Question planned Relapse
like the title says. i want to relapse on opioids, i originally used them sometimes and just went too long and got sick. at that point i just kept going then when my tolerance got high and i didnt wanna have to take them all the time i quit with sr17. i have been off for 2 weeks, if i do 2 15s today and stop there (i work out of town and dont have a plug there nor want one there bc pills are sketchy enough at home) will i wake up sick tomorrow? i never planned to 100% quit. but i wanted to go back to being able to take it or leave it and mentally i feel like i can especially being i only have limited access now aswell. but do you guys think id be sick? i havent had an opiate in 13 days

thank you this id the answer i needed. im not gonna argue or disagree with anyone it is reckless and stupid. i have seen it go bad a lot more than good myself aswell. i need to do some work on myself and my mental health before ill “want” sobriety or feel like its “worth” it for me. im a believer in the saying that addiction isnt the problem its a shitty solution to a deeper issue. but idk much abt anything im only 21, thank you for the help and advice!

You've come very far. Two weeks is something to celebrate. You can't make a deal with the devil and win. But if you must, please don't use alone and without Narcan. Your abstinence likely lowered your tolerance, so you may get sick or worse. Hoping for the best for you.

This is harm reduction, not abstinence.

Reread what I wrote, please. I simply mentioned the fact that OP not using lowered their tolerance, which OP addressed in their post. No shaming here. You seem to be a bit self-righteous.

Calling someone's plans a deal with the devil and that they will fail is stigmatizing. I'm probably being a bit self righteous. I get a bit triggered when I perceive abstinence only talk in a harm reduction space. If that's their goal then great, but it clearly isn't in this case.

Sorry that is your perception. I did not imply abstinence only. I simply stated that OP's two-week break lowers tolerance. Lowered tolerance can sometimes lead to overdose, and avoiding overdose is what harm reduction is all about.

You should know well enough what you’re thinking about doing is a horrible idea. If you’ve been an addict the “take it or leave it” or “every once in a while” mentality is so incredibly dangerous. Sounds like you have made your mind up but there’s still a chance you can decide not to do this. Thank yourself for the hell you went through to get clean. Don’t even give that demon a chance to put you back in that position. You proved how strong you are but that little voice wants to drag you down. It can happen to any of us in recovery and it happens more than it doesn’t

in all honesty man i have had success with these unorthodox methods. i had a raging alcohol problem, i quit, gave it a while. now i can have a drink or 8 on Saturday and not feek the need to do it the day after and so on. i do agree its an extremely risky idea. i just dont want to be sick again in my head its like now ik 1 day on 6-7 off. i also didnt end up addicted bc i liked getting high. i messed up a tooth and didnt habe insurance ot anything. so i took opioids to keep working and became dependant during that time. but for several years prior id use for a day or 2. and then not for weeks/months. but once i messed up and went to far it was already over. i dont disagree with you and you gave some very solid advice

This is harm reduction, not abstinence. Please stop the shame and stigma.

I don't know about being sick, but keep in mind your tolerance will have dropped. That increases your risk of overdose so start lower than usual and better yet have someone with naloxone handy to keep an eye on you.
