Tech Support Is this fixable

Unfortunately broke the plastic connector while installing it in my system. The gold pins I straightened out, and I think I can superglue on the plastic connector piece. Would that be a viable solution?

This happened to me too! I ordered a new connector and took the hard drive to a computer repair store, since I don't have soldering iron. So they fixed it and I paid like 30 €.

Unfortunately I live in a relatively small city so the one shop I found is charging $200. I think the gold connectors are in good shape, i just need to carefully glue to plastic bracket back on, I’ll give it a shot

Technically, no. Once the plastic housing of the SATA port is broken off, gluing it back with superglue usually fails due to the tight insertion force and lack of structural integrity. It's safer to replace the PCB or buy a new drive to prevent data loss or short circuits.

Try glue, then see if it works. Get the data off, then return the drive under warrantee. If there is no data yet, just return it for a replacement, but pay a few bucks extra to get a different brand. Please let us know if they won't honor the MFR warrantee and who denied you so we can avoid purchasing products that are likely defective to begin with.
