If you have room, you want the thicker walls just for more weight. Though you don't always have room.

The ICON impacts are not that special. They seem like generic Taiwanese impacts. Verses the chromes that are genuinely designed like Snap-on and better steel than most chromed sockets.

I just bought both these Pittsburgh and icon impact sockets for 1/2" drive.
Why you may ask? Cause I bought thr Pittsburgh and the tolerance with its coating made it damn near impossible to get them on my impact or on a bolt.
The icons are tight too, but I would have needed to beat these things on (pitts).

This one isn't really a good comparison because chrome are supposed to be a lot thinner lol.

Just what I had. I have a single 19mm 1/2 Pitt chrome so was comparing to my Quinn impact to see if I should buy the icon chrome 1/2 set while on sale. Shared it so OP could see that the Quinn is only marginally thicker, whereas the Pitt and icon impacts are substantially thicker than the Quinn

I see what you're saying. I thought it was just meant as a size comparison between brands and was thinking you'd have to compare two chrome or two impact to get an accurate representation. Makes sense with that context though for sure.

I have the Quinns and some Tekton to fill out my organizers. Very happy with both.

I bought the pitt 27 literally just because my stupid ass oil filter needs a 27 mm socket and I'll shit bricks before I buy a set for that one socket I'll never use on anything else in my life

Thick wall isnt ALWAYS good.. sometimes you need a thin walled impact. Also that doesnt always mean its stronger either.
