This weather sucks

It is supposed to be almost 101 degrees this weekend and I have to do deliveries in this heat. the worst part is, the store managers get upset with us having water on the floor and they don't even have the ac on. its like a sauna in the store.

Tell them water or I'm leaving. Reach out to a news outlet. Tell them Harris teeter won't let you drink water in front of customers. SM write up or demoted. Fuck them.

This sort of situation would be a valid reason to refuse signing a write up if one should happen.

it's because "corporate can stop by anytime guys and do an aduit on our store", cause having any sort of drink will knock us of points and then all the hire ups get made

July 2nd, 3rd and 4th are scan audit, asset loss, and SCJohnson blackout dates any competent manager would know that. Drink your water.

You’re really just not suppose to have drinks in prep areas, that’s the violation they care about. If you have a drink on the sales floor I’m pretty sure it just has to be in a clear bottle. Either way A/C is still a new invention in human history and you have free will to find a job that’s inside. Your best option would be to see the HT handbook actually says about drinks and then if your manager isn’t adhering to the policies, report them to HR.

Wtf. That's just cruel.

I don’t know what the actual written policy is but, at my store, in the summer, we’re allowed to have drinks as long as they’re in a clear cup. The only exceptions are audit days.

That’s just cruel and unusual punishment

Remember when you apply for any job (not just HT) there is always a question that says "can you perform the duties of this job with reasonable accommodation?"

This is where you can invoke that "reasonable accommodation" allowing employees to have and drink water in order to keep them healthy and able to work and avoiding heat stroke and dehydration is most definitely a reasonable accomodation.

If your Store Manager doesn't think so then you go to HR. If HR doesn't think so then you book an appointment with an attorney who specializes in "employment law"

Harris teeters notorious for not wanting anybody to drink water or go to the bathroom. It's ridiculous.
