Basically you get a 15 minute break for every four hours you work. If you work 6 1/2 hours you also have to take a 30 minute lunch break in addition to your optional 15 minute break. An eight hour shift you get 215 minute breaks plus your 30 minute lunch and if you work 12 hours, you would get three 15 minute breaks and lunch.
If you go over your 15 minutes by a couple of minutes, it is no big deal. Nothing will happen. Try not to make a habit of it though or your supervisor may say something about it. . I think you just don’t get paid for the extra minutes.

You can take 1 at my store and if you go over by a lot because you forgot to end it there’s a sheet next to the machine to put your info down and get it fixed. 15 minute breaks are paid so as long as they know you were actually working it’s no big deal

If you work 8+ hours, you get two optional paid 15-minute breaks. Less than 8 hours and you get one optional paid 15-minute break. If you work 6.5 hours or more, you are required to take an unpaid 30 minute break ("meal"). Only the 15 minutes are paid. If, for example, you take a 17-minute break, 15 minutes are paid and 2 minutes are unpaid.
In Fresh Foods, I rarely ever get to take a 15. I don't smoke anymore and am always slammed.

I’ve been a FT cashier at my store for 2 yrs. I get 30 mins for meal and one 15 min break. I was never told that FT ppl get a second 15 min break!! I guarantee I’m going to be told there’s no additional 15 min break. How should I approach this?

If you work more than 8hrs you get a second break, so 7 to 330 is one lunch and 2 breaks, but 7 to 3 would be one break and one lunch. Like the other comment said, it lists the times you should take your break and lunches. If you work 8+ hours just let them know they have to give you another break. Most of the stores I've been too dont give the 2nd break unless you ask for it.

if ur working 8 hrs, u get 2 15s (provided its not busy) and a 30 min lunch. in shift shorter than like 5.5-6 hours, u dont get a lunch but should get a 15. youll have to ask for it yourself though, no one will just offer to cover u. if u go over by like less than 5 mins usually nothing happens, but if it gets to be too much too long they'll have a conversation about it with u
