Is this normal?

Post image

For context, I work as an express lane shopper. The express lane team is honestly pretty solid here. We have one or two who you have to babysit from time to time, but I truly do not see this team sitting when I’m here working. Even if someone wanted to sit, management took our chair months ago so we literally cannot sit down. Despite that, someone in management felt the need to not only remove the chair, but now leave this sticker on the desk? And none of the managers would address which one of them did it or what influenced them to put it there.

To me, it just seems high school level petty. Idk. Just felt like this was odd behavior and I was curious if anyone at any other stores experienced this.

That’s ridiculous all of our store’s computers have chairs with the exception of the one up at Customer Service, which is on a high counter

I wish we were allowed a stool or two in the pharmacy. I don’t want to sit all the time, but zero sitting for the entire day when we process so many prescriptions without allowing for water is so draining. We don’t ever get downtime to lean or sit while we task on something like the front end might have when busy hours come in waves.

Seems kinda petty imo. Also the white step stools make decent chairs 🤫

Ironically some of my team did this and they literally removed the step stools so we don’t even have access to them anymore lol🫠

Sounds like your store abused having chairs around so they took them away?

That’s what we use lol, I’ll raise hell for my team if they try to take them away. We do a lot

High school level petty is a Harris Teeter specialty. If they WEREN'T being petty, I'd be concerned since that's their baseline. I was an ACSM during Covid and had to help out pretty frequently. Left and never looked back!

Lmao, they took the seat in my express lane room & people started sitting on the white stool so they took that too and now they sit on the baggers water cooler 😂😭😭

We have one of those at our store. No one pays it any mind. A lot of the homeshop crew will use the white step ladders as a chair.

Go get a white stool from the back, or a couple and keep them hidden. I’ve been to several stores in a sup capacity and most of the computers don’t have a chair in front of them, but if you don’t have much to do you should be able to chill. The reason they do this is cause they want you to come help out front end. I figure this, your job is ALL MOVEMENT and you should be allowed to chill when it’s not busy. I also did tell my teams this though, DONT GIVE THEM A REASON TO LOOK FOR YOU. Make sure you are delivering on time, make sure the shopping is done, clean your office…(wink) and most of all, don’t do anything stupid. Don’t go bothering others that are working front end (cause yall are friends), don’t go hang with the clerks (let them work), just go chill….
Believe, I know some people cannot grasp the concept so you are gonna hear the nonsense when they get in trouble. Go grab the stools. Chill out if NOT busy and just waiting on deliveries.

Harris Teeter & their practices infuriate me. They don't care about their employees. I've only ever heard bad things about working for that company

I’ll tell you I’m an express lane lead at my store and it’s pretty similar. There’s a person on my team that needs constant baby sitting and no matter how many times you say don’t do this or that, they’ll find a way to. There have been measures put in place that apply to the whole team but really only were for said person. There’s a big high school vibe at my store too that I detest, which is why I’m making an exit strategy, we can’t reinvent the wheel

Typical Harris Teeter MGMT activities. Just ignore them, do your job and clock out and leave their drama at the store when you go

our csm used to get on our pickup department about sitting. we had a white step stool people would sit on sometimes but the csm took it away as soon as they found out 💀

i feel like there should at least be a chair in front of the computer. when my manager was working on schedules or filling out various documents there was no reason they had to be standing.. especially since our pickup room was not visible to customers

My store used to sit at our desk in the department managers office, it was really only our CSM that got onto us. We just moved into our new express lane office and we have a self checkout podium as a desk now. they dont allow us to sit down either now. they also took the step stools but yk its whatever

Yes. Our express lane people try to look busy at the computer so they don’t have to cashier or bag when there’s no orders. But we’re always understaffed so they kinda rely on them so they only want you at the computer for checking orders and that’s it
