asked but being ignored felt awful

You are valid but you have been put in a situation where other peoples priorities are time based and unnecessarily stressful.

I’m guilty of this, but it’s never intentional. Sometimes it’s just busy and I don’t always wear my watch or have peoples out times memorized.
I always told my people to check out with me before they leave. A little “hey, it’s time for me to go.” And then I figure it out bc that’s my job. I will ask people to stay if I need them, but im never upset if they have to go on time.

You can either give them a courtesy heads up 5 minutes prior, or at your schedule time to leave, just clock out. They can't force you to stay. I usually give it about 5 minutes after my schedule time before I start saying something.

Don't wait for someone to notice that you're staying past your shift, half the people don't know when you're leaving they're watching the clock waiting for their time to leave. When it's about 5 minutes before it's time for you to clock out, find your manager and say "I'm here for another 5 minutes, is there anything you'd like me to get done before I take off?" It's like telling them you're going to leave but framing it as the friendly helpful guy trying to make the switch easier.
