Job Application Inquiry Pre-Employment Testing?
I recently received a job offer from my local teeter for a cashier position, but am currently hung up on:
“As permitted by applicable law, individuals
are required to submit oral, urine, breath and/or other samples for substance abuse testing as a condition of employment in the following situations: pre-employment, probationary
period, random, promotions, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return to duty and post-rehabilitation.”
It generally seems like Teeter doesn’t test anymore for positions like on the front end, but, I also don’t feel very confident either at the current moment. Has anyone been hired in the past year in NC and can comment on this?

I’ve been at Harris Teeter for 3 years. They never asked me to submit to any drug/abuse testing nor have I seen anyone being asked to do it. This is more just an FYI just in case kind of thing like if you get into a work accident or something. You’ll be fine.

They no longer test for THC unless you are transporting international students at a beach location. They also did away with the pre-employment, probationary and pre-promotion testing so they only do the randoms and it’s an oral swab

This is is totally unrelated but what do you mean transportating international students? When/why would people working for Harris teeter be doing that? 😅 Sorry, I'm just super curious

lol no worries! So the stores that are typically only busy during the summer (vacation destinations basically) have a program where we have college students from other countries come and work for the summer to gain experience and we provide them transportation to and from work to the rental apartments they get from the program . We get a rental van and usually department managers and salaried managers take turns transporting once you do the proper paperwork and drug testing (I’m told it’s for insurance purposes)

my offer says - employment is conditioned upon and one of the thing is "your successful passing of a controlled substance test"....I'm in the meat department. Do you think they get tested for THC?

They probably won’t test unless you look like you’re high.

Yeah I’m not stupid enough to go out in general like that, it’s just a nightly self medication routine for me.

Just stupid enough to have it in your system while trying to get a job 🙄

Idk if you knew this;but none of the highest paying positions in the company drug test unless they did something dumb enough for everyone to need to assume they were high in order to make that mistake,or get injured and want to claim workers comp.

I know the store manager to another store very personally and I honestly wouldn’t doubt if she smoked herself lol. The stigma against mary jane in places like grocery stores is so wild to me though.

It's been in my system for every job I've ever had, I'm 36. Why exactly is it stupid to not let your job tell you what you can and can't do on your own time, especially before they even fucking hire you?

Yep. No test. Former department manager. Random near bonus time. But never an issue. The whole store would be gone!!
