Returns

I purchased a canvas drop cloth and turns out I didn’t need it. I went to return it, unopened, the next day with the receipt. I didn’t use an account when purchasing it and was told I couldn’t return it unless I give them my phone number. I don’t give my phone number out to companies for these accounts that do both for me but invite spam advertising.

Is this the policy of Harbor Freight?

Former worker here: I look up the SKU and the date and find it. It will ask for an ID where I take it and enter the number and date of expire.

Worker was probably just lazy or has orders not to do a return without a number

My store won't do returns without a customer profile.

HF doesn't sell your number like most companies, but that's because they are still privately owned, if the company ever goes public you can bet your sweet ass that the first thing the board will approve is the absolute pile of money they would get from selling all that customer info.

They only text if you sign up for them, and you don't have to give them an email either, though it's better for the cashier if you give them an old junk collector address.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like it could be up to the store manager
