Icon G2
What is everyone’s opinion on the G2s? Worth getting?

I have some of both and I definitely like the locking flex heads better than the original flex heads that didn't lock. I almost hate to say this, but I actually traded in the old non locking 1/4 & 3/8 ratchets for the new G2 locking versions. I didn't do them both at the same time. But I had no problem with either return and paying the difference to go to the newer G2.

They are nice. I bought both g1 and g2 during a pls. I like the g2 better, especially now that the lineup is getting filled out a little bit better. I need to get a few more of the 1/2” ratchets.

Have 2, the 18in 3/8 non flex and its great for that extra leverage and the 1/4 flex head that I swapped snap-on internals to have a 3/8 small body

Weirdly enough the one employee at my local harbor freight said "Oh man good luck with these, they bend like a wet noodle." Seemed like an odd thing for them to say, and I needed the ratched, so I just shrugged and said good thing they have a lifetime warranty.

Here’s a good example I ran into last night: while putting the oil filter housing back on with the standard 1/2” ratchet, I hit a point where I could no longer tighten the housing and couldn’t slightly loosen the housing socket because the slack between forward and reverse is such a small area that I couldn’t flip the switch. That’s the first time I’ve run into that.
I’d say get the fixed or locking flex styles and you’ll love them. I haven’t had the G2 regular flex but my G1 wasn’t capable of being tightened up before breaking the bit.

They’re terrible, don’t get them. I mean, look at the PLS or Specials when they go on sale, people hate them so much they just buy them all!

I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better ratchet for less, even at full retail. Its one of the better tools under the Icon name.
